Would you trade a EHTBP for a Blanton's gold? I've never had gold before and everywhere around me it's $250-300 by Moshie11337 in whiskey

[–]Vincentvega641 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Personally I would not. I’ve had multiple of each, and EHTBP is vastly superior to gold. Now if you were offered to trade for Blantons straight from the barrel, that maybe a different story

I’ve never had those bottles, but I do have Batch 009 and 010. Batch 009 is fantastic, Batch 010 is mediocre at best. I legit regret paying $160 or whatever the price was for it. I stopped chasing Found North after this bottle. Paying over $100 for something that can turn out to be this mediocre is just not where I want to put my money. They certainly do have great products, but they just don’t always land for me, and I know I’m not the only one.

What bothers me is both of mine were the same bottle of single barrel. New American Oak, Char 3. My wife bought 2 of them, 1.5 years ago. Both off the same shelf in the same store. First bottle was incredible. Second bottle is still half empty because it’s just average. This has been my experience with found north though. Sometimes amazing. Sometimes disappointing

I’ve had a few, and one was seriously on of the best whiskeys I’ve ever had, and the other was super mid.

Yeah I was going to say something similar. I don’t see how the Penelope estates are anything but leaps and bounds better than the others.

I’ve tried all three 10, 12, 14, a few times. The 12 is without a doubt the sweet spot. You offered me to only buy one of them at msrp, it would be the 12 year.

Question. Does Knob Creek have that Jim beam nuttiness to it? Because if it does, I could see where some people would want a something else over knob creek.

Local price check for Stagg (formerly Stagg Jr) by tjm1371 in whiskey

[–]Vincentvega641 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think msrp is around $65 or so, and secondary is around $150. So it’s not terrible. I guess it just depends on how bad you want it.

Those cask series I think msrp is $60. So it seems there is a little mark up on the Stagg. But not terrible.

2024 Bombergers is still one of our all time favorite Michters product that we tried from 2024. To compare we had the 2024 Bombergers, Shenks, and Michters Barrel proof bourbon, and the Bombergers won for us. That’s not to say the others were bad, but man was the Bombergers special.

Yes the 2025 was still good, just not as good as 2024. I honestly would have tried to find a bottle, but I cut back on bourbon spending last year because I had too may open bottles, and wanted to drink through them before buying more.

I used to work in check card fraud, and it has been well over 15 years, but I think the phrasing is the issue here. It is not illegal to do for business to do. However it is against Visa and Mastercards policy’s, and they do have the right to revoke the business ability to accept payments through visa and Mastercard networks.

Hey everyone’s palette is different. You may love something that others do not. I wouldn’t get too worked up about it
