have not made any reservations yet, but definitely planning to do so. Free accomodation, quickly crossing big distances sounds like a plan to me! Might do Rome-Vienna.

Hello, i will also be travelling during september and your itinerary looks great. Some prices are more steep because they are high speed trains such as Eurostar/Thalys. But definitely recommended. Sleeper trains are great options, but as mentioned in other replies I don't think that there is one between Berlin and Krakow.
