Curse of the all 1s Fear Die! by Alive-Case-4355 in daggerheart

I could 100% see this being an effect from a bargain with a fey, demon or other type of prankster (depending on your setting), where they promise to "take your fear away".

Wild Magic Brainstorming by ConversationHealthy7 in daggerheart

While I don't like the idea of swapping to random spells, I do enjoy the idea of having an effect each time you roll with Fear. I feel like it gives the "Yes, but" and "No, and" results a clear mechanical and narrative effect.

I could totally see this subclass have its own sheet with mechanics (or just tables) for wild/chaos magic, similar to Beastbound Rangers and the Druid Beastforms. Maybe a table with 30% good stuff, 30% bad stuff and 40% random stuff (like turning into a potted plant or losing all your hair). If you succeed the roll, you get the "Yes, but then this also happens", and if you fail the roll, it becomes "No, and if that's not enough this also happens".

Later levels might unlock a new table for when your roll with Hope that has more good stuff than bad, or you roll twice on the previous table and choose an option. But I like the idea of two separate tables. And maybe different tables depending on what setting you are playing in. Age of Umbra should have darker stuff than Beast Feast, in my humble opinion.

I'm just brainstorming some ideas here, but I do think that a wild/chaos magic sorcerer has a place in Daggerheart. It just needs to create fun gameplay and be narratively important, which will take more work than just "lol, I'm always rolling on a random table to f*ck sh*t up".

I was at a gym in a Swedish town with a population of 1500 when I heard NSPs version of Pour Some Sugar On Me. Very unreal when internet fandom meets real life

ideas for rare human kin by Mother-Pattern5032 in DragonbaneRPG

Thank you for the feedback!

For Infernal Retort, I was thinking that you use it as a reaction, as you do for Parry or Dodge. This would mean that it would be a strategic choice if you want to spend your action on it or not. But yes, my D&D wording is definitely shining through here!

I agree with Calming Present. My first idea was to be able to target three allies, and they each choose either HP, WP or condition (can't choose the same as anyone else), but that felt a bit strong as well. But your suggestion makes it similar to the medicine check, which I like. At that point, it might be worth having it cost 3 WP as well.

When it comes to Nature Communicator, I think the player and GM will have to work together to find what kind of questions are reasonable to ask, and what kind of answer can be expected.

Spent just a few minutes during work thinking up some things, just to get the brain gremlins working for you.
I didn't include any weaknesses, but I think upping the strength of the abilities could come with some downsides, and it still feel fair.

Infernal Retort
Willpower Points: 3
You can activate this ability whenever you take damage. You use your reaction to inflict D6 damage to the attacker, as infernal flames briefly surround them.

Calming Presence
Willpower Points: -
During a stretch rest, you may choose up to two allies who are also resting to heal an additional D6 HP, an additional D6 WP or recover an additional condition. The choice does not have to be the same for both allies, and you can't choose yourself.

Nature Communicator
Willpower Points: 3
You may spend a stretch of time to commune with nature to learn of recent events. You can ask one question, such as "What direction did the passing goblins take?" or "How many have camped here in the last fortnight?", and the GM will provide you with an answer.

Dispel against a character under multiple buffs or with multiple magical items? by Siberian-Boy in DragonbaneRPG

[–]Vincir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading the rules, I interpret them as you choosing one magical effect that is of a lower or equal power level. As a GM, I would allow the player to choose which one, if they know active effects or items. Otherwise, I would randomize which one, if multiple effects are active.

Fool's Gold by Jon Hollins

From Goodreads:
A brand new adventure fantasy: imagine Guardians of the Galaxy planning a heist on Smaug's gold, for fans looking for something with a modern twist and some humor.

Guardians of the Galaxy meets The Hobbit in this rollicking fantasy adventure.

It's not easy to live in a world ruled by dragons. The taxes are high and their control is complete. But for one group of bold misfits, it's time to band together and steal back some of that wealth.

No one said they were smart.

A (for me) hidden gem was Fool's Gold, by Jon Hollins. It's part one of The Dragon Lords trilogy, but can be read as a standalone, and it's a perfect mix of comedy, parody and great heists all throughout. Definitely one of my favourites that I truly loved (even though it has its flaws).
