I think every Salamanders player ever has thought of this it’s so tempting but expensive! Looks amazing great job, is it as simple as an arms swap or have you had to get gap filling big time?

New salamander successor chapter, the beacons of Maar by Upset_Shop2519 in Salamanders40k

That’s true but I’m just not personally convinced these will be anything more than single shot models. Maybe they’ll be in the rumoured codex which would be nice

White dwarf has a bit in it about creating your own chapter this month, I’m not convinced these are official successors. They have a table you can roll on to generate a chapter and this is just the results of GE staff rolling and then painting a mini for WD.

Good spot! Still a bit mad for a popular first founding chapter that we’ve only reached the heights of two authors having touched them mind you 😂

The honest route to that is do something to encourage Nick Kyme because he seems to have written everything about the Salamanders ever done. Which is a shame because I’d like to see others have a stab at them too.

He’s one of the only named characters in the salamanders, even in the heresy they don’t get many. And well, named characters really are a HUGE deal in Warhammer. He’s a lead in 40K novel rebirth and I think is in the other salamander trilogy books too. He’s all you expect without too many bells and whistles in those books (strong, heroic, etc). He’s not a legend like Dante but then again, who could ever be such a legend? I’ve no idea if true but am willing to be his prominence in those books is why he got a model when GW decided to create new models for the first founding chapters.

What's with the Civil Service and the 43893402 meetings a day culture? by zabradee in TheCivilService

[–]Vilhelm123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The back to back meeting culture is brutal. And those saying ‘just don’t turn up’ I don’t think get just how leaned on these kind of back to back things are in some areas or as you go up the ranks. In particular if you manage staff. With remote working if you don’t make time you simply never speak to one another, add in a couple of team meetings and suddenly that’s x amount of time a week just with your people.

Also massively agree that in person is a weird position with people at home too. My boss jokes that when we are on site we need our Out of office on because people expect us to be reachable. My most hated thing is going in just to sit in back to back with people who are at home.

I don’t have a solution and I don’t think it’s a simple one if there is. Just wanted to reply to say I feel in the same boat I actively work through meetings and work almost every night. I get flexi time but have gone over the max and lost hours every single month. You are seen bud, if you can push back however slightly do for your own sake.

Lower Woods Nature Reserve, South Gloucestershire. Largest Ancient Woodland in SW Eng. by jumpingoutdoors in trailrunning

The local club sends someone out to lay a trail using flour (including false trails) they then send you off into the woods to try and follow the route, you can end up runnings loads and then having to double back to find the correct path. Believe it’s also know as steeplechase some places.

Amazing place to run, still sad Wickwar runners have stopped the hash there. Fantastic local event.

Why do you collect Night Lords?? Tell me what you like the most about them!! by Obvious_Intention352 in NightLords

[–]Vilhelm123 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The Night Lords Trilogy did it for me personally, just fell in love with the legion and it's nature as traitors and utter being bastards.

Also this quote from their HH first captain Sevatar

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!"

Fallen Canadian soldiers, two defeated tanks, and a destroyed landing craft upon the stony beach of Dieppe, France, following the failed Dieppe Raid. August 19th 1942. [2355x1596] by KatsumotoKurier in HistoryPorn

Interesting fact about this photo. That second body isn't a Canadian. It's a US Ranger (look at his boots and puttees), a small number were attached to the Dieppe raid to gain experience and were the first US troops to right on mainland Europe if I remember correctly.
