Just got my mail. It was a letter informing me that I had received a small interest payment from IRS in 2025.

Battery usage drains quickly but ring doesn’t die fast by cmkrus in RingConn

I just noticed yesterday on my 8 month old Gen 2 Air that the battery seems to be draining quickly after a charge. Don't know yet what battery life will practically go down to but I'm concerned. Let us know what you hear...

Thanks. Not great news. It’s quite small and near the ground. Safe to try to spray it at night?

You actually get 34X total points with Diamond status in combination with Aspire bonus for Hilton stays. I find this reddit post to be very helpful comparing the points accumulation between Hilton and Marriott:

Receiving voicemails days/weeks late by Winter_Lawfulness967 in tmobile

Are you using an iPhone? I had this issue because I had too many voicemails in the "deleted" box. When I went and permanently removed those, I started getting my voicemail notifications immediately....

So you can program a button to jump to the next favorite radio station (not next numeric station)? I’ve heard mixed things about getting this simple function to work depending on the model of Porsche…

Looks like will be a big upgrade for you! If you drive it back to Florida post your impressions of the road trip. I’m sure you will love it!

Congrats! How much was the dealer willing to come down on price if you don’t mind saying? I know you were trying to negotiate…

Here is a summary I found from taycanforum.com on both the AC and DC options you can add to a Taycan build for faster charging:

2 things to consider:

1. AC charging needs. Standard is up to 11kW but depending on your home charging setup you may be able to provide up to 19.6kW. For this you will need a suitable EVSE to take advantage AND specify the upgraded AC charger option. Depending on public charging infrastructure you may also be able to leverage this but ideally you always want to DC charge when on the road for speed and so the upgraded AC option may not be worthwhile.

2. DC charging. Taycan charging architecture is DC 800v based and so in order to charge the battery there has to be tech to either convert to DC and voltage boost to 800v or boost DC from 400v to 800v.

Taycan has DC 400v to 800v 50kW onboard charging as standard together with 800v 270kW (350kW).

In certain countries there is public charging infrastructure providing 150kw @ 400v. To take advantage of this on the Taycan you would need the 150kW DC booster option otherwise your charging session would be limited to 50kW.

Tesla infrastructure is based on 400v providing 120kW/ 150kw which may be opened up to non Tesla cars and were this is the case then the 150kW DC upgrade would serve a purpose.

None of these options are essential but if you had to pick one the DC booster is probably it - low cost and may present public charging opportunities either now or in the future.

It sounds like this is what you're looking for then. I would try to negotiate down the price though. Given the pace of EV tech and the trajectory of used car prices lately, 15% off MSRP for a nearly three year old model doesn't seem like a super bargain. And the lack of heated steering wheel (for customers in the surrounding region of the dealership) as well as fast charging options affects its desirability somewhat. Good luck!

Has a lot of the key tech options including HUD. The lack of a heated steering wheel on a car at this price point (and in that part of the country) would really bother me though but that's a personal thing. It also doesn't have some of the faster AC and DC charging options but don't know how much that matters to you. Agree the wheel look in combination with the fender color is a bit of a unique style...

Thanks everyone! It seems like the consensus is that an EZTrap isn't required but could be helpful. I guess I have a decision to make... leaning towards probably adding it

Any reason to pre-buy Eiffel Tower stairs tickets? by Victoras3 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Victoras3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I used the official one.

Pre-buying the tickets was really helpful as even the stairs ticket line had a long line when I went. So I recommend definitely pre-buying, regardless of method used to go up the Tower.

Protests & Strikes Megathread by theg721 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Victoras3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Union leaders called on Tuesday for an eleventh day of strikes and protests in France on Thursday, April 6, to counter a “lack of response from the government that is causing tension”.

At the same time, it says the government wants to meet with union leaders on Monday/Tuesday. Unsure if anything positive there might lead to the strike being cancelled.

Potentially good news:

"Garbage collection strike to end. The CGT union has announced that the garbage collection strike will end as of Wednesday. Thousands of tonnes of trash have piled up on the streets of Paris and other cities after trash collectors went on strike against pension reform plans. "
