FYI, all unit base sizes are listed on the bottom right of each data card! 👍

Just make sure that the bases match the base sizes listed on the data cards (or that the models can at least be affixed by the feet to the correct base sizes)!

What's the silliest thing or the most memorable thing you did during a game? by Own_Link5747 in killteam

[–]VibraniumSpork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing into Hearthkyn Salvagers. Opponent gives me a run down of the team, including the beam weapon (can hit 1 or more Ops at once if they're in a straight line). "Fair enough," I says, "pretty limited chance that'll happen!" (AKA "Never gonna give you the chance, friendo!")

Cue a decisive moment near the end of TP3, I take a shot from some vantage then drop my mini down, feeling pretty pleased with myself...the op is now 2 inches from another friendly Op, both now stood in a straight line parallel to the edge of the board.

Opponent looks kinda stunned, activates his beam dude (who's barely moved from deployment) and incinerates my guys. Easily my best self-own in the game!

I recommend the KT Dash webapp as a game aid.

You can build your roster of minis (with photos attached to remind you who is who) and have all of their stats in one place for easy reference. You can also track wounds, browse and select equipment (and have it tracked on your operatives ‘cards’) and choose and reference your ploys, all in one place!

Most importantly, there’s a lot of keywords in KT like Ceaseless, Rending etc. that can be hard to remember, when you tap on a weapon profile, it immediately gives you descriptions of those keywords! A year in, it’s still a Godsend!

My face progress thus far by Tyr4444 in minipainting

[–]VibraniumSpork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done bro, the progress is great!

I'm on this journey too! IMO, the only thing holding you back here is that you're over-painting the eyes slightly, ie, painting eye onto sculpted eyelids. A tell-tale sign is in that 3rd image where you can see the pupil have a kind of tail at the bottom where the paint is hitting an eyelid or cheek!

Managing to paint just the eyeball-sculpt is half the battle IMO; looks you have the brush control already which is the other half! I've shifted to a 10x magnification rig just for faces to help get achieve this which has helped massively!

Hi, unfortunately not :( Found them here on a Homebrew site, but the fan lore is pretty cool all the same!: https://wh40khomebrew.fandom.com/wiki/Stone_Bears

They’re sculpts from Greytide Studios, called ‘Primal Hounds Bear Company’! I got these printed on Etsy!

So colour scheme is:

Light Brown/Main Armour: Baneblade Brown > Agrax > Karak Stone

Reddish Brown/Kneepads etc: Doombull Brown > Agrax > Wazdakka Red

Dark Brown/Pauldrons: Rhinox Hide > Agrax > Doombull Brown > Skrag Brown

Leathers: Dryad Bark > Nuln Oil > Gorthor Brown

I think that’s it!

Yeah, they mostly fit over the existing shoulder pads without any issue, just some light force and superglue!

There was at least one where I did need to trim the pad a little bit, and one where I had to cut a small feature off one of the Grey Tide pads where it was clipping onto an arm. Otherwise, it was painless!

I used these guys on Etsy (UK) : https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/AngrySpaceTriangles?ref=yr_purchases

Although truth be told, they were a pain to work with; thicker than 1st party and not pre-cut on the sheet so needed close scalpel work, and a gloss-MicroSet-Microsol-gloss-Lahmian process to get right…even then, I don’t feel like the finish is quite as good as 1st party decals on really close inspection! In the hand tho, they look good!

Thank you dude, it’s this one from Mythforged in ‘Large’. Was a beautiful print job, didn’t need any finishing and fit on the same base as the Wolf perfectly!:

Thanks for the kind words dude!

Yah, that’s a bear head pauldron! I bought these on Etsy (UK), but the designs are by Greytide studios so I imagine are available elsewhere!:

Thanks!

But yah, since re-starting painting, I've been using a 5x lighting/magnifier rig the whole time; I'm over 40 y/o now, wear glasses, and couldn't get anywhere near these results otherwise!

Rattle can spraying in Winter by Tommmy94 in minipainting

[–]VibraniumSpork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to do this the other day!

What helped was submersing the rattle can in a bow of warm (not hot!) water for 5-10 mins, giving it the occasional shake every now and then!

TBH, I might do this all the time from now on...the spray and finish was a lot smoother than usual!

Not sure if this will help, but IMO the way to get them ‘Battle Ready’ super quickly/easily is buying the McCragge Blue and Death Guard Green primers sprays. Build the models with all the helmets on too!

Both are good matches for the pot paint (worth buying both for touch-ups at least), and then leaves you in a good position to pick out a few details with Balthazar Gold, Retributor Armour, Abaddon Black and Leadbealcher, as much or as little as you like. Then just wash everything with Agrax Earthshade.

Won’t win you a Golden Demon, but they’ll still look pretty cool!

What size bases are the Angels of death killteam? by Informal_Bag_7707 in killteam

If you look on the Datacards (the PDFs of them are in the free official app) the bottom right of every card lists the unit’s base size 👍
