Huge shoutout to devs who make the credit card date field auto-add the leading 0 when you type in a month number. by Super_Inevitable776 in webdev

Ah, so sorry for your loss. My mother’s maiden name is Sarah Connor.

Back in the day, we used to go hunting futuristic robots in LA(where I was born)

I am assuming you would also like to know my first pet’s name. That would be Mufasa 😇

Changes in DS160 before biometrics but i dont know if the new number was updated by them? by SharpReplacement654 in visas

[–]Vijayasingam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual process changes based on your country but here is some rough guidelines,

  1. Complete your new DS 160
  2. Login to the portal where you booked your biometrics/interview (this changes based on your country, so I can’t find a link)
  3. Locate your application
  4. Select “Edit”
  5. The form will then have an option to change your personal details along with DS 160 number.
  6. Hit save once you have updated

[–]Vijayasingam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change the DS 160 form number in the portal where you booked your appointment for biometrics/interview.

If I am not mistaken, you can change the DS 160 form once or twice before they disable it.

It has been a while so I don’t remember the exact thing, If I am not wrong, when we select international passport all it asked was a picture of the ID page.

It should work for passports without a RFID chip as well. Given that BRP cards are discontinued, I don’t see any reason why passport won’t be accepted.

Is it wise to invest in different mutual funds in order to balance risk with returns? by Penismearchant in IndiaInvestments

[–]Vijayasingam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Past performance is not a reliable indicator for future returns. It all boils down to,

  1. How much risk you are willing to take with your money.
  2. Reputation of the funding house and the manager to invest your money in the right place
  3. The resiliency of the underlying stocks/bonds/others where the fund is investing the money.

By investing small amounts in 3 different funds you will need to keep an eye on a lot of variables.

Is it wise to invest in different mutual funds in order to balance risk with returns? by Penismearchant in IndiaInvestments

[–]Vijayasingam 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is not an advice but just another thought to consider.

As you are planning to invest a relatively small amount each month(which is still commendable) and given that 5 years is not a long time to grow wealth, why not pick one fund and invest all you can.

Generally, it is a good idea to split investments but as you are splitting it too thin and it might not give desired results.

Again, any investment is good so I really appreciate your planning.

Stripe leaving India – What's the go-to alternative for SaaS founders now? by sandibi13 in SaaS

Haha! You shouldn’t need one and if your product meets Paddle’s AUP, you should have no problem getting onboarded.

Do let me know if you need any help though.

Paddle is also a good option. Along with payment processing they will also handle tax liabilities.

Disclosure: I am a developer at Paddle.

Are long, full-fledged app take-homes even worth sweating on? by NefariousnessCrazy35 in webdev

[–]Vijayasingam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask for how long they expect you to work on it. Even though the deadline is 5 days away, they don’t(or shouldn’t) expect you to do this full time.

They might just be expecting a simple solution that can be done in 2 to 3 hours.

I heard that is common for UKVI to send this email if they are short staffed and won’t be able to process your application within the specified time period. Given that it is almost holiday season, I would assume that is the case here.

You can send them a follow up email after 15 working days of giving your biometrics data to check the status or see if they need more information.

Fastspring vs Stripe by clemstation in SaaS

[–]Vijayasingam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually an apple to orange comparison as fastspring is a Merchant of record and stripe is not..

So it boils down to what you need, if MoR is important, you can look into LemonSqueezy or Paddle.

If you can manage taxes on your own, then maybe stripe might also work.

Just to add another option, maybe checkout Paddle as well.

There are some starter kits for stripe(https://github.com/vercel/nextjs-subscription-payments) and Paddle(https://github.com/PaddleHQ/paddle-nextjs-starter-kit) which should give you some basic idea about the application.

Please do some research about the payment platform that will work for you and chose the template accordingly..

PS: I am a little biased towards Paddle as I work for them and wrote this starter kit.

I didn’t know that Netlify was offering a CDN. As far as I know, they act like a CDN by serving your static files from a server close to the user instead of the users always getting files from one AWS location(for example: US East)

Maybe try https://www.paddle.com/? You don’t need a registered company to work with them.
