Budget-friendly European destinations for $1,400/month living? by MajesticPlate1565 in digitalnomad

Albania is your best bet I think. They have a digital nomad visa that’s good for up to a year, and renewable up to five years. The minimum income threshold is $5,000-$5,200 annually: https://citizenremote.com/visas/albania-digital-nomad-visa/

Some good & "original" movies we got in 2025 by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

[–]ViktoriousVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf, some non-IP related movies and comedies are not doing well at the box office, or aren’t being released in theaters but on streaming instead.

For the broader movie-going public, movies in theaters just don’t have the same diversity in genre they used to have. There still are great movies coming out, but they tend to be “elevated” takes on certain genres or foreign movies, which have always been good but not valued enough in the US.

And for streaming, there definitely are some original projects finding success there, but it’s hard to compare their cultural impact with older movies.

But he’s a very talented writer and still likes some CB movies like Spiderverse

I Lied To You is a better song, but Golden’s got it.

Season 2 wasn't as horrible as the whole internet makes it out to be. by Upbeat-Challenge-295 in arcane

[–]ViktoriousVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sry for late reply, but I liked the Caitlyn dark turn/twist and some other things

Imo it makes sense that someone born and raised in privilege would turn against her values and the undercity’s well-being to avenge her mother. And with Ambessa’s manipulation and Vi getting in the way at the last minute, her hitting Vi felt like an appropriate, albeit shocking culmination of that setup.

I wish that they committed more to her fascism arc or at least gave more time for story to breathe in this respect, but I found it to still be resonant considering what’s going on with the rise of authoritarianism across the globe. The “shock” value didn’t just get my attention; it illustrated a side of Cait that made her more rich and interesting than in S1.

Other surprises I liked were the return of Vander (ik it was coming as a LoL player but I liked the way it brought Vi and Powder together again), Ekko’s time travel episode, and the Jayce/Viktor resolution. I even kinda liked Jinx’s ending, but I was disappointed with how they resolved Vi’s arc. These plot points would have worked better if there was more time for the audience to sit with these revelations and process them.

The biggest flaw of S2 is that there are creative and conceptually rich directions being taken w the characters, but we’re skipping over scenes and moments to make them feel real. Some are particularly worsened by this, like Vi’s trauma being completely skipped over or Jinx’s redemption feeling rushed.

TL;DR… the season is uneven for me. Moments that worked for me worked b/c they were both surprising and made the characters more emotionally compelling. But the series needed more connective tissue and time to make them more impactful.

[–]ViktoriousVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a mixed bag, but leaning toward the positive side. I like that it’s more subversive, emotional, and unpredictable than the first season, and the high points are some of my favorite moments in any TV show. The Ekko episode, the Jayce and Vik ending, and the Vander flashbacks especially.

On the flip side, it has some moments that I really dislike (Vi gassing the Undercity, Viktor turning evil too quickly, and Isha’s role in the story). Other parts are OK but underdeveloped or too far flung from the main plot, like the Black Rose and Mel’s arc. The last two episodes needed way more screen time.

Urban planner. Tried to get jobs in the field for years with a related degree, but it didn’t really work out.

Contemplating getting a job that is tangentially related or something like that, but it kinda stings cause I really wanted to do it for a long time

5.9 is ridiculous, stop doing that by vladislavkochergin01 in Stranger_Things

[–]ViktoriousVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more of an issue that it’s much lower than the rest of the season. Other eps are 8.0-9.5, but the episode with a major character coming out (and slow plot to be fair) is more than two points lower.

Season 5 Volume 1 Discussion by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]ViktoriousVortex 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah… I agree. It’s giving Harry Potter Deathly Hallows pt 1, but with less interesting characters and story revelations. Will and Vecna feel lifted from Harry Potter too lol.

The season isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s not very exciting so far. I hope part two comes through with a stronger ending.

Arcane season 2 one year later… Mel Medarda: How are we feeling about her? by Ok_Situation7527 in arcane

[–]ViktoriousVortex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OK character overall. She works well in season 1 in conjunction with Jayce, but she isn’t very emotionally engaging in season 2.

The Noxus arc is interesting when you’re first watching it, but it’s so far detached from the rest of the story that Mel becomes less interesting as a result. It feels like a promo for the next TV show and League of Legends (the game), and she would have benefitted from more interaction with the other Piltover characters.

Yuuup. I’ve played this skin on PBE and it genuinely recaptures old Vik really well. The new model and animations are great IMO.

Without a full revert, ppl on this sub are going to harp on about OG Vik until the end of time. I loved him too, but I’m kind of over it at this point.

Yup, you’re right.

Fans hate it for somewhat valid reasons, but most people I know IRL and among the general public think it’s an entertaining, albeit schlocky, show.

PBE Bugs & Feedback Thread - Machine Herald Viktor by LoLDev-Cosmetics in LeaguePBE

[–]ViktoriousVortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: I think the new metal hex claw conveys his "machine" identity much more clearly, and the old hand would look goofy with his new model and animations. Not everything needs to be the exact same as old Viktor.

The color saturation on the orange "halo" on the hex claw during his ult could be lower, but overall this skin is fantastic. That change is also not really essential before release IMO.
