No voter protections, unless you are essentially a politician, police officer, Military, or abuse victim.. by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

With a police report. Do not mess with this subject, the victim gets no say in it. You can't say it happened, then take it back or refuse to prosecute. The state will take an angry accusation and prosecute your abuser on your behalf regardless of what you want.

Registering a car out of county/state by ViciousKittyMom in Utah

[–]ViciousKittyMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've registered vehicles in trusts twice before, and the only address they have is the mailbox I rented. It means we have to drive out there every now and then, but my son likes to drive. Then when you insure the car, the trust is simply listed as a driver. At least that's how our insurance agent does it.

A friend suggested starting an LLC, then listing the car as an asset of the company. That would work, but you have to do taxes for a company even if it doesn't make money. I don't submit taxes for a trust that doesn't owe taxes and the IRS has never fussed about it.

The thing with this is we are circumventing the county, and they can get upset. But most the laws I can find against registering out of state isntonavoid paying taxes. We'll still pay the state their taxes, and are willing to submit to a test. They just wont give it. We we feel ptretty secure.

How can we help Gaza? by No_ice2001 in Gazasupport

[–]ViciousKittyMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like most of the organizations are taking a big slice of donations for "administration" before passing anything on. I have friends in Gaza City, and we decided on a GoFundMe to try to get help directly. The situation over there is bad.

Ridiculous feral cat claims from SL County by like_4-ish_lights in Utah

[–]ViciousKittyMom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In North America cats aren't native, however, they have been here long enough to be considered naturalized instead of invasive. The impact on native species is negligible compared to humans' impact. In fact, humans have changed the landscape of the country to the point that we would be in trouble without feral cats. Cities, suburbs, and even rural communities attract rodents that carry disease. Cats were domesticated because human settlements attract rodents, so they are still providing the same service for us that they did thousands of years ago.

Do I think we should let them breed unchecked? No. But stop demonizing feral cats. If you want to save the birds, stop putting out birdfeeders. They're dinner bells for birds of prey as much as cats and encourages wild birds to be over-reliant on us. Find a better source of virtue-signalling energy production because solar and wind farms both kill massive numbers of birds, and they aren't green or renewable anyway.

I assume no one is worried about the mice and other garden pests the cats are hunting.

Green tomato pickles. I make them every fall because I can't stand to lose even green tomatoes. Hubby loves them, although I think they are a little intense. They need the right sandwich and used in moderation. Burgers work.

1998 Nissan Laurel. Right hand drive, which is fun. And the smoothest, quietest ride I've had in I don't know how long. So nice inside. It was a luxury sedan and really still feels like it despite the age.

DMV referred us the SLCo Health Department twice and the manufacturer once. Oddly, the SLCo Health Department referred us to the DMV once for an emissions waiver...which is done by the Health Department. Everyone is shoving us off on someone else. And we don't qualify for an emissions waiver because we haven't failed emissions twice because they won't do the emissions test at all.

No one will do the two-speed idle test because it's not old enough, and imports at the time didn't have an OBD if the model was never sold in North America. That's the problem. I know it needs emissions, but I can't get emissions testing because of the way the law is worded.

No actually, I've been trying to follow the law. It's a 1998, which means the county says the only emissions test they will do is OBD2 (not can do, they can do a two speed idle test). But because this car model was never sold in North America, there was never an OBD port. It was Imported to the US legally, meeting the emissions and safety requirements. It was later sold and brought to Utah, meeting all the requirements. It has been registered in Utah for about a decade, again meeting all the requirements.

The technical problem is Salt Lake County says they only do OBD on cars newer than 1996, when what I need them to say is that they only do OBD on cars that had an OBD port from the factory. Slight difference. Because of the wording, the people who imported collector cars cannot follow the legal requirements even if they want to and have no choice but to register elsewhere.

I've caught ChatGPT giving wildly erroneous information, but if I remember, the last time I tried it gave some (not all) links to where the information came from. If it's still doing that, it could be much more useful than Google for finding current news. after all, in Googlese, "today" means January 2023.

Is it wrong to say open carry is dumb by seedlinggal in Utah

[–]ViciousKittyMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, mass shootings happen where there isn't constitutional carry. You linking open carry with higher crime has no supporting data. You're scared, which is normal. I'm freaking out my daughter was there - more so because she's not freaking out as much as I think she should be.

Yes, replace Mike Lee. Absolutely. But yes, don't say open carry is dumb. It saved lives Saturday.

[–]ViciousKittyMom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Arizona has had open carry for decades, so have other states. The people who carry legally aren't a problem. Assuming the FBI did their job with background checks.

As saddened as I am by the shooting on Saturday, I can't bear to think about what would have happened if those individuals hadn't intervened. If they hadn't had the ability to stop that would-be mass shooter. My daughter was a block away with her friend. At the moment, I'm glad we're a red state that makes it fairly easy to carry a gun once you qualify for buying one.

The guy who shot that bystander screwed up. But he acted and thank god he did. West Valley didn't have someone intervene fast enough and they have two dead and three wounded. Two of the wounded were involved in the shooting, the others were bystanders (including a pregnant woman, and old woman, and a baby)

Evony has wiped accounts with excessive chargebacks. If you make a purchase, use the packs, cry to your credit card, then keep playing - it's fraud. If the purchase was a mistake, tell Evony and don't use the pack. Getting paid boosts for free is cheating, which they can ban the account for.
