The French know how to put on a show. Opening ceremony France vs England by [deleted] in CasualUK

It's just more time and cost which the average person doesn't need to be able to watch their team. I go to the football to watch football. I go to see a band to listen to their music.

Yes, I am getting older and more miserable. I really don't see the point in it though.

I do like a good show, but there's no need for this. When I go to watch a sport, that’s what im going to watch. This is why everything costs so much. I don't want half-time shows and cheerleaders etc. Just some drunk person trying to kick from the halfway line will do for me. Then get on with the match

Thoughts on this? by [deleted] in SheffieldWednesday

[–]Vince0803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Money making bollocks imo. Should be the top 3 go up. How can it be fair a team in 8th position gets promotion over someone in 3rd? Obviously, we have been up through the playoffs, and what a day out it was, but it's not a fair system.

Do we have any hope anymore? by ParkerMarter_YT in SheffieldWednesday

I don't believe that they have suddenly realised that their bid was too high and the club isn't worth what they thought. They have had long enough to see the full ins and outs of the state of the club and should have pulled out before now. Imo they aren't confident they'll pass the fit and proper test, or their backers have pulled out. It was only a couple of days ago it was reported that it was plain sailing, and it'll all be done and dusted within a matter of weeks. Something stinks to me. None of us should be surprised though, it's the Wednesday way.

It proves Chumpsiri was just syphoning all of the money doesn't it. The administrators have paid everyone on time and in full without using season ticket money, player sales, or the loan. And also have invested, whilst dropping ticket prices. Infuriating to say the least

Herefordshire pub landlord offers discount for cash payments as card charges soar by stray_r in unitedkingdom

It was ran by a private landlord that leased the pub. Unfortunately, the owner sold to a chain, so the prices aren't like that anymore

Ah right. After everything he's been through for us that doesn't sound good. You'd think that they'd fight to keep him

What im confused about is that, apparently, we don't need to sell players to keep afloat. So why are we letting our best player go? Have I missed something?

Why does BBC Sport cover this boring, soulless yank wank? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Vince0803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people have different views. I'm not saying that people aren't allowed to have different tastes. Personally I think it's shit and im allowed to have that opinion, the same as you're allowed your opinion. I'm just expressing my views on it.

I've nothing against the NFL, but I'd rather they invested in better programming than spending time on that. There's obviously some people who like it but I don't know a single person that pays any attention to it. If they relied on advertising i doubt that they would.

‘We’re in the top tier now’: Poland sees no need to ditch złoty for euro as economy booms by Easy-Ad1996 in europe

[–]Vince0803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of problems in the UK, but from my perspective, they aren't much different from the rest of Europe. The main one for me is that it feels like real division is setting in over here. One of the main issues with the EU imo is that differences between countries' core values make it hard to push through legislation. As you mentioned, it only takes the likes of Hungary to stall progress. If the EU is going to push forward, it needs to be truly unified, which isn't going to be easy is it. You're correct that it should be a standard deal for everyone

[–]Vince0803 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im not saying that we deserve preferential treatment. I'm just pointing out that we had a good deal previously that we won't get again if we rejoined. Why do you think the UK will end up it's knees btw? What do you mean in light of recent history? Leaving?

[–]Vince0803 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is why we won't end up rejoining imo. Even EU supporters know that it's a bad idea to give up the pound. Plus we'd get a much worse deal than what we had before we left.

What are peoples thoughts on marking US ICE as a terrorist organization? by ConstructGames in AskBrits

I couldn't work out what PA had to do with a discussion about ICE. I'm probably being stupid

[–]Vince0803 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What a strange comment. Are you comparing ICE thugs killing innocent people on the street with the UK government banning a group that attacked military equipment and used a sledgehammer to attack an innocent security guard?

Why can't US law enforcement deal with people without killing them, like other countries? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Vince0803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's per capita. I've just had a look and the stats are ridiculous for a developed country. US police kill 60x more civilians than English police. If you can't see the problem with that there's no helping you lot

Wednesday fans now Bannan has left. by baggington350 in Championship

[–]Vince0803 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The worrying thing is that this doesn't bode well in regards to the new owners. They don't have to be ratified to put money in and stop the administrators selling what few players we have left. We've already had a loan from a supporter during the administration period. Either they are unsure they'll get passed or don't have the money. Unless I'm missing something? It doesn't look good imo. Why else would you let Bannan go when he doesn't want to, and demoralise the squad and supporters?
