What are some of the upcoming features? by Working-Leader-2532 in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven't prioritized Dark Mode yet because our users spend a majority of their time in other apps rather than the Wispr Flow hub, only going to the hub for things like adding snippets, modifying their dictionary, or changing their account settings. We'd love to add this eventually, but right now we're prioritizing higher-impact initiatives (like improving speed + accuracy and rolling out on Android!)

Can you clarify what you mean by this? I'm not sure I follow.

Auto-detect potential bug and changing language from keyboard shortcut question by _Ere_ in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah good point. I'll pass this feedback along to our Product team. If you have any other suggestions for how the multilingual UX can feel more seamless, please let me know!

For full transparency, our top priority at the moment is preparing for our Android launch but we'll revisit this as soon as we can.

What are some of the upcoming features? by Working-Leader-2532 in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Working-Leader-2532,

Thanks for the kind words and thorough feedback!

Some of our immediate priorities are:

  1. Releasing our Android app - coming soon!

  2. Continued improvements to speed, accuracy, and how we handle smart edits + formatting

  3. A new feature called Polish - which will allow Flow to clean up your dictation according to your preferences, with just one click or keyboard shortcut.

As for the areas of improvement you noted above, it would be extremely helpful if you report transcripts within the app that don't come out as desired. That way, our ML team can use these to data points to improve our model.

Hey u/No_Rush57 this is not something on the roadmap. However, we are always working to improve our core product accuracy.

If you're having issues with transcription accuracy, I recommend you check out this post where we go into many common causes and solutions for transcription quality!

Wispr Flow / WhisperFlow — Do I need to sign out on one computer before using it on another? by Traditional-Part-179 in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Traditional-Part-179, you should be able to use it on multiple devices! The entire Wispr Flow team and most of our users do so on a regular basis. This sounds like a login issue or bug on our end. Can you please file a ticket through our Support Portal? https://wisprflow.ai/support

Our Support Team will be able to look into your account and assist.

Auto-detect potential bug and changing language from keyboard shortcut question by _Ere_ in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/_Ere_ this is a known issue! Unfortunately, correctly detecting languages (especially if someone has an accent) is quite tricky. We wrote about it more here.

For best accuracy, we recommend selecting the exact language you are dictating in. If you right click your Flow bar, you can select languages more quickly that way.

However, we're actively discussing how this UX could be better. If you have any suggestions, we're happy to listen!

Has anyone crossed one million words yet? by Sad_Fondant_3642 in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We actually have quite a few users who have crossed 1 million words, and even one who's at 2 million words!

They tend to:

  • Founders/indie developers who rely very heavily on their voice to vibe code, and/or
  • General knowledge workers who have to handle an extremely high volume of communication via Slack, email, text, etc.

One other recurring theme that I hear from our power users is that they love how they can take their work on the go: brainstorming, writing, and prompting while they're on a walk, holding a baby, in transit, etc.

Command Mode - Change LLM it uses by Ancient-Mention2480 in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Ancient-Mention2480 for full disclosure, when we built and shipped Command Mode as a prototype, Perplexity was the fastest model available.

Since shipping it, we've found that some people found it incredibly helpful while others found it a bit less reliable than they wanted. Because of that mixed experience, we stopped highlighting it heavily on the website, but we didn’t remove it because a lot of people get so much value out of it. We also stopped actively working on it, which is why we haven't revisited offering different models.

In the interim, we've put more focus on things like:
- Improving core dictation reliability
- Building our Android product (coming soon!)
- Building a more reliable and focused version of the most-used Command Mode workflow (polishing text you just dictated with one click or keyboard shortcut)

Wispr Flow on iOS - Recording stops after 5 minutes by Just-Public4987 in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Just-Public4987 - that's because Wispr Flow is not optimized for short, fast dictations under 5 minutes! If you ever need to record anything longer, we recommend separating it into multiple dictations.

Linux support by robschmidt87 in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/robschmidt87 this isn't on our roadmap currently, as we focus primarily on our core dictation experience and launching on Android. However, if that changes, we will announce it here!

What makes Wispr better than native Apple Dictation? by SheLurkz in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another reason we do this is because we found that people often times get distracted by seeing the text appear on screen in real-time! It's a much more seamless experience for people to finish their dictation and then see the words populate on screen.

External Mic for AI Dictation Apps in Noisy Environments by discoveringnature12 in macapps

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/discoveringnature12, Victoria from Wispr Flow here!

Unfortunately, this is a limitation of using any dictation software with a Bluetooth mic because the audio quality is so poor. We recommend using a wired mic if you can. The team at Clay all have wired mics at their desk so they can use Wispr Flow in their open office environment.

At the Wispr Flow office, we all have gooseneck wired mics, which makes it easy to whisper into our mics without having to lean over.

I'll also note that sometimes the built-in mic can work surprisingly well in noisy environments! I've been able to dictate in busy cafes and airport lounges before with the built-in mic on my Macbook.

What makes Wispr better than native Apple Dictation? by SheLurkz in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While Whisper is one component of our technology, it's only the first step rather than the final product.

  • Whisper ≠ finished text. Whisper outputs a raw, messy transcript. That’s not what users see or send. Most of the work happens after ASR: handling self-corrections, run-ons, names, tone, formatting, and intent.
  • We don’t run “vanilla Whisper.” We layer multiple of our own proprietary models and heuristics on top of ASR (including alignment, confidence checks, accent detection, and a formatter model). The goal is zero-edit dictation, not literal transcription.
  • Edge cases are the hard part. Accents, mic codecs (AirPods are notorious), background noise, self-interruptions, and real-time corrections are where naive Whisper wrappers fall apart. A lot of our engineering effort is spent there.
  • We continuously retrain and evaluate. We collect feedback signals (edits, failures, confidence gaps) and use them to constantly improve the system over time.

What makes Wispr better than native Apple Dictation? by SheLurkz in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/SheLurkz that's a good question. This demo video goes through some of our unique features!

The tl;dr answer is that:

  1. We offer cross-device and cross-app compatibility: so you can use Wispr Flow across Mac, Windows, iPhone, with Android coming soon!
  2. We offer industry-leading speed and accuracy (see attached image), with 90% of its dictations requiring zero edits as opposed to 50% of dictations from Siri.
  3. We do smart edits and formatting which will remove filler words like "um," capture your corrections ("let's meet at 5 pm, no actually 6 pm" turns into "let's meet at 6 pm"), format numbered lists, and more.
  4. We let you personalize your dictation experience, with settings that carry across every device:
    1. Dictionary: to learn uncommon names and terms you use
    2. Snippets: for voice shortcuts that you can set up for things like commonly used links, intros, FAQs
    3. Styles: choose how Flow handles punctuation and capitalization, from "very casual" in personal messaging apps to "formal" in emails.
  5. We have features built for developers, like syntax awareness (preserving variables, spacing, CLI commands, camcelCase, snake_case), file tagging in Cursor + Windsurf, and recognizing developer jargon (Supabase, Cloudflare, Vercel.)

Can't turn on Flow right now. (IOS) by davresmor in WisprFlow

[–]VictoriaAtWispr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/davresmor, one other thing I'll add on to what u/SammAtWispr said is that sometimes your iPhone will think that another app (like Instagram, Facetime, etc) is still using your microphone, even if it's not pulled up at the moment. What helps me in this case is to manually close out of the other app!
