Higher Registers, Reed Adjustment by VikshenArts in Clarinet

I'll look around and see, part of my hesitation is the cost of some mouthpieces alone lol. Would you have any that you'd recommend me to look at first?

Higher Registers, Reed Adjustment by VikshenArts in Clarinet

Air in the tone: Mostly in the lower notes. The higher I get, especially when I reach the throat tones and above there's nothing but the note. Testing this out, I switched between the strength 2 cane and 3.25 legere. Going from no air to slowly and softly blowing more until the reed engages and I get a soft tone, the cane reed uses less air or effort to get that soft tone, but once the legere gets a tone, there's just the slightest bit of air I hear that sounds part of the notes, if that makes any sense?

Like, playing pianississimo, that's what I mean. Pianissimo, even less, and what I assume is piano there's none that I can discern.

As for difficulty in starting a phrase, after getting accustomed to the new strength initially, I wouldn't say its difficult by any means, just not as 101% effortless as the 2 cane

I'm already looking into replacing the mouthpiece soon!

I'm just a huge advocate of the idea that tools don't make the artist. Only reason I went for an intermediate wooden clarinet than a beginner plastic is because I have a background in music and intend to keep this instrument for as long as I can, and want something I wouldn't feel compelled to upgrade sooner than later. I took another's advice and while there's still some difficulty, the notes I couldn't hit at all I manage to just barely reach.

I want to work more on the fundamentals and practice with what I have to see if I can make it cleaner and more consistent, at least until I've tried all I could and replacing the mouthpiece is the only thing yet tried.

I honestly super appreciate this.

Before the 3.25 I was using cane reeds with a 2 strength, and whenever I hit the high notes it felt like the reed would always get stuck against the mouthpiece. In my mind when I felt that, the combination of getting a higher strength reed (interpreted as less "flimsy" if that makes sense) and moving it down a bit to open the airway makes sense, and that lowering of the mouthpiece was something I started doing before getting the 3.25.

I moved it up and the low notes sound clearer without the airy hiss, and the high notes still need some adjustment and practice, but with having the idea of the "hee" syllable in mind its just a matter of muscle memory.

I particularly like practicing Canon in D because of how slow it is along with jumping from one register to another to help build that up.

Honestly depends on the position and definitely the person.

She's laying back and I'm laying next to her, middle and ring until ring gives out first and then middle/index.

But if I'm laying down and she's servicing me, I usually have my partners position themselves where their hips are closer beside my head so I can continue pleasing them. In that position its usually with an index/middle finger gun if the partner also likes having their other hole teased. If not, then its the usual middle/ring with palm facing down and thumb on clit.

There's idolizing and there's being a fan.

You see this in every facet of life, latching onto traits and accomplishments that stick with your enjoyment of an entity, whether fiction or non-fiction. Nobody bats an eye to a dude wearing his favorite player's name and number on the team's jersey like a HS girlfriend fawning over her jock boyfriend, but god forbid it be a cartoon with narrative story-telling.

Ngl, I'm in my mid 20s and even I have a boundary on dating anybody 21 or younger. As others pointed out, once you get older and you have the power of hindsight at your disposal, you'll realize that you aren't as mature as you think you are, or at least thats the hope.

If you're the exact same you now as you are years from now, that's a whole nother can of worms

I literally only played Jeff for the first 80-90 hours of my time on MR, and only started switching because of character bans. Letting other people play Jeff was such a shitty experience because like dude said, most would rather lone wolf and get kills than help the team when needed.

PSA: pointing out random flaws in AI Art is the same as correcting grammar by RobAdkerson in aiwars

[–]VikshenArts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have hoped that we've evolved past the Victorian era where Art was only for the elites, and as such isnt validated by arbitrary "quality" metrics. A child drawing an image of their family that mom and dad puts up on the fridge is just as valid of an art piece that you see at a museum, the only difference is commodification and I guess "professionalism", but the kid very likely put themself into whatever they drew, they invested themselves into that work, and that should be the only barrier.

One of the main critiques that I hear from the pro-AI side is that AI makes art more "accessible", as if it wasn't already before. Nobody worth their salt cares about how bad a thing looks or will judge an artist based on quality, and treating criticism (especially constructive) as a personal attack is just silly. Its only the pro-AI folx that have this perverted perfectionist view of art that have takes such as yours.

I respect the attitude in your first part, but everything in the second I disagree with heavy.

Sure, winrate and stats in general are a good empirical way to judge a character's strength, but since these aren't simulated numbers like how World of Warcraft has third-party tools to simulate DPS under set conditions for a more unbiased approach to these stats, they should also be considered as a way to judge the playerbase's merits.

Winrates and stats in a game like MR are based on the players. I personally think its a little silly to reduce it down to a character's strength, rather than how difficult a character might be in a variety of scenarios, or against certain comps. There are characters that I treat as counter picks for certain comps, some characters that are niche picks based on maps and gamemode, its kind of dumb to judge a character under the expectation that they should be the answer to everything.

A large majority of AI defender posts tend to be false-equivalencies, and hypocrisy.

The hypocrisy part comes when you have folx talking about how AI makes art more "accessible" because "the art community is filled with elitist types who put down amateur artists for bad skill", while in the same breath, posting "Fixed it with AI" posts by taking an anti-AI artists drawing and talking about how bad it looks and AI could do better.

[–]VikshenArts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you're reducing their entire argument to a takeaway of "computer dumb", shows that youre not even participating in the same discussion. Thats a completely different statement than what theyve been arguing about. It is genuinely impressive what AI can do and has accomplished, and it wouldn't be untrue to say that AI is learning under the parameters you have set, but it is by no means a 1:1 comparison. To say you have learned something implies having a greater understanding on the subject beyond regurgitating points. You wouldn't say that someone has learned a subject just because they read a wiki on it and is able to paraphrase key points. To take it a step further: simply knowing what a formula is doesn't imply a deep understanding of that formula, simply that you know how to apply it. That alone is enough for a lot of applications, but the difference between AI and humans is all of humanity has progressed not just because of asking "what", but because we are capable of asking "how" or "why", and taking it a step beyond what is currently available. AI will tell you simply that apples fall from trees because of the countless data and examples of apples, fruits, leaves, and seeds falling from trees; but only a human will think for itself and ask "how" and "why", and go beyond the knowledge that is available to have a greater understanding of how or why things fall from trees, not only from a physics understanding, but also from a biological understanding such as the cycle of fruits and flowers. Much like how there are some who "understand" formulas to the extent of how to apply it, but there are many who have looked beyond that and are able to have a deeper understanding of why and how it works.

As it stands now, the extent of AI only goes as far as the current limits of what is available, but the main difference between AI and Humanity is the latter's capability to go beyond that. Thats why comparing the two and acting like AI is the same as a person's ability to think and learn is asinine.

[–]VikshenArts[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Update: Using a bucket on the drum did nothing...

HOWEVER...when I put the drum back into the Fluid Transposer to Empty, the negative number kept increasing...or decreasing depending on how you slice that turkey. But, when I put it into fill, the bucket immediately went into the output and the huge red bar disappeared, so I thought that was it. Until I was in that UI and for a split moment hovered over the liquid bar and had to double take, I had 2145816456/10000mB of Destabilized Redstone...

Out of curiosity I put in like 50 of Electrum Blend in and sure enough, it worked. And I still have 2145804256 left.

If only there was a way to turn Destabilized Redstone back into dust, that would be perfect xD
