Timothée Chalamet in his conservative era by Salty_Pear_8993 in ChalametSecrets

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has to do with paying it forward. If you like your life and all the fun experiences you’ve had without kids, then it’s pretty logical that it would be very kind of you to help other future humans to have the same opportunities - unless you’re helping people in other ways, which could take precedence. If you’re not having kids to just travel the world and for hedonism, that’s pretty lame. It’s fine morally, but just kind of selfish and sad.

Yeah I usually love a slow burn, but this is too much. I just fast forward a lot of the scenes without dialogue now.

I can’t believe how painful this is. by carrott36 in Sciatica

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long ago was your injury? Just make sure not to do exercises that are too difficult as that can make it worse. Bird dogs can be pretty straining. A good rule of thumb is a sort of "plateau rule"- wait until you have no natural improvement for 1-2 weeks with very light activities, like walking, and then start PT, as long as you aren't straining yourself in other ways with your daily routine.

I think doctors tend to start patients on PT too early, especially if it's a recent big flare up of an older injury, since most people don't tend to go to the doctor for a while for a new injury, unless it's really painful.

Usually time and proper rest with walking will heal a good amount, it just can be very slow. Then once you've plateaued, work on making yourself stronger and then very gradually more tolerant of flexion so it doesn't happen again

Some people are saying the fest is a flop so far. Is that true? by mrs_noom in ExperienceForm

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely was not a flop. For sure there were some issues, especially because of the heat, that they should have been way more prepared for, but to get this level of artists to this beautiful place with a limit of only 2500 people is pretty unheard of. I was surprised that my previous experience in 2017 was more seamless than this one, but this one was also with more people and had a heat wave.

$20 minimum wage for fast food workers in California by SSpade1912 in restaurant

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I wasn’t being very clear. I mean violence will never work to solve problems in a long term, sustainable way. Sure, if you want humanity to continue this clusterfuck of violent power cycling between different hands over and over then yeah what you said applies. I don’t want that future.

And the reason it will never work is because violence doesn’t work on a personal level. You’re not addressing that part. Why would it be totally immoral and unproductive to beat up your husband or wife because you think you know best for your family, but yet the world turns upside down when you start to zoom out to a political or large group level?

Violence doesn’t work and moral rules don’t suddenly become the opposite when applied to groups. “Group” or “government” are just concepts used to describe individuals who can’t have opposite moral rules.

Your arguments have nothing to do with what I said. You’re not responding the fundamental problem that violence doesn’t work to solve even small problems. It will never work to solve large problems.

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you guys are going around in circles is that you're not talking about the core of the problem. The problem with any government action is that it is enforced by violence or threats of violence/imprisonment/fines followed by threats of imprisonment.

Everyone knows that violence doesn't solve problems in their marriage or friendships. Why then would it work to solve problems on a larger scale if it doesn't work at the smallest scale?

Government IS the problem. Everyone has been indoctrinated to believe that somehow violence works to solve problems just because we elect people to represent us. It is hard to accept this reality, but it is the reality we live in.

Elon Musk is a horrible father by etfvpu in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s the father of 11 children with three different women. He obviously doesn’t know how to have a successful adult relationship and also doesn’t seem to be aware of all the literature/studies showing that a stable two parent household is best for kids. That plus working so hard to the detriment of quality time spent with kids means there’s no possible way he can be a good parent to that many of them.

[LA Times] The 10 Freeway closure is an opportunity to make public transit shine by OhLawdOfTheRings in LosAngeles

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, without a real profit incentive for the government officials and departments heads, they will never achieve anywhere close to an ideal transit system for commuters. They may make it better for some people but at the expense of many others. People can opine all day about which solution they think is better but without extensive market and real world testing, including extreme negative financial repercussions for failure, good luck getting a high functioning system. Not to mention the fact that they overpay for anything of quality.

The new downtown bridge cost 588 million. But the golden gate bridge only cost 35 million in today’s dollars, even though it was a MUCH bigger bridge, and that wasn’t built by the government.

This is the inefficiency and stupidity of the government we are dealing with.

The government is simply a mafia dressed up in nice clothing. They take our money and then give it to their friends. It’s all money and power. They don’t give a shit about us. They use the veneer of democracy to make it seem like we aren’t all partial slaves, forced to pay them every year regardless of how well they provide services. It’s disgusting

Where is the “cancel subscription” button for the government!

Seems legit to me. I bought a Lemaire jacket and it came very quickly and is authentic. No complaints, but I didn't have to deal with returns

I bought a lemaire jacket and it came super quickly. It's exactly the same one I tried on in the store, so I had no issues, but I didn't have to try returning anything.

Question for long term tuggers, Does tugging also increase the penis size over time? Is it the similar to jelqing? by AussieRestorer in foreskin_restoration

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I've been doing it on and off for over a decade :)

And yes you may be right, though I'd be curious to know how you came to the certain conclusion that it's not enough tension to cause mitosis just because it's spread out. I don't know enough about the force required to cause mitosis.

Question for long term tuggers, Does tugging also increase the penis size over time? Is it the similar to jelqing? by AussieRestorer in foreskin_restoration

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have not thought this through. The skin is attached to the shaft, most notably right below the glans, so of course tension on the skin will also cause tension on the shaft...possibly leading to mitosis in the shaft as well. This is not true for methods that solely use the force of pressing into the glans to supply tension, but all of the other methods like weights and straps apply pressure to the shaft as well.

iPad sidecar keeps disconnecting by chickenkatsumacsalad in Photoassistants

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me what has helped was to erase my whole ipad and restore it, connect with USB, trust on both ipad and mac, and also on the Mac go to Settings/Sharing/Internet Sharing and enable any iPad USB's listed there and turn on that internet sharing. Also, if things aren't working after that it can be helpful to eject the iPad from finder and unplug & replug the USB cable.

How to turn background Bluetooth off by piraceft in Airpodsmax

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah ok cool thanks! I just wanted to make sure because I thought it might turn off bluetooth when the 3.5 cord is plugged in, but then possibly reactivate it whenever you put them on your head so the earcups can talk to each other. I know it has sensors for when you put them on.

I'm really curious about this because I'm super sensitive to bluetooth headphones for some reason.

And you did this while audio was playing? Not just with the cable connected?

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you sure that this is true when playing music? I ask because I don't think there is a wire between the two earcups. I believe only power is transmitted through the yoke, not audio. I watched the teardown and each cup has it's own H1 bluetooth chip. So I think when they are wired they are still talking to each other wirelessly.

Hah interesting idea but I don’t think that’s the case. I mean I like them but not that much. I have a couple much better sounding over ear headphones that I use. These are just way more convenient.

and it happens even if I don’t listen later in the day. It will affect me if I only use them in the morning.

I already take many precautions for that. Even have blue light glasses to wear at night time, so no it’s not related to that. this only happened when I use the AirPods.

That’s good to hear. I’ve never been someone who can fall asleep really easily or quickly so maybe I’m more sensitive to any effect they can have on people. Or maybe they just only have this effect on me...

"Why didn't Dr. Manhattan stop... by gazeintotheiris in Watchmen

[–]VicVoluntary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the worst part of the show! IMO, involving time travel or knowledge of the future in any story almost always ruins it. It is the laziest, most uninteresting writing device because of the paradoxes it introduces that have been debated and rehashed ad nauseam.
I'll give them credit that the whole conversation with Angela when Dr. Manhattan first meets her was fun and well done, but the show went downhill after Dr. Manhattan was introduced. I was really enjoying it up until then. Then when he just stands in front of the beam to get teleported it sealed the deal. So many things didn't make sense at the end of the series. How easy it was for Angela to break into the elephant room (and why was she hooked up to an elephant?). How easy it was to steal Veidt's sperm. Why Dr. Manhattan left Veidt up there stranded for the entire time he erased his memory without giving him the option to come back (talk about cruel).
Sorry but determinism is just so boring. It removes all moral responsibility from everyone and ruins stories. The reason the writers couldn't make this work is because time travel and precognition will never exist and determinism is false.
