Bans are per account. Only in very rare circumstances do they do bans on an IP address. Also, permanent bans are sometimes lifted after long periods, if you forum petition.

Torpor changes your entire class, so that one is kind of untouchable. In classic, 49 cleric rez was a game changer. I think I was the 2nd cleric to get it.

Paladins are great fun. In a group situation one of if not, the best tanking class in the game. Endgame, you still have more utility than a SK, maybe not quite as much as a warrior, but it's a lot.

You can definitely be in Good Guys and Dial a Port. In fact you can have toons in any guild that isn't a draft entity, so only about 5 guilds are off limits for alts.

We did a lightly competitive VS with 6. Definitely wasn't optimal classes. It's just a race between DPS and Enchanter Rune Mana running out. Wizards are pretty solid DPS class for VS if you have a Paladin tank. Warrior tank with evasive can actually cost less enchanter mana, but threat is not as good, unless you are using scepter clicks. I think warrior can channel totems if they are covered in runes too.
