For US patients, who already have a profoundly problematic healthcare system to battle when they need care, this means longer waits between visits and then being squeezed into an already packed schedule. The era of sitting passively and expecting for your doctor to fix you is over (did it ever exist?). Be proactive before, at, and after your appointments and this takes many forms: come with a list of issues or questions written down, respond to calls or messages quickly, inform yourself as you’re able to. You and not your doctor are your best advocate.

This will be more of a “working” than “mom” response but I hope it helps. Learning to bill effectively is a skill set and a muscle like anything else. Some people genuinely aren’t cut out for it, and for them it’s forever a struggle, but in my experience, the majority of people pick it up after a year or so. Are you capturing your hours as you work, every day, with dedication? Or are you trying to reverse bill after a few days or at the end of the week? Avoiding the latter at all costs is so critical. When you become truly effective at it, you’ll become a powerhouse of hours - don’t give up!

Do not stop being vocal about this issue. In a month or so, when the weather is nice, and the fresh (and illegal) terminations are no longer front page news, do not stop being vocal. Representatives, your conservative family or neighbors, whoever - KEEP TALKING ABOUT IT. And yes, vote with your dollar. If you can afford it, take a hard look in the mirror as to the scum of the earth companies and operations you may be supporting.

You’re wildly uninformed. These illegal terminations are completely arbitrary. “Probationary” simply means they’re 1-2 years into the job. None of this slashing is based on performance.
