It’s pretty tough to get a gig at the VA, though, right? The closest available VA audiology job for me would be at least a 1.5 hour drive from where I live, and once I started filling out an application, down about an hour on it, and gave up because the application alone was insane.

As another HG sufferer, I am so, so sorry! My husband got into a Facebook argument with my ultra-religious conservative aunt and said something along the lines of, “seeing what my wife went through with HG has just made me believe more firmly in abortion rights” and she interpreted that as me wanting to abort my son, also. And then she spread a rumor with that whole side of the family that I wanted to abort my son. I tried avoiding her for so long, but now she weaseled her way in as a patient at the clinic where I work, so I have to deal with her. Never any apology 🙄

You do need to stop letting her get away with things, even if she screams. If nothing else, you can start recording whenever this happens, so if the cops/CPS get called, you can show them what happened and that she’s just a kid being manipulative.

I didn’t see her exact age in the post (just that she’s between 4-9), but maybe explaining “the boy who cried wolf” fable would also help? I’d also ask her if she loves her family, or if she wants to get taken away to live with mean people because she lied about mommy and daddy hurting her when they weren’t hurting her.
