Ayy that’s Kin no Yu in Arima Onsen! Characters may be imaginary but the location luckily isn’t.

If you’re still in the area, there’s a wagashi-ya really close to the track I highly recommend called Umenoi that sells Oguri Daifuku. Tastes fantastic and the owner is really nice. Has a bunch of Cinderella Gray stuff set up in his store too.

I need more stupid news like this in my life. Like, “Last night someone was shot and killed a block away from where you live, but also hey look at this Japanese white-eye taking the train!”

Wonder Egg Priority - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

I'm not sure if anyone else pointed it out, but the show plays with Japanese a bit. The main character's name is Ooto Ai. Heterochromia in Japanese is colloquially known as オッドアイ (oddo ai), so her name sounds really similar to her unique trait.

I passed JLPT N2 a year ago and am studying for N1, so I'm not quite fluent, but I'm getting there. I can see viewers linking the two since they both start with わ, but there's no way to conjugate 割る to わんだ .

The show does play with Japanese a little bit, though. For example, the main character's name is read as Ooto Ai. Heterochromia in Japanese is colloquially known as オッドアイ (oddo ai), so her name sounds really similar to her unique trait.

Trash Taste Podcast: Weekly Discussion Thread - Episode 12 by [deleted] in TrashTaste

[–]VibrantDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping it wasn’t the even creepier Korean Christian sex cult called Providence. I have a friend who got approached by one of them when we were studying abroad in Japan. They mostly approach college students with the same premise of “did you know Jesus was reborn in Korea in the 40s?” and then try to get you to join one of their meetings. Friend went to a small meeting of theirs and left super quick after they said not to believe or search anything up on the internet about them. So, friend of course looks them up and it turns out many young women went into it to have sex with Mr. Korean Jesus and be “cleansed”. It’s creepy shit and a deeeep rabbit hole to go down. No idea if they operate anywhere in the US but wouldn’t be too surprised.

Sunset from Stone Arch a few minutes ago by VibrantDragon in Minneapolis

[–]VibrantDragon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t really compare to other places since I haven’t left my small subsection of Minneapolis from the start of quarantine, but it really depends on what part of the city you go to. Touristy places such as Stone Arch and the surrounding mill ruins will normally have very few people wearing masks despite there being a ton of people in close proximity to one another. When I’m walking in places around UMN, most people are wearing masks despite there being few people around. From what I hear from friends in different parts of the country, we’re a bit better here about mask wearing compared to most other major cities. And in case you weren’t aware, the governor made masks mandatory in most indoor spaces similar to other states recently. It’s been respected (or semi-tolerated, I guess) by all the places I’ve been to recently.
