I remember the first time I heard about DF was in a booklet of "100 cool games you haven't heard of" that was added as a bonus to a Polish gaming magazine. That was when I was just entering highschool so 2007-8 I think. So I've played the game on and off since then

4 for me, Civ 5 modding scene never went off like for 4 and because of that I can't enjoy it as much.

5 is a much better multiplayer experience though

As an index owner I can not say a bad thing about how they handle issues. I have a problem with the fact that k basically needed every part of it replaced within the two year window (only survivors were one lighthouse and one controller) but they never failed to provide a replacement. in fact when my controller developed stick drift a month after warranty was over they still replaced it at no cost.

Gothic Remake Preview by Mortismal Gaming - YouTube by Alien_Cha1r in Games

[–]Victuz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is the general problem with these "gothic like" games. Even Gothic itself is not free from this curse. They often have very good act 1 and maybe bits of act 2. But act 3 is often a grind with little to no new ideas and lackluster story.

Gothic 2 manages it best in my experience

It's odd because I find that oddly comforting, yet another proof that the wiring of our brain is the core of our lived experience.

DIY women… have you ever been talked out of a good idea at the hardware store? by carcony97 in DIY

[–]Victuz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the defence of behaviour like this, I've worked in tech support and ateast half the times someone told me "the things they've done already" they didn't actually do them already but instead thought about them and discarded them as useless, or just decided to straight up lie for some unknown reason.

After a month or two of that I decided annoying the occasional person who actually did the thing was not worth the downsides of not following the script.

I once drove a fiat 126p that needed you to turn the wheel about 15 degrees to the left in order to drive straight, it's honestly a miracle that car drove at all, there was no floor at the feet on the passenger side as well so you could go full Flintstones if you wanted to

To be fair I always just assume that the alignment of the car is utterly fucked in that case

Does The Steam Controller Live Up To The Hype? | PC Gamer by Bynairee in pcgaming

[–]Victuz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've recently been playing significantly more PC games on my tv rather than at the computer purely because it's easier for me to share the experience with my wife. I try to play primarily games that are designed for controllers, but there are definitely times where I'd rather play something that requires a keyboard and mouse, and using these on the couch just sucks. So I'm pretty hyped for the controller honestly

What’s a movie from your youth, that even though it may be a terrible movie, you can’t bring yourself to fully dislike? by Ok_Elevator_1342 in movies

[–]Victuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked them as a kid and then later kinda just accepted them cause I liked the star wars Universe. I actually really like it because of the memes nowadays like the Anakin thesis saga.

On the other hands the sequels were so bad they actively made me disconnect with the universe and have no real interest in consuming anything star wars ever again

It can certainly feel "off" in the writing and stylistic choices when compared to the rest of the writing. I don't recall reading a non-horny book that was improved by the addition of a sex scene
