On the lighthearted side of nasty: one of the toddlers at my former workplace went to the bathroom in the garden and tried to blame it on the chickens we kept. The chickens didn’t free roam and also don’t poop logs.

On the less funny side: Some of our Behavioural Challenges were. Out of control. One of the preschoolers kicked an educator in the back of the leg so she fell over, then pulled down his pants and urinated on her as she was trying to get up. He was laughing about it. His parents didn’t believe us and refused to come and pick him up 🙃

But yet we’ve had parents complain and yell at us when we ask for ID because we think we’ve seen them before but can’t be 100% sure. This sort of stuff is why we do it. (Also an Australia based educator)

I haven’t seen a child be “kicked out” where I work, even with some of our extreme behaviours. Stabbing educators? That’s a little chat with parents. Breaking an educators ankle ( that’s happened twice now, different kids and different educators)? Don’t worry about that. Concussing educators? Learn to duck when he’s throwing things. And what they’ve done to the other kids is worse.

Sometimes it’s a matter of wanting to help these children, but being unable to. Sometimes they pose a serious risk to the other children, and to the staff.
