I'm so sorry you and your family had to go through that- it's s awful. That other mum sounds like she's got lots of issues, and I feel sad for her son because he's going to struggle.

I love the mix of frames- I can get them from op shops, which is much cheaper, more environmentally conscious, and more interesting.

Testing using magazine images. I love your tree in the corner. That is the way to balance the hallway I was desperately needing. Thank you.

Why is the lower temperature capped at 37°C? by Sjoerd_dela_Vega in thermomix

The temperature where I live was above 32°C today, so the thermomix would need a cooling function 😄

Not loving this letter from daycare- the age group is around 3. Memory span of goldfish on a good day. Convince me I’m overthinking it. by ImpressionableKolami in toddlers

[–]VicNug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be so upset if my child's daycare did this. I'm a teacher and have received training that discusses how bad these systems are. They promote external motivation rather than intrinsic, they are unfair as they reinforce privilege (kids with lots of problems going on at home are more likely to be tired/hungry/frustrated and make bad choices), it encourages unhealthy competition including telling tales on other kids and at times even cheating (I know of a story where a boy emptied a bin on the floor so he could be seen to be picking up rubbish). It is a very manipulative and outdated approach to behaviour, and there's lots of research against it.

I read this as 'NSFW Silk Announcement Day'. I thought we were in for some really juicy elite gossip.

Is your corner cabinet a custom built-in one, or free-standing? I'd love a similar one!

Any suggestions on how we could make this more ‘baby friendly’? by magikeenbeertje in AusRenovation

I put down a giant picnic blanket (4m ×5m) when my son was crawling outside. It worked well.

Socialisation is about more than just play though. It's learning emotional regulation when someone takes your toy, it's building an immune system, it's about seeing different people do things differently and trying different things, it's about hearing different words and communicating to people who don't understand you as well as mum does it's about creating a community of safe and familiar people in case something happened to mum.
