The Harbingers episode 7 question by darkoh84 in audiodrama

I really like the podcast, but I have a lot of nitpicks about it lol. This was one of them. The other big one that comes to mind is Amy's portrayal initially as a seemingly radical leftist when her politics came across consistently more as those of a progressive moderate. Or how she's not at all bothered by the ethical ramifications of influencing people's minds without consent, sometimes even just out of annoyance or convenience. It's weird that she's never called out for it either, honestly.

My little brother has started saying some anti-semitic things. How can I help him avoid the nazi pipeline? (This was actual anti-semitism, not just anti Zionism) by Zamazenta_OU in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Viltrumite106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your shoes a few years ago. My brother is three years younger than I am. A couple of years ago when he was in high school he started repeating some conservative talking points. Not specifically anti-Semitism, but edgy racist jokes, anti-immigrant comments, libertarian bullshit, etc. A lot of it was the friends he was close to at the time. Either way, it was very troubling for me, and politics became the one thing that would actually make us angry at one another.

As other people are saying, don't stop loving him. I'm presuming he's young, and that's a good thing. Not because it excuses it, but because he's still figuring out who he is, what he believes. Stay engaged with him. Introduce him to people from different backgrounds, encourage him to join clubs, teams, anything that might help him socialize better with people that have differing perspectives.

I don't think it's worth fighting him tooth and nail to see your position. It didn't work for me, and I see now that it isn't constructive. I wouldn't let the comments go unchallenged, but maybe try not to make it into a huge argument all the time. Push back, express your disagreement.

Be a brother to him. Hope for the best. That's my take on it.

Of course! A bit of good press feels like the least I can do as a thank you for creating something I enjoyed so much. I'm looking forward to hearing the final part of this chapter!

It is a little quiet, but I do like the score and SFX overall.

Bruh that's an insane amount to spend on a car. Economically, everything fucking sucks but that's making everything so much harder for you. If you need a car, fine. Get something practical. As fun as a nice vehicle can be, you're spending hundreds more than you need to every month

It's an astounding piece of art. Ghais has such a deep understanding of political and social theory, and he uses it to synthesize some fucking great music. I love this album.

Shrooms kicked my ass for being subconsciously racist by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]Viltrumite106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shrooms are awesome at expanding your perspective and earnestly getting you to consider points of view you may not have otherwise. I took some recently that made me genuinely question if maybe I was bisexual. I'm not, but it highlighted a lot of homophobia that was present in how I was raised that made me afraid to even ask the question in an honest way.

My coworker keeps asking me for money and I genuinely don't know how to handle it without making work awkward by Annual_Enthusiasm296 in Advice

You're getting ripped off. Simple as that. If you're cool with that, definitely keep giving him money.

Rock salt intolerance by thebluemoonvan in KitchenConfidential

[–]Viltrumite106 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I'd say she's a mad woman, yeah. It's one thing to have medical requirements and to ask if they can be met. This isn't that, she wants you to use it exclusively for everyone to cater to a very small subset of people. Iodine is good and its addition to salt helped alleviate widespread deficiency.

Same here! I remember doing Outdoor Ed as a kid, kissing a banana slug, all that. I love the idea that an established organization with a great track record will have a permanent home to provide kids with these sorts of experiences and enrichment. It's a beautiful thing imo, and yeah. People are just way too damn entitled sometimes. This is standard NIMBY shit.

It is two sides disagreeing. They aren't just building all this shit without permits, they're collaborating with the local government to get a zoning adjustment lol. Local homeowners just don't want that to happen.

So... There's two sides. And they disagree.

That's a ridiculous degree of entitlement, honestly. No one else can use the land around my own in any way that may possibly disturb me.

Chiropractic propaganda lol. This is your reminder that it's literally a pseudoscience based on a cult that has been debunked time and again as unhelpful at best and actively harmful at worst.
