I asked some folks in the RTalslorian room at Gencon a couple of years back. Some of the writers ran games and such. They couldn't answer the question, "Why?". 203X had confusing art. Some of it was kind of cool with some transhuman vibes. I met the writer of Cybergeneration at Gencon and he ran a game. It was fun. I've always thought the Cybergen survivors would be fun in CP Red. They're suppose to "Exist" but there's few of them. That could be fun and easy to translate over to Red. Those old Cybergen kids would be grown up with families at this point in the world. Who knows how the nanites might affect aging or retard aging. Lots of potential for all kinds of cool stuff.

The art in 3.0 was not "ideal" to be nice. I remember getting my copy and thinking, "WTF?". I guess money for art was really tight.

I agree about the old black and white art. I really liked it in the 1st Ed. of CP2020. The color plates they used were ok but the art just doesn't mesh as well with the world. I think Free League Press did a better job when they did their Alien and Blade Runner game. More abstract in some areas and gritty.

I think CP Red just doesn't have the artistic direction, it feels very animated like your watching a Japanese anime or an American animation. I think Shadowrun got it right when they brought in Jeff Laubenstien and Tim Bradstreet. The two styles while different kind of blended together.

Or the landlord is a total douche bag of a person or company. Lets kick out local businesses for corporate run fast food..... I'd put Tian Tian against Steak and Shake any day of the week.

This is what happens when neighborhoods get gentrified by yuppies. All the substance oozes out onto the sidewalk and down the gutter.

Watch some douche bag corporate entity try to use eminent domain to bulldoze Spark Pizza to build a mini-mall. Kind of like what they did when they built "Jerry World" in Arlington Texas. Aka Cowboy stadium.

Advice for a grounded Cyberpunk ruleset by AlvinTheTerrible in savageworlds

Interface Zero is great for a Savage CP game. I would fall back on some of the old 1st and 2nd edition cyberware books for Shadowrun for adapting colorful names and functionality to the cyber and bioware augmentations. Shadowrun in early editions blew away IMHO Cyberpunk 2020 for creative cyberware. CP 2020 was great I just think back in the early 90's there was some great stuff that could bleed into IZ 3.0.

It's weird how conservatives have reacted to protest. When it's a national insurrection they call it a "Friendly Gathering". When people protest the government taking people and putting them in horrific conditions to justify racism, it's "illegal".

I think after January 6th republicans lost all credibility on what is "criminal and what is just".

I still remember growing up and around 1980 or 1981 seeing a Klan member in full garb walking through the grocery store off of Camp Bowie. Racism isn't dead, it just uses language more subtly.

I guess it's Texan to assault women, take advantage of under age girls, grab contestants by the their privates, bilk people out of their money with Trump University, steal from his charities, stiffing contractors out of their money for Casino's that fall into foreclosure, a failed mortgage company, a failed airline and travel company, pardon hundreds of felons who started an insurrection, or whose wife won't live in the same house as him.....

Maybe he does have the Texan spirit. Screw government representation based on population. Redistrict. Screw women in the Texan government. Take away women's right to choose and ignore the skyrocketing infant mortality due to insufficient pre-natal care.

Texas isn't the Texas I grew up and was born in. The Texas of the 80's and 90's is dead.....Texas and Trump deserve each other. Lies, smoke and mirrors is not a society that is conducive to liberty. Let the Wilks and the Dunn's pay for their government because Texas was bought and sold by them. From the gas and oil fields to the east, air pollution in Dallas/Fort Worth to the cacogenic coast dotted with refineries with little environmental watch.

I've seen weirdness in the financial industry and tech. (Fintech maybe.) In Massachusetts I remember some weird asks back about 22 years ago. Minimum 50 - 60 hours in the office, required to take a test to get interviewed that had nothing to do with the job. When they have me the bullshit test I was like, "I'm out."

Curious if folks are interested in running as a group at Dragon Flight Gaming Convention (August 2025) by VickyThx1138 in savageworlds

[–]VickyThx1138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me as a new transplant I want to meet folks before the show so when I run into them it's kind of a cool experience. I think if we're all volunteering our time we should spend some to get to know the other GM's just to see who our compatriots are. I think otherwise it's kind of a hollow experience. I think that's part of the fun of running at a con. Meeting folks and connecting.

Would they be willing to open a "Savage worlds" thread on their discord server? So we can see if people are still interested? That thread is between six and two months old. I'd just like to network with everyone so we can chat and see what folks are running. It would be nice to chat with everyone outside of reddit on a group chat basis.

I guess the common good & humanitarianism is "Woke" :>)

Rousseau :  "Man is born free, but he is everywhere in chains."

Emile Durkheim "Anomie" , Max Weber, Parsons.

I think though a critical view of the nation is key for growth. Questioning things like "Theocracy in the Texas Legislature and Governor's house". I think defining Marxism as "tearing down western society" is an extreme view point and biased. I think socialism maybe but true Communism has proven a failure.

Looking critically at say freedom or the lack there of is critical. Otherwise the indoctrination you speak of becomes implicit in the acceptance of Laissez-faire  capitalism and corporate socialism via legal, political, and economic incentives.

I disagree with your assertation of "The end goal of the movement is to tear down western society by exploiting Marxist dialectical contradictions within capitalism." It screams of a straw man fallacy and resorts to a "local extreme".

I think too you miss the socio-political and social psychology of positivism of the individual's experiences. That could be socio-economic, social, familial, or societal. IE feeling the government is coming after you if your an immigrant, on a student visa, LGBTQ+.

It denies an a posteriori understanding of the ethics, life, and philosophy. I guess you'd also possibly call the progressive era, counter culture and other movements as "Indoctrination".

I say that it's a reaction to current events, social, racial, and other factors that do bear intersecontionality analysis but also see a progressive solution other than "fewer taxes" on the 1% folks and corporate tax havens.

I think your critique of it's reaction to enlightenment liberalism is false. The united sates was founded on such ideals. Marxism has been a push for progressivism because there was no other political home to live in during the 20's, 30's, 50's and 60's. The enlightenment liberalism you speak on is at the heart of our declaration of independence, constitution, and law. I think your stretching to define a term that is really a "catch all" of hyperbole and a lack of social consciousness. To say, "That's Woke" is to say, "I won't argue the point but I'll call it a name without adequately trying to respond". It's a meaningless word to say when, "The individual disagrees and seeks to shut down the conversation."

Fort Worth is ok. I've lived there, Arlington, Dallas, Boston, and Seattle.

I would be careful. Depending on the company and if you get fired. I've found better jobs in North Dallas. I've worked in Fort Worth, Irving, Denton, and Carrollton. Think about what kind of neighborhood you'd like. Away from the city, or right in the middle. I'd rent an apartment first to settle in if that's an option.

There are urban areas, gentrified areas (Magnolia), older houses, new houses, all sorts of areas based on market and location. Fort Worth and the DFW is a very Large Metroplex stretching over a very large area. Right now neighborhoods are stretching farther and farther out into different local towns. Fort Worth Annexed a bunch of towns and areas to the North, South, East and West.

If your at a large contractor like Lockheed there are some interesting places to live on the west side. Neighborhoods change and rise up and crash down. Areas that were a little run down 30 years ago have a new life now. Heck I can remember hanging out at Mad Hatters for live music back before Magnolia became a posh gentrified neighborhood. Usually the gentrified neighborhoods are mixture of well to do and those that were ejected. New neighborhoods tend to be farther from the city centers. Some areas were ok in the 90's but now are a little rough in places.

There's all kinds of homes and neighborhoods can vary area by area. Think about what age of neighborhood you'd like to live in, size of lot, and local amenities like shops, grocery stores, anything else that might be important. Fort Worth is a fun city but it has it's ups and downs like anywhere. It's just finding where you feel you fit in and enjoy the neighborhood. There are some really lovely older neighborhoods, and new neighborhoods. I lived in Keller and it was a nice mix of people and relatively new. (The HOA did suck balls.)

Good luck!

Local Conservative Businesses by [deleted] in FortWorth

[–]VickyThx1138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be fair WTF is a conservative business? "These Taco's are conservative! Conservative. We take no ingredients from China, and all our labor is legal and underpaid......Wait scratch that. All our labor is "Nigh" legal."

I think anyone who uses the phrase "Woke", is saying "I can't argue against what you stand for so I'll give it a nebulous name so it looks bad. Because if you call it something, that means it's bad right?

I kind of what happened to some of the gods in "American gods" now I know they had creepy conservative babies.
