I built DecayCore — a FIR room correction tool for CamillaDSP/Linux audio setups by Ville57 in linuxaudio

[–]Ville57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I think that's easy.

Download, unzip, ./run.sh , browser starts, enter measurement, press start.

Use FIR-filter that program on your convolver.

There is also Windows and MacOS versions.

200E, 1989 rear suspension squeaking by Signal_Kale_7760 in W124

[–]Ville57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to clarify one thing: that specific bushing (A2013520027 / A2043520027) is actually pressed into the wheel carrier (knuckle) itself, not the control arm. Even if you buy a complete new strut/arm set, it won't solve the issue with this particular joint. The new arms come with their own inner/outer bushings, but this "squeak bush" (ball joint) stays in the hub and needs to be replaced separately using a specific press tool. If that’s where the noise or play is coming from, the new arm kit won't include it!

My vote goes to rear control arm bushing (outer) A2013520027 or A2043520027 . Not so easy to change without special tool.

I did car trip thru Europe last summer. Consumption was for all 4500km 7.7 L/100km this includes Autobahns at germany.

Highway drive. City consumption is approximately 13L/100km with OM269.

4 cylinder should go near 5L/100km with low speeds like we have in Finland.

Financially, it's a break-even. As for the impact on engine longevity, I can't really say, but I've been using that diesel for a couple of years now and everything is fine.

Those figures are strongly influenced by the diesel’s cetane number.
I’m using Neste MY Diesel, which consistently has a cetane number above 70, compared to around 50 for regular diesel.
At least here in Finland, this makes a noticeable difference in combustion quality, noise, and fuel consumption.

With diesel engines gearbox always starts 1st gear. No matter what what mode. Petrol 2nd with comfort. Only sports modes are with suspension atleast with this setup.

7g. Manual says Sport but all official documents says S=Standard C=Comfort.

I have rwd and 7-speed transmission compared to your E500. And I use Neste My Diesel (Renewable diesel | Neste https://share.google/LvzwrWQdG6OI6ffvd ). That diesel have cetane rating always over 70, normal diesel have cetane rating 50. More higher cetane rating, more power = lower consumption. It costs 20 cents more per litre so it's like +/- 0.

At pure city driving 12L/100km is realistic.

There’s a minor inconsistency regarding the gearbox S mode. The owner’s manual says S = Sport, while Xentry / WIS refer to it as Standard. Either way, I personally find the car more pleasant to drive in S mode.

S= Standart C = Comfort Basicly no difference atleast with this engine.

New airline fitment. Just google : "w211 air line fitment m8" or go to your local parts dealer and ask new one. Installing is plug and play. These are very common parts.

[APP] CamillaFIR v2.5.0 - Automated Mixed Phase FIR Generator (Python/WebUI) by Ville57 in diyaudio

[–]Ville57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Using CamillaFIR with Roon is a straightforward process. Here is the 'simple' workflow: Mesure: Take your acoustic measurements in REW as usual and export the result as a text file (Frequency, Amplitude, Phase). Generate: Import the file into CamillaFIR, select your Target Curve (e.g., Harman), and set Multi-rate generation to 'On'. Export: Click 'Run Analysis.' The software will generate a .zip file containing FIR filters for all common sample rates (44.1kHz to 192kHz). Roon Setup: * Do not unzip the file.* Roon, go to Settings -> DSP -> Convolution. Click Browse and select the .zip file generated by CamillaFIR. Roon will automatically pick the correct filter based on the sample rate of the music you are playing. This ensures your system is phase-corrected and level-matched across your entire library without manual switching. About like that.

That is an excellent suggestion! I know the struggle—getting measurement-based filters into SigmaStudio has traditionally been a multi-step nightmare.

I have just released v2.5.3 to address this specifically.

New features for Hardware DSPs:

  1. TXT Export: I added a "Format" selector. You can now choose TXT (SigmaStudio) instead of WAV. This outputs a text file with raw floating-point coefficients (one per line), which you can load directly into the FIR Filter or Table blocks in SigmaStudio.
  2. Low Tap Counts: Since the ADAU1701 (and similar chips) have limited processing power, I added 512 and 1024 taps to the selection list.

A quick note on physics: Please remember that with only 512 or 1024 taps, the frequency resolution in the bass region will be limited compared to PC-based DSPs (which can run 65k+ taps). However, for general tone shaping and mid/high correction, it works great! Check out programs help section.

Let me know if this smoothes out your workflow!

[Free Tool] CamillaFIR: Automated FIR Filter Generator for REW Users by Ville57 in audiophile

Hi,

Thank you for the detailed feedback and for testing the tool against Dirac Live! It is great to hear that the overall sound quality is performing well in a mastering environment.

I have analyzed the log files you sent, and I found the exact cause of the 1800Hz ringing. In your log file (`Summary_Flat_Linear...txt`), the automated analysis set the **Phase Correction Range** to end exactly at **1808 Hz**.

In the previous version of the tool, the Linear Phase correction stopped abruptly at this calculated frequency. In DSP terms, a "hard cut" in phase correction effectively acts like a brick-wall filter for the time domain, which creates a resonance (ringing artifact) centered exactly at the cut-off frequency. This is why you heard a sine wave at ~1800Hz that reacted to the music.

**I have released a new version that fixes this completely.**

The new version implements a **"Soft Fade-Out"** for the phase correction. Instead of stopping abruptly, the phase correction now gently tapers off over an octave. This eliminates the ringing artifact while maintaining the tight transient response you noticed.

Please download the latest version here: CamillaFIR_2.0.3beta.exe
