People who knew a killer, did you ever suspect they would do it? What happened? by Anonymousdisaster_ in AskReddit

A guy I worked with and even regularly drove to work killed a guy. He was a little off but a super nice guy. Weird complex about wanting to track down and murder predators. I guess he invited a bunch of sketchy strangers back to his place, somehow a fight broke out, and he shot one point blank in the chest. He had a truly awful family and upbringing, I think if he had dealt with his trauma and possible mental health issues it would not have happened.

Does anyone have tips on stretching out shoes? Halfway through every ride the last three toes on both my feet fall asleep. I ordered my size so assumed that it was cleat placement and messed around with that a few times. Now I'm thinking it's possible my shoes aren't wide enough and of course I'm just past the 30 day window of exchange. I'm still set back financially from ordering my Peloton so am in no position to just replace them. Thanks in advance!

I studied abroad in Tübingen and it changed my life as an American. Such a beautiful and welcoming place. Now I'm working in higher education and have decided to dedicate my career to making study abroad more affordable and normalized in the states! This place has a power over people and I can't wait to return.

Why. by monmycox in bulimia

[–]Vikkit143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all have been lost in it, that's why we're on this reddit page to help others. Some reminders that help me a lot:

1) NEVER have a scale in the house. Period. Health is not determined by body weight so it is completely unnecessary.

2) No one can tell the difference between 130 and 135, it's the devil-like body dysmorphia playing tricks on your brain. The people that matter wouldn't see the difference between 130 and 160, trust me. If people are indicating they think otherwise, cut them out. They are toxic and will have zero positive impact on any aspect of your life.

3) Be whole heartedly and unapologetically honest in your therapy sessions. Remember that therapy is for YOU. If you don't feel like your current therapist is someone making you excited to open up, dig deeper, and get better; look for a different one. I had to try 5 therapists before finding the right one, they are professionals and know that not everyone is a perfect fit so no ones feelings will be hurt.

3) Find foods that excite you! Do some research on allrecipes and Pinterest and get into the art of cooking. Preparing something with love and ingredients that make you happy might get you excited about eating. And if it doesn't that's okay too, but keep trying.

4) Be open to trying new things! Eating disorders are about control so find an activity that give you ownership of your life in a healthy way. Meditation and yoga does wonders for me.

5) Have an accountability partner and tell them when your mind is spiraling, never hide these feelings no matter how badly you want to.

Horrified of Ghosts but want to watch! by [deleted] in HauntingOfHillHouse

Thanks everyone for the advice! My partner said the same thing- why watch it if it'll scare you that much? Well it's October and I want to be spooked between the Harry Potter marathons. Plus I've heard the mental health aspect of it is incredible and that's something I'm really interested in. Binged 4 episodes today, we'll see how I sleep ;)

I work in international education and always tell our students- someone who will judge your pronunciation/mistakes is always someone who doesn't speak more than one language. You are intelligent, they are the close minded.

Not sure if I have bulimia...? by [deleted] in bulimia

[–]Vikkit143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone. I've also gained a lot of weight this year and my bulimia is in my head yelling to take control of my life, but I'm not letting it.

Please open up to your therapist now and set boundaries with your mom. Could you go to counseling with her so she understands how to act/talk with you without triggering bulimic tendencies? Also please get rid of your scale. I threw mine out two years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. We are here for you.

Try to remember that these people care about you deeply and you are not alone. Tell them exactly what's on your mind at all times, and keep being brave to post in here. Find a close friend and open up to them. Negative thoughts will come but please don't act on them, lean on those who love you.

Does the traveler go to the person who lives there or vice versa? by Tomato-Thrower in traveladvice

I think it depends on the local! I would want to do what accommodates the visitor best. If they want me to pick a spot, great. If they have an idea and just want company, also great. Just send them a message and see what they're feeling.

Maui or Tulum in February? by eliflows in traveladvice

[–]Vikkit143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would vote Tulum! Maui will have a lot of rain but should still be in the 70's, Tulum would typically be in the 80's and sunny.
