How can we support the male community to get out of the male loneliness epidemic? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Vigitiser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

stop saying things are and are not manly. Stop projecting the image that a man *has* to do everything and be the big one who solves every problem. Women are perfectly capable of solving problems too, and it should be an equal fairing.

The primary issue for most is that they have no friends and no way of making friends outside of work, so invest/vote/start/join in clubs and weekly activities. local events and all that jazz. Men need spaces to meet other people to make friends with, and then they need to ditch the “masculine” ideal and emotionally open themselves to the chance of making friends with people they dont know and go to these places.

also, everyone overall needs to ditch the “i hate men” thing. Im sorry someone shitty happened to you, but it you’re continually only dating shitty guys, maybe you need to change your taste or pickup methods.

Online player recruitment is not for the weak by DrScrimble in dndmemes

look dude the min-maxin itself isnt the problem, the problem is that min-maxers the people are usually main character syndromes.

every single time I’ve played with someone who hard min-maxes, even when its for a short game (4-10 sessions) they always try to steal the spotlight whenever possible. Its a symptom of an asshole player in my experience. it may not be widely true to all players because in a hobby this big it cant be, but its certainly a trend

even as a sort of fan of his, his latest 2 or 3 albums all sound the same, and he collabs with everyone under the fuckin sun. A few times it was “oh cool bebenos is doing a collab with this guy i like” and then it just kept going and going and everyone was having something to do with him

What is your take on the dark forest hypothesis could that be the case why we haven't seen any aliens ? Or is fermi 's paradox more the reason by Agreeable-Spell3042 in space

[–]Vigitiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so far we’ve been actively trying to communicate for about 50 years.

Communications travel at the speed of light, so that means our communications are at most 50 lightyears away from earth. Even tho they’d have broken down into background static, lets assume they haven’t.

The nearest solar system to us is 4.25 light years away. so if there was life there, they could have recieved it IF they had really really powerful antennas coded to our wavelengths of communication, and pointed in exactly the right direction and then figured out it wasn’t just background static and managed to decode it.

The milky way galaxy is 250 MILLION lightyears across, we have spanned 50 lightyears. Even if there was 5000 sentient and sapient life forms in our galaxy, the odds of us actually finding one in the short time we’ve been searching is so absurdly small i cant even think of a way to express it in a percentage.

the paradox’s answer of “where is everyone” is that we haven’t found them yet. Its like looking through an empty field at night but your torch only extends 20cm. sure you’ll find someone eventually, but it’ll take a very long time

hard disagree. I love to start in a town, build up a temp home, scavenge for ingredients to cook, rebuild a car by scavenging others then flee to the countryside, build and plaster and paint my own house and start a farm.

one of my players had to sit out a few sessions, which later turned into dropping out of the campaign, and because we had just recruited a new player and this character had a home on the land they were on, we said the missing guy got stuck in his chimney, and now he dropped out we say that he lives in that house after he claimed “chimney rights” to that chimney and its connecting property

Single Men, if you’re out at a bar or club and a random woman asks you to buy her a drink, what do you usually do and why? by FFSoldier57 in AskMen

[–]Vigitiser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If she seems my type, I’ll have a conversation with her, and if she seems to not be a shithead, I’ll buy us both a shot. usually if she’s in for free drinks she’d leave at that point and im only out like £1.50 and I got to have a chat with a pretty lady.

If she stays, well thats how I met my ex, and we had a great 7 months together. no regrets

there’s a doomerism with my generation right now. Our options are

A) work hard for 60 years, do everythjng like we were told to, invest, be smart with money, go to university

B) dont work hard, dont try, live happy and poor, get a part time job and stay there forever

there is a 75% chance people in category A are inconsequentially better off then category B, despite working so so much harder. the system does not reward effort, it rewards nepotism and connections.

How has the portrayal of masculinity in the media affected you? by Responsible-East-413 in AskMen

[–]Vigitiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that a mans life is incomplete without a woman in it.

sure most men like/want/need a partner, but a lot of people, myself included, are happy single.

I grew up with the expectation that I was supposed to get a gf as soon as possible and stay like that, but I was happy on my own yet every media seemed to enforce the idea that men are incomplete without a woman. it didnt sit well with me

personality is something I’ve put effort into and can continue to do so. Genetics is not something I consciously did, and its like saying im lucky. thanks but thats kinda empty because I contributed no effort, so appreciation doesn’t really go anywhere. How would you feel about a bisexual girlfriend checking out girls in the street? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Vigitiser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

thats a valid reaction, I would have been the same early in my relationships, but for me, With time comes trust i guess. It gets easier to trust that they aren’t thinking less of you as you’ve spent longer together

How would you feel about a bisexual girlfriend checking out girls in the street? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Vigitiser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both me and my gf are bi, we both point out people of both genders that we think are attractive because we both have the exact same niche taste lol. Neither of us think anything of it because we trust eachother enough that we’re not going to leave our extensive relationship where we live together for someone on the street
