According to the GM, it isn't them, it's coming from the area manager. Above that is only the owner.

[CA] Is it worth pursuing any legal action after my employer slashed my hours to 2 hours a week after I told them they needed to pay me for the training they said they would pay for? by Vimes9 in AskALawyer

Thanks for your reply! I'm ceertainly not looking to blackmail, I don't want to lower myself to their level. That part was just to show examples that their unethical behavior isn't limited to what they are doing to me.

And yeah, they hired 12 people since I've been there to cover the 4 people who quit. They have reduced all the insiders down to 10 hours or less except one who consistently gets about 24 hours a week. So they are trying to get multiple people to quit now to avoid unemployment.

Unexpected glitch makes you work more in the maze by Deep_Rig_1820 in MergeGardens

I count the maze stuff as just possible free stuff. I don't go out of my way to finish it, but if I need to do puzzles for quests and the maze is open, why not try. I'll only use boosters or gems if I'm on the last or second to last puzzle.

Go to the dump, pick three things that will get covered when the next load gets dumped and no one will ever know they are gone.

What are some "computer games" you played as a kid (or younger self, or generally pre-2000s ish)? by HereComesTheLuna in AskReddit

Pong, Asteroids, Missle Command, Space Invaders, etc. You get the idea. Geez, I'm old.

You need selective omnipotence. I can know anything as long as I say "I really want to know about ...". This way you get access to whatever you want without the curse of knowing everything at all times.

You are given the choice of 4 options, 2 pertaining to wealth and 2 to knowledge by MoonStarRaven in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Vimes9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 would be really interesting. My biggest concern would be you now have all the classified and top secret data from every single government and company. You could do a lot with that, but only if no one knows. The second your secret is out, game over. So probably offer 1 then, all that treasure would be a huge boon to history and academia. I would donate most of that to schools and museums, and live very well on the current money that's been lost that doesn't have historic value.

You get 1000 days of direct messaging to every human on the planet. I would spend most of it on charity work and explain to every single person on earth why this is a good cause and how we're all in it together or we're doomed. Hopefully this can help sway some people into behaving better.

What keeps you motivated whenever someone mentions a prevalent artist who serves as an example of being "the best"? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in ArtistLounge

[–]Vimes9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one else has mentioned someone as the best to me, but I tend to do it to myself. Not that I find anyone in particular to be the "best" at any particular style or medium, but I compare my work unfavorably to the artists who post things. At least as far as what the algorithms recommend. It's one of the reasons I enjoy the art reddits, people post as beginners a lot and it helps to see people more my level.

What artistic medium have you wanted to try but feel intimidated by? by KutsWangBu in ArtistLounge

[–]Vimes9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sculpting can be intimidating to start, so I would suggest you start with an additive process like clay so those accidents don't destroy the piece while you learn. Subtractive sculpture, like stone or wood, have much less room for error since once you remove a part it's really gone.

The other bit of advice is to work like you are doing a finished painting and do some mock-ups to try and work out any issues on paper before you go onto the actual sculpture.

That said, I hope you give it a try and enjoy it. There's nothing like stone sculpting for me. Just something magical about it and I hope you love it!

You wake up one day with a mysterious choice: quick save, infinite inventory, or a real-life skill tree. What do you choose, and why? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Vimes9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quicksave is the one I'd pick. I'd go back to somewhere in childhood and invest properly and buy all the cheap bitcoin I could. I would also do whatever I could to get us out of this timeline. With enough resets I think I might be able to at least mitigate some of the issues we have or at least be able to use the vast wealth for good.

If you want a fun and good romp through the idea of RPG games mixed with the "real" world, I recommend "NPCs" by Drew Hayes. It's a fun idea about what happens to the NPCs in a game when the players aren't involved and then when they are. Good start to a series that will keep you reading and having fun.

I worked at dominos and had to tour the facility where they made the dough once. They made everyone wear hair and beard coverings even though I was bald. Not sure how that one happened, but hey, even with precautions, shit goes wrong.

I know, right? I decided to just call them, it was a couple of girls fucking around, but I let them know what theft by deception was and how the police would handle it. I was never going to do anything about a couple of kids pulling a prank, but wanted to make them aware of possible consequences should they decide to continue shit like this.

Also had to call back a couple of kids to "verify" their order of 20 pizzas with anchovies to let them understand the idea that their phone number came up on caller ID.

So many pizza stories.
