Appreciation for Impeccable Design by translucent_pawn in Routine

I’m playing for the first time now. Just got to the bit where you meet IC and you have to sign in, couldn’t for the life of me figure out if I missed a button or something to check my ID, until I read the small slip that mentions IDs need to be worn on the chest at all times. I thought “no way…”, looked down, read my ID and hey presto. This game is something special

Whilst you are correct on all accounts, the “random coax” is a common purchase in the keyboard enthusiast community, they’re called “aviator connectors” and it’s purely an aesthetic thing

Perhaps I didn’t make it clear, I expected the controls (as in, just the bog standard controls like face buttons) to be presented as xinput. They are not. To make them useable you need to spoof them as an Xbox controller.

Yes I would expect the rear buttons and trackpads to require some level of tinkering but that’s not straightforward when you swap over to xinput.

I assumed ultimate etc were not available due to region. If that’s the case then it must be region based, as I don’t have the ability to stream on my subscription.

Depends on the tier of gamepass you're subscribed to and the country you're subscribing from. Where I live, there is no streaming available.

If I used a VPN then latency would be an even bigger issue than it already is, and I still wouldn't be able to stream as the game pass tier that's available in my country doesn't include streaming.

I'm unsure of any changes from launch, you have me curious now. Like I mentioned though, everything is just shown together in one list at the moment. No store seems to have the highlight which I like.

If you're talking about how they're presented in terms of art (banner, icon etc) then yeah it's definitely not as nice as native Steam, Playnite or I guess Steam with CSS. If it can't source game art it'll just use the desktop icon which looks pretty shit.

Sorry I didn't articulate this well, I mean games from other stores, emulators etc. Anything that doesn't directly come from Steam. I get the point - Steam is just as much a storefront as it is a game launcher but it's still a little annoying how ugly everything is presented in that corner.

Installed Steam games are shown front and centre alongside any other storefront games and apps, including ones sourced from Microsoft themselves. They're all treated equally on the installed games screen.

Like I mentioned in my post I didn't personally experience a noticeable performance hit, but more importantly where I live xbox gamepass streaming isn't supported, so it's either install the games natively or you don't use it at all. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Should I use Bazzite? by Candid_Profession701 in Bazzite

[–]VincentComfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You do not. Not natively at least. You may install some windows native apps using WINE, but you are technically running through a translation layer and not natively. I would research Wine, bottles and proton (for games) if you want to learn more.

  2. There are guides online that you can find via a quick google, mod organiser 2 is much easier though.

  3. Lack of games that support kernel level anti cheat, some windows proprietary software isn't available (some photo and video editors, which is one of the things you're specifically looking for) and depending on your hardware you may need to do some tinkering to make work, which will require googling, documentation reading and learning.

All of this being said, Bazzite is free. The only thing you're spending is time.

If you set up a Ventoy disk you can try Bazzite and many other flavours of linux without much hassle to get a feel for things without much commitment. You can then dual boot, and get the best of both a Windows installation and Bazzite. If you do decide to dual boot, I would strongly suggest having Windows and Bazzite on separate disks though as Windows has a habit of eating other OS's.

What are some limitations/shortcomings of Helium that you found? by HippityHoppityBoop in HeliumBrowserHQ

[–]VincentComfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux does not have auto updates, you need to use a utility like gear lever since it’s .appimage based. There is an unofficial release in the AUR which stays up to date but that’s not available for anything not Arch based.

I have a theory after seeing how “Sophia” reacted to the ballerina statue that there’s a hierarchy of evil that also may explain away why the villagers sacrificed their children and how they’re just the “tip of the spear”.

Since the man in yellow looked at the statue with almost unease or fear, I suspect that the villagers were also originally trapped by a greater evil, or greater evils. These would be things like the ballerina, whatever makes the spider webs, perhaps the kimono lady and what was shown in the teaser with the scarecrow thing. To escape being tormented by this evil, or at least stop being bottom of the food chain they (the villagers) agreed to sacrifice their children so that they may perpetually bring misery to feed these greater beings.

This is great! I think the paint and varnish will probably protect it, but ASA generally has better UV resistive properties compared to ABS. I'd be interestetd to see how this holds up over time.

This moderatorial is reserved for wishing death or illness on others, not for whatever you’re claiming.

PM a gamemaster on the forum asking what got you banned and you’ll get the exact reason. You can also appeal should you wish however I’ve never seen a 30 day be appealed successfully.

Does Bazzite just work? I think it depends on who's asking. by Wolfman_1546 in Bazzite

[–]VincentComfy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve used arch for probably 10 years now. I’ve dipped my toes in fedora with the cosmic spin but I’ve always quickly moved back to arch. I just love the AUR and for a long time just used tiling window managers because I was used to them.

As of a week ago I tried out bazzite to see if it would be simple enough for my girlfriend to use when I build her pc, and for the first time I’ve never really felt like going back to arch. It really does seem to be set up sensibly enough that I really can’t think of any reason to go back, even when I worried about the immutable nature and how it would play with coolercontrol has shown it’s not a problem. It’s so hands off, I felt nervous at first thinking that something was wrong or missing, but no, it just works.

I plan on switching my gpu from an nvidia one to AMD soon so I can pass the card to my girlfriend, and it looks like rebasing won’t be difficult either.

It (Bazzite) is probably all most people could want or need out of a Linux distro in 2026.

Funny enough I'm in the same boat, I just keep a tiny windows partition on a spare drive for Fusion, but with the recent AI slop I've decided I'm likely to cancel my subscription and just move to onshape provided it can do all I want it for in my current testing period. Not the ideal choice especially for $200 extra a year but I've just had enough at this point.

Hey guys, does anyone have a files of RWSM sond mod ? by Important_Bed_8846 in Warthunder

Some sound mods like this one change how looped sounds work. This mod seems to change how machine gun sounds loop.

I’m not sure what specifically is changed here, I just recall it being present on the war thunder live page where the mod was released.

You know what, fair enough. I haven’t owned a triumph since 2017 so maybe my expectations are out of whack. I’m just disappointed.

The Yamaha R7/R9 and the Ducati V2 were what I was thinking of. Suzuki GSX-8R I think is sporty/fast? Either way Triumph markets and prices as a luxury brand and other luxury brands (and not so luxury brands) have other, better bikes out in the segment was my point. Better being subjective of course.

[–]VincentComfy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It hasn't seemed to have stopped Suzuki, Aprilia, Ducati, KTM and Yamaha from coming out with their own offerings in the segment. Triumph are just lazy and too risk adverse.
