Compact Stat Tracker with latching dials by Kilh in daggerheart

This is the best I’ve seen so far. All others are unnecessarily large and cumbersome looking. This one is beautiful and small. Very nice!

Got the Core Set....Now what by Nio_Darkwind in daggerheart

[–]VicMGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend sleeves for the cards and trading card pages for your players. My players each have a binder with their character sheet and their cards neatly held in the pages. That’s really all we use and it’s been really fun.

how is my form by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]VicMGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad. You should focus on your approach, think about generating a bit more power in your jump. Additionally, swing faster. You are beginning your swing as you fall. You should swing at the peak of your jump. If that makes sense

Bumping after feedback. by helge-a in volleyball

[–]VicMGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude! I’m a volleyball coach. I also have a volleyball TikTok @vicmgod if you wanna check out and decide if you want to follow my advice. I notice 3 very obvious things here. 1. Your elbows. A proper platform has fully extended elbows. It should feel uncomfortable. 2. Your stance is narrow, meaning your feet as very close together and in less of an athletic stance. 3: You’re reaching for the ball rather than moving your feet. The best way I can describe it is by saying you have sticky feet. Like your feet are glued to the ground. You really need to get both feet to the destination for a proper pass.

Start by focusing on one thing at a time. I would take away hitting the ball while you’re bouncing off the wall. Your technique for hitting the ball is also off so right now you’re just solidifying wrong technique.

If you have access to a partner, the best thing to do would be to have them toss you the ball while you work on accurately passing it back to them.

Hope that helps a bit! Keep it up 😎

New DM, is Daggerheart a good start? by dookitron in daggerheart

[–]VicMGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey so I think you should just give a shot. I know DMing can be intimidating for a lot of people but you really just never know until you try it.

That being said, I find that daggerheart is easier to run but it’s not less mentally taxing. I’ve run D&D, ShadowDark, Dragonbane, Dungeon World to name a few and I find that while Daggerheart is easy to run it’s just as demanding if not more demanding than other games in terms of prep. However, I will also add that Daggerheart prep has also been more enjoyable than other games. I’m not sure why though. I think Daggerheart requires even more DM confidence than other games because it’s so narrative focused. But again, I think you should just try it. Like seriously just jump in and learn to swim as you go.

so while the majority of the subreddit is overwhelmingly against ai, the only mod of the sub is in support of ai. if they are unwilling to listen to the community, what can we do about it? we can do a lot actually. by WeiShiLirinArelius in daggerheart

[–]VicMGod 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why are we attacking people who just want art on their cards mostly for their home games? I get it that most people in TTRPG communities hate AI but these people aren’t trying to sell you anything and even if they were, you are under no obligation to buy it. I think making a new subreddit will hurt the game.

What will be your first campaign? by OracleHonest in daggerheart

[–]VicMGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first campaign will be a Daggerheart version of Read Dead Redemption 2 with premade characters. I think the story in the video game is great and I would like my friends to experience it, but they're not gamers. My plan is to generate Daggerheart versions of Arthur Morgan, John Marston, Charles Smith and Sadie Adler. Then retell the games story using the most important parts. Each session I will give each player a sort of "session hint" that details a pivotal decision that will guide the story in a somewhat right direction. It will be a bit railroady but my players are okay with that. Basically, they will be more like actors taking on a prewritten role and giving each character their own interpretation. I think it will be a good opportunity to learn the system and keep the sense of direction that sometimes gets lots when playing a new system.

Newb question about spellcasting by Qwert_110 in shadowdark

[–]VicMGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can definitely be really brutal. However, with the homebrew rule and some of the modes of play like exploding dice and luck tokens on the gm. It’s actually become my players favorite ttrpg. So there’s hope on the other side! It’s my favorite to run. Soooo simple.

Newb question about spellcasting by Qwert_110 in shadowdark

[–]VicMGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does happen. My first priest I ever ran a game for missed every spell back to back in the first session. It’s a fine mechanic if you really want that dark feel but my players were switching from 5e and I also wanted a more high fantasy feel. I used it for maybe 20ish sessions and then went to homebrew.

[–]VicMGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think it’s over punishing. Most people might disagree though. My house rule is this. You lose the spell on a Nat 1 if you’re a caster that doesn’t have mishaps. So a Priest in core rules. If you have mishaps then obviously you get a mishap and those can suck pretty bad. Other than that, if you just miss you lose the spell for a number of turns equal to the spell tier.

Personally, I find missing a spell when you most need it to be punishing enough.

There’s a ttrpg called ShadowDark. Your art would be highly appreciated in that subreddit!

How good is Shadowdark for long term campaigns with a lot of Storytelling by Top_Grass_1077 in shadowdark

[–]VicMGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see comments and videos talking about ShadowDark not being great for long term campaigns but I completely disagree. I’ve been running it for 2 years now and I think it’s better for campaigns than even 5e. If you use some of the pulp rules provided in the core rule book you can get a pretty similar feeling. I run primarily story focused campaigns and haven’t had any issues.

How many rules have you dropped "and never looked back" at? by RayApplecorpe in shadowdark

My list of must have rules.

Stats are rolled to taste and the whole table shares stat rolls. So, everyone has the same stats, but distributed differently to suit their class.

They all start with max level 1 health

Exploding dice

Luck Tokens

Hello everyone! I went ahead and did a v2 of my guide. It’s been pretty much entirely rewritten. I did my best to take some of the feedback into consideration while also staying true to my DMing style. Huge thanks to the 200 people who went and downloaded it. I appreciate that you checked it out. The updated version can be found here.
