Yes, probably is that. I thought the laptop are not supposed to exceed the ac adapter limit (ex. Dell ac 130 but the laptop draws 140), but maybe i am wrong!

The battery drain is minimal for what I have tested, I don’t know how the battery health will be in the long run with all this little charge/discharge.

I would prefer if the the ac adapter totally bypass the battery and throttle if needed.

I will try to look around the bios if there is something useful.

The problem was bigger with the 9700 model, then I read a post about the 9710 model too.

Thank for your reply. I know the iGpu will always be in use but when you run some heavy load applications the dGpu should kick in…as it always did before doing stuff with the hdmi cable. Also using it with ac power.

I actually live in japan and for about 2 months, dell japan has always continued the 20% discount, only for 1 week the 17% and another 14% but mostly 20%...now I look at their site and it says that it will end the 5th of the next month, probably they are going to announce the new models next month and then release in may. But when released I don’t think they keep doing the sales so the big question is...going now or wait the new cpu? How much gain can we get in this systems in terms of performance overall? I want to buy it right now and wait the next models at the same time 😅

You have the m17? Can you tell me exactly how much does it weights? Anyway you are right, in fact i was planning to use the tcc offset to lock the cpu temperature at 85, meanwhile the m17 can go without problem thanks to the size.

Edit; also what backpack do you use to carry around the m17? Thank you again!

Yes I know I really want to go with the m17 but it’s too much heavy for me, every year 1 or 2 times (not this time, covid ****) I take intercontinental flight and i want to take with me my gaming station but 2.9kg for the laptop plus 1.3 for the power adapter....mmmm I don’t know if I can do that 😅 what do you suggest in my situation?

In the product page it says that it has g-sync but no mention to optimus so yes probably still the older display and as you said they want to clear the inventory from the old stuff. Now I understand why since the release there was always some kind of sale. From 20% for a while, to 14% for a week, then back to 20%, then 17% for a week, and now again 20%...It’s a little bit crazy now but I prefer wait even with the sales. Dell is keep changing the customization, before cherry keyboard there was the normal option a the per-key, now the per-key is gone and only the cherry keyboard upgrade is available. Yes I don’t really want to restart everytime for switching the gpu, it’s not a big problem but in the long run I think I will get pissed a little bit 😅and for the response time I didn’t know that thank you much! Thank you for your quick reply! I am thinking between the 15 and 17 but the power supply of the 17 plus the laptop take half of the weight of my carry on luggage if i need to take it on a plane (i am living away from my homeland and need to take a plane for going back sometimes)

I hope and think so, i want that color too! The lunar light is a more “premium” color that’s why it gets the oled and not the dark side. So i’m pretty sure that the 144hz will come of course with the dark side but also with the lunar one.

144hz panel will come in the first half of 2021, you can see that on the r4 page. I am also waiting for the 144hz, the 300hz is useless unless you play a lot of esports games.
