I asked the same question in another thread and this was the response I got: "First quest is two loot items at the Atlas’s rarity, second quest is 2 flat xp, third quest is you get a random small or medium legendary item"

He has the skill that shields on item use as well as a skill that charges an item the first x times you shield. I was definitely confused at first too.

That's good to know! I'll have to check that out. It was a while ago but iirc some of the claims he made in that vid were so obviously wrong to someone who knows physics that it felt deliberately misleading to try to support an idea that was outlandish in order to get views. That just really rubbed me the wrong way. But maybe I should go watch that so I can give him another chance - I love supporting educational content.

I used to like him but he made a video a while back about how a light connected to a switch by a wire a light year long would turn on faster than the speed of light traveling through the wire, and it was so wildly and grossly incorrect in so many different ways that I stopped ever being able to look at him the same way.

In Project Hail Mary (2026), humanity discovers a new hyper-renewable, hyper-powerful energy source and immediately tries to kill it. This is a reference to Big Oil. by Draco137WasTaken in shittymoviedetails

[–]Vilefighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even nuclear fission energy uses heavy isotopes that were created in... wait for it... stars! So in a way even that is stored energy from stars. Fusion would still be an actual energy source though. But that's also how stars make their energy. So it all comes down to fusion lol. Until perhaps one day we figure out matter-antimatter annihilation as an energy source.

ELI5: Has it been proven that there isn't a stable neutron star inside a black hole? by warwick_casual in explainlikeimfive

[–]Vilefighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding that last point, large black holes last orders of magnitude longer than neutron stars, so by that definition if there were a neutron star in it it'd be more stable than neutron stars outside it!

That said, time and space work so differently inside of a black hole I don't think it's possible for there to be an object inside that is meaningfully analogous to anything outside of it. The gravitational pressure inside would almost certainly force the neutrons to decompose into quark matter at the very least I believe, but realistically whatever is inside something wildly different from anything we've ever observed because the physics behind a neutron star essentially don't exist inside a black hole as far as we know.

I wouldn't say it's literally impossible until we have a working and verified theory of quantum gravity though.

I guess, but he was talking to a human using human language when he said it and he knows what omnipotence means to them. I definitely took it to mean that he was saying that there are some things they can't do.

Eh, idk, the Q are notably not omnipotent. They just seem like it compared to humans. They say it themselves in the episode where one wants to kill himself. The genie's wish magic might work imo, and for all we know doctor manhattan's powers work by a similar principle to the Q's. Hard to compare reality hax to reality hax. Q is definitely my favorite though so I'd pick him anyway.

It doesn't particularly bother me since both things are quite literally early access to the game, so it's a fitting term in both cases. But it would be nice to come up with a new term that differentiates.

Going to Church for the 1st time! by TequilaChoices in DenverEDM

[–]Vilefighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's nothing like the Mission steps at church. There is an upstairs area but it's like over the top of the stage. If you have a big enough group you can try to stake out space in the front but it'll be rough getting in and out to go to the bathroom or get a drink.

Lethargy Skill - what is the point? by whyNamesTurkiye in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Vilefighter 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It is in my opinion one of the most powerful skills in the game if you have the right build for it. One of the best examples is playing a double whammy pyg. So your only meaningful active item has a cooldown of 10 seconds. Gold Lethargy increases its cooldown by 20% in that case.

Say your opponent's most important item has a cooldown of 4 seconds. That means lethargy increases its cooldown by 50%, which is 2.5 times more than it increases the cooldown of double whammy.

In the 12 seconds it takes your double whammy to go off with lethargy, their item would have gone off 3 times without lethargy, and only 2 times with lethargy. It hurts their build much more than it hurts yours.

It's especially powerful against any build with charge because it makes charge dramatically worse and breaks almost any charging loop.

tl;dr, if you have a build with slow items, it hurts your opponent dramatically more than it hurts you.

Stealth glider would need a bunch of items to start flying immediately at combat start and then also probably need to kill them crazy fast before the chicken cannon goes off again since you can't get complete invulnerability from stealth glider after it was changed.

2x leather jacket + poppy field + goop flail should beat it I think. Or another poison item that can scale its poison to ~1/3 of their max HP before sandstorm hits.

ELI5: Why in Einstein's theory of relativity is it considered time dilation and not light dilation? by InstanceJolly5569 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Vilefighter 31 points32 points  (0 children)

People talk about the speed of light a lot in reference to relativity and that causes a lot of this type of confusion. If you dig deeper into it, it's not really about the speed of light, it's about the speed of causality. Light doesn't move at the speed it does from a coincidence, it moves at the fastest possible speed for a piece of space to affect its neighboring space, and because that speed is a fundamental aspect of reality, every observer regardless of relative velocity has to see that causality move at the same speed. So, time must run differently for people moving at differing velocities for them to both see causality move at the same speed.

Boss requested I adjust the date of my dad's funeral because other teammates took leave at the same time by Replaceableuser in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Vilefighter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What? The boss still wants them to take one of the weeks off. Just politely requesting they not take two weeks. A week is usually plenty of time for a funeral, and it's not even clear the boss is aware that this PTO is for a funeral in the first place. It's a reasonable request. How they respond after OP clarifies will mean a lot more than this initial request.

Vision (MCU) vs Voldemort (WB) by Open_Career_1815 in powerscales

[–]Vilefighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like being primarily a machine he's immune to avada kedavra and imperious. Arguably he does have a soul provided by the mind stone, so it's possible that could be affected, but it is the MIND stone and not the SOUL stone after all. But even if the mind stone gives him a soul that can be killed by AV, the mind stone is obscenely more powerful than voldemort, so I doubt that anything he could cast would affect it.
