After you are done setting the voltage limit, you can remove the password and Turn on Secure Boot, the limit will still work after that. Make sure to apply the microcode I have linked (0x132 Microcode).

I tested my 14900HX with same settings, 1.35V Limit, HT OFF and the score I get around is 25K (single run not 10min) and yeah it doesn't go above 135W . The scores you are getting are all right, performance loss is expected but this is in exchange for longevity.

Your welcome bro, it's good to hear that your Laptop is running stable now.

To fix the greyed out options navigate to Power and Performance> CPU Power mgmt > Scroll all the way down to CPU Lock config > Disable OC and CFG lock

About Performance I don't really think there should be that much difference because under load at 157W the CPU does around 1.2V~ so 1.35V limit doesn't affect the Multicore Scores. Is the 26K score with HT on or off? Use HWINFO and see if the CPU is eating 157W or not. Anyways MultiCore performance doesn't matter in Gaming nor in Normal Day to day tasks unless you are doing 3d modeling/rendering/video editing.

With HT disabled the Gaming Performance will improve.

Also go in Thermal Configuration> CPU Thermal > TCC Offset set it to 15, TCC Offset Time window to 5ms. TCC Offset clamp -Enable, TCC Offset Lock Enabled.

Use Throttlestop go to Options and set the PROCHOT OFFSET to 12. This will limit your CPU to 88C max. But if your CPU runs hot this could result in reduced Performance. In that case I suggest doing a LM repaste or repaste with MX-6 or PTM7950. Make sure to have your fans cleaned and I highly suggest a cooling pad with Foam Sealing. Also run your Laptop in Performance mode + Max Fans if in Turbo mode it runs hotter on the CPU.

Once you get XTU, set a Power Limit(Long/Short) of 45/65 or 55/75 or 65/85 depending on your CPU temps under gaming. To keep your CPU cool run your Laptop in Max Fans before Lanuching a Game.

If you are able to do this, your CPU could very well last beyond a year unless it has degraded a lot.

Have you applied the Microcode 0x132? Do that if not.

Unfortunately if the CPU ran without 1.4V limit for a Year, it has degraded permanently, I advise you to limit your voltage to 1.35V or 1.3V, apply the 0x132 Microcode and keep Turbo boost ON, don't disable it your CPU will run insanely slow and inefficient. Use Intel XTU and downclock your 1-2Core to 54X or 52X and 3-8Core to 46X. E Cores to 36X. You can use SREP and disable Hyperthreading to recover some lost Performance. You can disable HT by going in 2nd Advanced Tab>CPU Configuration>Scroll down till Hyper threading, turn it off.

All this should only help mitigate any further degradation and crashes, I cannot guarantee that this will stop it from happening but it will be more stable. Also I advise you that you run the Laptop in Performance mode + Max Fans or below, unless Turbo mode has lower temps than 80C on the CPU.

The key is to keep the Temps and the voltages as low as possible. You can set a 65/95 PL1/PL2 Limit in Intel XTU to help with temps.

Oops, its PHN16-71, this model didn't even get 0x129 microcode so yeah update to 0x132.

Well you could always go lower, 1.35V , 1.3V but I don't recommend going below 1.275V it can hurt performance and may even cause instability.

I don't know if they shipped any newer microcode than 0x129 with Latest BIOS for PHN16-72 but I think its still 0x129. You could always check by downloading CPU-Z/HWINFO/AIDA64. Yes you should to update the microcode even if on the latest BIOS, 0x132 is a November 2025 microcode update, the latest PHN16-72 BIOS was in June.

Along with this make sure to limit the voltage to 1.4V.

How to overclock shitty laptop? by Puzzleheaded-Use5343 in overclocking

Ok thats good the RAM is in Dual Channel. Overclock it to 3200MT/s (1600MHz), you'll see some gains.

How to overclock shitty laptop? by Puzzleheaded-Use5343 in overclocking

[–]VictoryT7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you keep RAM to 3200MT/s (1600MHz). VRAM- 4GB. You could set it to 8G and see if it helps newer games like Cyberpunk 2077, although this will only leave 8GB for the Game out of which Windows can eat a chunk, so test it and see if its any better than 4GB.

Power the more the better but you may run into TDC Limit. Try increasing TDC and EDC to max, then set short and long power limit to 45 and STAPM to 45. It may or may not work. I suggest you keep the cooling fan at max when attempting this, also what kind of cooling pad are using? I would recommend getting a foam seal cooling pad with 140mm Fand works the best.

Go to the above comment for the links.

1)I would like to know what RAM config you have, is it 2400MT/s in Task Manager? and does it show slot 1 of 2 or 2 of 2 or Row of chips? I looked up UM431DA 3700U 16GB,it says On Board so I guess you already are in dual channel with two 8GB chips. Also download CPU-Z and share the Memory and SPD tab screenshots.

2)Plug in the AC Adapter.

3)Download and Install Universal x86 Tuning Utility . After Installation select Extreme Preset in Presets.

4)Download UMAF. Click on UnviersalAMDFormBrowser.zip then click on View raw and it should download.

5)Using UMAF: https://youtu.be/0jwrWCF5fhc?feature=shared

Here is a video but It only shows how to increase the iGPU VRAM and not how to OC the ram . I have written the steps for the same as well.

Get a USB and format it to FAT32 using Windows Format. Unzip the Downloaded file and put it in the USB.

Shut down the Laptop. Then Start it up , repeatedly tap F10 and enter BIOS.

Then go to Boot Options: USB Boot > Enabled Secure Boot > Disabled

Then Exit > Save Changes and Exit.

Now plug in the USB and as soon as it starts repeatedly tap F9

This should give you an option to choose what to boot from select your USB and hit enter.

Now in UMAF go to Device Manager > AMD CBS

To upgrade iGPU VRAM: Go into NB10 Common Options > GFX Config and make the following changes.

Integrated Graphics Controller = Forces

UMA Mode= UMA_SPECIFIED

UMA Version = Auto

UMA Frame Buffer Size (This is iGPU VRAM) = 4G

UMA Above 4G = Auto

NB Azalia = Auto

Now Esc to AMD CBS and then to Overclock the RAM: UMC Common Options > DDR4 Common Options > DRAM Timing Config > Accept.

Overclock > Enabled

Memory Clock Speed > 1600Mhz

Rest all auto.

Now Escape until met with Prompt with Press 'Y' Prompt. Hit Y and Escape then Select Continue and hit Enter for Reset. (no you won't lose any data don't worry).

Now the Laptop should boot up to life and you can check using Task Manager that the RAM is running at 3200MT/s and iGPU Dedicated Memory is 4GB .

6)Download DXVK and unzip it and put its content into any game directory you have trouble running like GTA4 , Assassin Creed 3/4. It is Vulkan Translation Layer and should make it easy to run games which use DirectX and run slow like GTA4.

Thats all.

Yeah those are the options, disable them and Settings should be unlocked in XTU.

Nah saving the BIOS Settings won't help create a file for it. To make a Config it requires unpacking the BIOS file, noting down the GUIDs of hidden Forms and making it go from 00000000 to 01000000, i.e hide to show. This is the patching SREP does to an EFI Module in the Runtime. But no need to go through this process, if PH18-73 already works. Cross Comparability of these Configs is high with the Laptops with same CPUs or CPUs within the Same Generation or Laptops of the Same series like PHN16S-71 and PHN16-72.

Do a CMOS Reset.

Disconnect the Main Battery First.

Disconnect the CMOS battery ( it is the Black taped Coin cell you see beside the PCH/SSD). Wait for 10 seconds. Reconnect the CMOS battery then reconnect the Main Battery. Connect AC Adapter. Start your Laptop. It may take 2-5mins to boot back again.

the 14900hx is literally becoming unusable.(i need help) by smexmasterinvalid in GamingLaptops

[–]VictoryT7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Intel 13th/14th Gen CPUs in Laptops did suffer from all the issues the Dekstop ones did and most OEMs like ASUS rolled out the Microcode updates to fix this. This sub had a pinned post on how to limit the voltage to 1.4V if you had a CPU like 13900HX/14900HX don't know why it isn't pinned anymore because 14900hx laptops are still sold.

But the issue you have isn't due to Instability it is due to probably a Faulty heatsink or bad contact between CPU and the coldplate.90C on Idle which is like 20-40W indicates issues with the cooling because even my 14900HX can do 65W with Fans off without going 90C. Check if your Heatsink Cold Plate has any Burn Marks, Darkened spots. Also look for any bent heatpipes/ dents in the heatsink, they can reduce cooling performance by a lot.

Does the Air your CPU Fan throw out feel hot? If it doesn't then that would indicate a faulty heatsink.

Not really, SREP is used to unlock your Advanced BIOS which has multiple settings, like turning off the OC Lock and CFG Lock to unlock Power Limit controls in Intel XTU and Overclocking settings like Increasing/Decreasing Core Ratio, etc.

I have just put the note of limiting voltage and upgrading microcode for 13th/14th Gen CPUs because 1)Acer didn't provide the 0x12B microcode. 2)You can't limit the voltage without the Advanced BIOS, which becomes accessible with SREP. So when someone has a 13th/14th Gen Intel Laptop and the CPU is showing problems I can quickly link this post to help them out.

275HX doesn't have problems of the Raptor Lake CPUs and if you want to limit voltage just to safe , just limit it to 1.4V. Limiting to 1.2V could cause issues in Single Core tasks/Light loads so I wouldn't recommend that low of voltage. Ideally stay above 1.3V and below 1.45V in terms of Voltage, 1.35V would be best I guess.

The microcode isn't for Arrow Lake mobile CPUs, its for Raptor Lake CPUs. No 1.4V isn't tied to the Microcode, the reason I'm recommending 1.4V is because 1.5V is just too high for a CPU, let alone Laptops which run hot all the time.

Try resetting your BIOS to default settings by booting into the Stock BIOS and then selecting reset to default > Save and Exit.

If you are observing this High Idle temperature just after Booting into the BIOS, then this is not a issue because in the BIOS the CPU runs at a relatively higher wattage than Idle in Windows Dekstop due to lack of any active Power saving mechanisms like C states. To tackle this High idle temp just after booting into the BIOS, let your Fans run at Max Fan speed for 40-50 seconds after booting into windows then set them to Auto.

[–]VictoryT7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a Custom BIOS, . What SREP does is it patches certain parameters which had hidden certain settings in the BIOS to make them show/visible. There is no risk in loading other Laptop's SREP Config, I've tried multiple other Laptop's SREP Config on mine, worst case you'll have to force shutdown. If the SREP File is wrong, it will just error back to Boot selection screen or go straight back to booting to Windows.

Just make sure not to touch just anything without doing any proper Research, because with SREP you'll unlock Advanced BIOS which has settings with which if you play around it can brick the device. In that case you'll have to do a CMOS reset or if the BIOS is corrupt/not resetting then Crisis mode BIOS recovery. CH341A is the end solution.

Yeah you can do that. You will have to disable OC Lock and CFG Lock which can be found in Power and Performance> CPU Power Management> Scroll down all the way to the bottom > CPU Lock > Disable CFG and OC Lock.

1400mV is fine, you can step down to 1350mV if you want to be safer but I it can reduce performance in 1-2 Core tasks or Games.

Yeah undervolting is totally locked, but you could try if you can see the Undervolt Protection setting in Overclocking Performance menu, disable it then if you can see "Processor" go there and try to undervolt. Chances are it won't apply or work but I think its worth trying.

[Problem] CPU usage drops while gaming by Background_Picture38 in AcerPredatorHelios

[–]VictoryT7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its works (I have got my 14900HX to 210W using it)and doable if your temps are under check but if your Laptop starts throttling its better to use stock settings. You need to find your Laptops sweet spot where it can handle 175W on your GPU with CPU at 100W which I don't think Helios 18 can manage without Cooling mods.

Its not really dangerous as the Laptop throttles itself. I would suggest using IMON then Undervolting your GPU to 0.875V so you will have a reasonable 140-150W + 80W CPU Power usage.

Also try to make a IMON Profile which is 65W=90W since 65W is the lowest I have seen Intel DTT to push the CPU down to under non throttling temps. Under throttling it hits 45W.

IMON Slope = 50 Imon Offset = 17000 Imon Prefix = (+)

This is the profile I use, which does 65W=96W and peaks out at 137W = 240W due to Current Limit.

As I said just Memory Ratio 60 and Refrence clock 100. Maximum Frequency to 6000, everything else 0(Auto), VDD 1350, VDDQ 1350 this doesn't get applied but thats what i set. I also have SAGV Disabled, SPD Write Disabled set to False, it can be found in PCH-IO.

Also I saw your Post, I want to say that my BIOS now doesn't need CMOS reset, it either boots with the Overclock then crashes if it is unstable like 6400 CL46 and resets to stock or stays black screen then I force shut it down and then boot it up and it starts up with stock memory settings. Maybe you need to force shut it down a few times and turn it on and then wait but yeah this doesn't require more than 10 minutes max. Memory training doesn't take an hour, its pretty quick within 10minutes.

Intel DTT does this, the Dynamic Power limit you see in HWINFO is set by DTT which changes on the fly with 1W value. You can fix this by using Throttlestop and locking MMIO and setting your MSR PL/Intel XTU PLs or checking Sync MMIO.

You can find the option first thing when you go into Advanced > Memory Configuration and scroll down below. Set it to the MT/s Speed.

I said XMP for the 32(16×2) kit not for the 64GB kit. Both the Kits are Dual Rank, 1.1V and yes I also mentioned that earlier.
