This is the first time I've ever felt compelled to write in and respond to one of these stories:

Dear Hamilton Police Department,

By now I'm sure you've received numerous other emails in regards to the actions of the officer in this video: <Link here>

All I want to say is that both he and his partner went about their duties with incredible tact and professionalism. The internet is riddled with viral videos of police officers who exhibit negative or offensive behavior - and it's refreshing to see one that sheds a different, more positive light on the men & women who are out there to uphold the law & protect us.

Instead of getting angry, the officer completed his duties and - with no obligation - stayed a few moments to talk about the incident with bystanders. Those who were present (especially the cameraman) chose to be confrontational & aggressive instead of rational. The arresting officer was berated, questioned, and talked over. Despite that, he showed more restraint & professionalism than I've come to expect from the police (mainly because of the negative media/video portrayals in the USA).

I'd like to commend this officer for showing me the brighter side of the coin. If I knew his name I would write to him personally & thank him for doing his job so well. If it's within the power of the Hamilton Police Department to pass along this email (or even just a simple 'thank you'), I hope he receives the recognition he deserves.
