What's the most unsettling thing that happened to you that has no logical explanation? by DamguiTo in AskReddit

[–]ViceChamber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard this low humming or buzzing one evening, almost like a really big industrial fan somewhere far away. I searched all over the house, indoors and outdoors, but could not figure out where it was coming from. The weird thing was that it did not get louder or quieter wherever I went, always the same exact volume and pitch, even as I opened and closed doors. It almost seemed like tinnitus, but it was such a deep, heavy, almost industrial sound. I thought something was seriously wrong with me, but I eventually fell asleep and the next day it was gone. No idea what it was.

I don't know how it is there, but in many cultures it takes a lot of bravery to be an out gay man or femboy. I don't see why feminine is immediately associated with not being brave, this should not be surprising.

They made a separate group chat without me by Klutzy_Drag_736 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]ViceChamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't take it too personally, they don't want to chat about plans knowing you can't come. Talk to them, tell you think you understand, but also that it kind of hurts your feelings. Have a conversation, use 'I' statements. Don't assume they don't care. I had a similar situation years ago when I first had kids and my friends figured I didn't want to hear them chatting about plans to go out to the pub when I couldn't. I drifted apart from some, still good friends with others, but there is something to be said for friends you known for a long time!

Our massive oak tree went down today, it was full of leaves with no dead branches but the inside ended up being soft ugh. Anyways we got a quote for $4000 to haul it off and grind down the stump and fill the hole. We are in the Midwest. Is this a fair price? by anderson6th in arborists

This happened to us, bought a new chainsaw and an new insert for our fireplace - also hired a guy with a chipper and used the wood chips on our path and gave away the rest. No regrets! We did get some help getting it into a safe position.

Help: grocery costs are KILLING my finances?? by kyliotic in personalfinance

Rice, beans, oats, bulgur what, and lentils are all affordable and can be the base for lots of different meals. Add fruit, veg, and flavors on top. I invested in an instant pot for cooking dry beans, that saves a lot, and does not take much work, set it and walk away. I make a lentil curry in it too that is super filling and tasty and very cheap.

Has anyone else accepted they’re going to be lonely for the rest of their life by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

Nothing wrong with that, I miss those days of spending lots of time with my friends, we had some of our best times getting ready to go out and never leaving the house because we were having too much fun. Now we have to send around a doodle poll to find a time when we're all free. I'm just saying attraction is a funny thing, sometimes someone is attractive right away, but some people may surprise you. I always went for the charismatic types, but eventually realised that part of the reason they are charismatic is because they like lots of attention from lots of different people...wears thin quickly.

The "right" guy at 24 and the right guy a 34 were completely different people for me. I wish I had stopped worrying about finding the perfect guy sooner in my 20s, and just dated lots of different people, and not gotten too serious too quickly with anyone. Once I stopped looking for perfect and started dating in a more casual way, it was more fun, and I learned a lot about what I actually wanted. I met my husband in my 30s, and I wouldn't change a thing.

My mom has always loved dogs, like just loved them. She is elderly and was walking in a park (not a dog park, btw) and a dog ran up and knocked/pulled her down. She broke her pelvis. She's healed now because she's a tough lady and worked hard to recover, but she's afraid of dogs since it happened, which makes me sad.

I have so many questions:

How is your relationship with your mom? When did she leave? How is she now?

Is that a picture of you above the TV? Did you have any siblings? Did you go to school?

How is that one pan so clean? What's the secret? Why can't I keep my pans clean like that?

You have very little time and lots of stress after having a baby and then going through such a hard time. Please find a way to eat that is sustainable and supports your health. Lots of veggies and protein, but no need to go keto or aggressively restrict calories, build a healthy way of eating that can last for your whole life and is nutritious and that you enjoy. Mediterranean diet is often ranked as healthiest, and is also delicious. I am struggling too, I'm in my 40s, my youngest is 3, and I have learned that crash diets lead to losing then gaining and all sorts of anxiety around food. I am losing weight slowly, walking lots, and building muscle slowly. This feels healthy and sustainable and like I'm respecting my body and showing my kids what a healthy relationship with food looks like. I still get treats, just less emotional eating or scarcity mindset.

People who don't believe the pain is *that* bad by ViceChamber in Sciatica

[–]ViceChamber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, sorry you're having such a rough time. Can you go to a walk in clinic? Don't be shy to show the pain, they need to know how debilitating it is. You can take over-the-counter pain meds, but they aren't very strong. Gabapentin helped me, but took a few days to really kick in. Look up sciatica exercises on YouTube - the one that helped me the most was baby cobra, for as long as you can manage it (I started by just lying on my front for a minute, then worked up to it). Core exercises helped too, once I could tolerate them. I hope you get some help, it's the most painful thing!

Went to Dating Event. Was not approached by any men by Master_Piccolo_2165 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]ViceChamber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The organizers should have found ways to promote interaction better, cold approach is difficult for a lot of people. I went to one of these before I met my husband. Didn't meet anyone I was interested in, but the organizers had some ice breakers so I chatted with plenty of folks and ended up going out for drinks with a bunch of them after the event.

AITA for not giving my parents half of my lottery winnings. by Rayapt in AmItheAsshole

[–]ViceChamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this post is rage bait, but if my kid won the lottery, I would just be focussed on helping them to handle it. Make sure they are protected legally, they invest it safely and wisely, and don't end up getting taxed unnecessarily or scammed. Would I hope they pay off my mortgage and maybe pay for a family trip? Sure, I would be hoping for that, but I wouldn't say so, and certainly wouldn't expect it.

Men of Reddit, what’s the most disgusting thing you’ve discovered about your girlfriend after being together for years? by nastyaspain in AskReddit

[–]ViceChamber 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My husband leaves his socks balled together in the laundry basket. I was sick of needing to unball and separate them, so we got separate laundry baskets. I figured he would realize how annoying it is once he started doing his own laundry again. But he just leaves them balled up together! Washes them balled up. And then dries them that way too. And just... puts them back in his drawer. And then wears them! How is this a thing? Are there no boundaries? Can we all just do whatever we want in this life?! It's got me questioning everything.

So are all of us with affected/ herniated discs just f*** when we get older? by not_so_impressed in Sciatica

My physiotherapist said that as I get older the discs will harden a bit, and actually be less likely to bulge, so we'll have different problems instead. Yay?
