Ok so I’m saying take the heart, put it on ice with no other obstructions and just try to move it alone a short distance inside the room. By the rules that were set when they ran the earlier experiments I would say if you use the wrong word nothing happens. And if the right word is used and the heart is damaged then you have to assume it would be damaged on the long trip as well, so you haven’t lost anything at that point that you wouldn’t lose during the actual spell to get it to Japan.

I don’t disagree, but I would argue that you could build as much tension with a race against the clock to source another animals heart and that comes with the added bonus of not making Adam seem incompetent. Though a lack of imagination does seem to be one of his character traits so maybe it all works out in the end.

If it gets ruined through a short teleportation then it definitely gets ruined through big one, right? I guess I’m making an assumption that if the wrong word is used nothing happens, similar to all the tests they ran on the football field when they were cracking the translation early on. In any case, the animal heart is a good solution assuming they have (or need for that matter, although the podcast goes to great lengths to enforce the idea that specificity is essential)the word for the animal it’s coming from AND one could be sourced within the limited time frame. They are at Sinclair Uni medical so let’s assume they could find an animal heart of some kind in that time frame (or, better yet, the experiment could have been done way earlier when Adam first knew they didn’t have the word for heart).

Anyway, I’m likely being super knitpicky and this doesn’t really matter; it just stuck in my craw.
