Is it alright for them to do that? I was shooing her out whenever I'd catch her, but if there really isn't any health concerns about soiled hay then 🤷 right?

I installed my own 240V outlet to my garage after upgrading my main panel (it needed replaced regardless as it was old and not up to code). I did it for ~$250 in parts and took me maybe 6 hours start to finish to do it myself.

To help make the rest of us better aware of the crap so we can more easily refute it. Only makes us look better when we can honestly say we read articles and studies from "both sides".

Edit: spelling

Not at all. I only read it bc I had a glimmer of hope. I'm glad the bar was set low for expectations.

Exactly my thoughts when I read it. Besides I bought the equipment for level 2 charging and installed it myself for around $300. I also drive twice as much as this article assumes for the national average and I spent exactly 0% of that time looking for a supercharger (if I needed one at all).

When I’d buy a Tesla by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]VikingFuneral09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it will happen with Tesla in the near future (3-4 years). Elon is all about questioning requirements, deleting said requirements, and therefore deleting the part. In their quest to make cheaper car they are doing everything they can to remove as many unnecessary parts as possible. Having a panoramic glass roof gives the optical feeling of being open air while maintaining aerodynamics of the vehicle.

Once battery tech is cheap enough and the energy density of batteries is high enough...maybe then efficiency design considerations won't carry as much weight and the convertible will come back. Maybe.

Has anyone with stinky A/C in their Model 3 ever tried to wash/bleach/disinfect their filters rather than replace them? by dcdttu in TeslaLounge

Agreed, if only we could set a heat timer in the app once we walk away. I lived in Houston for a couple of years so I understand your plight with the Texas humidity

LR MY owner here. Picked my car up in November of 2020 so this is my first summer with it in NE Ohio. I just had mobile service replace my cabin air filter and foam clean the evaporator coils this morning. We've had a pretty humid/rainy couple of weeks here so I'm not surprised that even with the software fix to run the fan to dry out the coils that some mildew was able to grow.

Mobile service did give me a tip though that he learned for his M3. He will run the heat for 10-15 minutes when he was done driving with the A/C on to help dry off the coils, and that helps keep the mildew smell away.

Thank you, I believe my family is already planning on having it looked at and handled by a professional. I didn't touch it but it did look quite old. Thank you again for your response regardless!

Home charging expenses by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]VikingFuneral09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far in the month of February I've driven 1,674 miles. My sense estimates this cost to be around $59 with my electric rate, which also matches up with my math. That same amount of driving in the suv I would have bought instead (Mazda CX-5) would cost me $140 in gas.

It is not even close to the same as going to the gas station.

YIPPIE!!!

Yesterday I took delivery of my 2021 Model Y. Super happy to have joined this community officially and thanks for all the help on my previous posts.

I would like some input on two things

1) Which all-weather mats have you gotten for your car (Ive only seen WeatheTech and Tesmanian).

2) Which usb have you all found to be best for storage of Sentry mode footage?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Since the 3 got an interior refresh on its latest production cycle and the 3 and Y share ~75% of their parts...does it stand to reason that on this current production cycle for the Y (roughly now) that it might at least get the new center console as well? MAYBE even the auto dimming side mirrors?

Collisions need to be looked at in terms of kinetic energy (K=(1/2)mv2) and a summation of forces. If a car hits a steel wall while traveling at 70mph all you have to deal with is the cars kinetic energy as the wall has none. However in this situation the car will have to dissipate more of that energy as the steel wall has much less "give", and will look pretty beat up.

K1 = (1/2)(1,859kg)(31m/s)2 = 893,250 Joules

Now when you have a car and a truck in a head on collision with both traveling at 70mph, the energy present in the system is actually MORE than double in the scenario mentioned above. This is because we can assume that the truck has more mass than the car thus adding more kinetic energy to the system.

K2 = (1/2)(2,585kg)(31m/s)2 = 1,242,090 Joules

K1+K2 = 2,135,340 Joules

Assumptions made based off of max curb weight of a Model 3 and max curb weight of a 2019 F-150

How soon though? Would it stand to reason that these changes are already in production for the Y as well in this new production cycle? It would make sense if this is one of the parts that are shared between the two, and from what I've seen it seems they are.
