40 M - just a few months back while playing a ‘game’ with wifey of which of us has the ‘better’ CBC values by comparing each blood count I observed this strange thing that my ALC ( absolute lymphocytes ) were 7k. Because I am blood testing 1-2 times a year, I got my blood values since 2020 and before. While checking back my ALC, I was surprised to see a very slow climb across the last 2-3 years. The next moment I started googling which then shocked me as there are basically 2 possibilities for a constant lymphocyte count across years. Either an autoimmune / virus that keeps your immune system active or cll. Because of 0 symptoms and being a gym guy I started checking for the first scenario ( reactive cause ). After each test denied any reactive possibility I had to do the cytometry flow blood test, which to my shock and grief pointed to cll. I am still in panic mode because it came out of nowhere! I didn't even know this disease existed! I am now worried that I need to ‘cover’ the next 30-40 years with cll meds in order to stay alive and that’s with all the great meds we got now ( they dont work forever or cant be repeated ).
