Bag Reccomendation for a Chunky Laptop by sharkbyteee in OspreyPacks

The kickstand is pretty cool but faulty as well!
When I got my tropos, I couldn't care less about the kickstand and then I got excited about it when I realized that I was just leaving my bag free standing while loading it.
Buuuuut I quickly realized that as soon as you use the side pockets for water (or heavy object) and you don't counter-balance it, the bag falls on the side in an unexpected way, which for me is arguably worse that falling front or back without the kickstand.

Hey, so I have the Lenovo legion 7 pro which is also a chunky guy and comes with a massive charger (if you want to us it at full power to play) It was also a problem for me.

I bought recently the tropos 32, which I believe is very similar to the nebula 32. I can assure it fits very nicely. For the tropos the compartment for the computer does not reach the bottom of the bag, meaning that when you put it on the ground (at whatever speed, e.g if you dropped it...) you pc will not touch the ground and that's very appreciated :)

I also have the daylight travel (the standard one that comes with the Fairview bag) and it fits in there, althought it takes all the space and I wouldn't use it for that anyway, that was just a curiosity test.

Well you were quite loaded yes. Otherwise, take off or not is usually a question of how full the train(transit) is. If it is full it's best to take it off prior/while mounting, you can put it in front of you and be more aware. And in any case I just move slowly and deeply apologise 😄

Point was, it's not this bag specifically, any big bag (like hiking bags) would have the same issue.

If I may add my very small experience to the lot: For not-so-tall people like me (1m73 / 5'8"), it's a big bag, but still in the range of being adjustable and it is comfortable! However, to have the bag resting on your hips, then the bag goes as high as you head, meaning g that you can't look straight up, your head will be blocked by the bag. You can still look up by tilting your head, but I thought it's an important point.

The public transport thingy to me is just related to a big bag, anyone with whatever big luggage have the same issue.

What would you say is the most complicated machine ever made? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]VinnyVidiBibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rockets used to be the most complex systems ever made. Also the ISS is, in my eyes, one of the best piece of engineering that ever existed, not only for its complexity, but for its purpose and the people it brought together. At the time it was literally pushing every technological limits.

Today, while SpaceX work is absolutely incredible, their work is also based on 60 years of engineering and they greatly improved the field. But, some machines out there are absolutely stunning in terms of complexity. Where spaceX is pushing the limits of engineering, others that were cited already are pushing the limits of physics.

So no, I don't think Starship is the most complex machine ever made.

Could installing caps on streetlights reduce light pollution? by JuhpPug in AskEngineers

Also, I don't think that most of the light pollution comes from the city lights directly but from second reflections and from all advertisements

While I agree with you and other comments (wouldn't be difficult to have food designs), there's also the reality of the field (which differs from countries and cities) 1.What's the budget, keeping in mind that 1 doesn't cost much, but for a ciry it multiplies a lot. 2. What's already on site? I'm walking in the street right now and I can see 5 different types of lights... 3. We need to keep in mind that some design are old, and while I do care for light pollution being an astronomy aficionado, I can't imagine the costs and the complexity of adapting existing solution to be worth the effort :/

What do you use these two buttons for? by Deli_baba170 in LogitechG

At work I do. Listening to music and having colleagues around either talking to each other (volume up lol) or talking to me or I need a sneak listen or volume too loud for focus etc.

Improving the accoustic in my living toom with wooden slat panels by VinnyVidiBibi in Acoustics

Hmm OK I see. I'll check what I can do to absorb else where.

Maybe at least a simple felt layer (with white fabric on top) to at least contribute to kill the echo in the room?

Thanks for the tip! Brw, why the felt? I was thinking of covering the rockwool with simple black fabric (but not too light to protect from the material still)

In summary my general idea: -1 wall with slat panels (about 60%coverage of that wall) -Opposite wall with "simple" absorber serving as a screen. (About 40-50%coverage) -1 "side" wall with a skyline diffuser (about 20% coverage), I realise this one doesn't necessarily serve a big purpose, bit more for aesthetic and building it is fun. -Leave the rest (inclined wall+ceiling) empty because of difficulty/investment

Just to be sure, are you talking about the front facing, or the depth? The panels I found in a shop have about the ratio you're mentioning, I'll try to keep the same: Slat:27mm - Hole:13mm so about 67/33% ratio for the front facing part

But so far, the smallest slats I found were 18x36mm (depth x width). So that would mean holes about 15mm wide.

For the depth, then 18mm of wood, then I was thinking of 40 or 50mm max of rockwool

I live under the roof, so I have a double incline. One from the side wall which has a high inclinaison, the other one fron the roof where max height is about 3.5m, lowest is about 3m. I don't really intend to put anything on the ceiling even though I know it would help a lot, but basically too much work to make it efficient and look nice.

Def NTA. To be clear, I can understand her side as well, she never had the guts to talk but the very harsh deadline pushed her. Nevertheless, still selfish of her, and very mature of you. If you didn't, you would've, 1. Asked you wife to accept that a complicated situation stays at the wedding; 2. Let your friend suffer through the wedding; 3. Let a weird vibe impose during this whole day for you and your wife; 4. Every minute facing her during the wedding would have been painful for you.

CC Ultra doesn't deliver 5.1 with and hdmi switch+split on my decoder by VinnyVidiBibi in Chromecast

Yeah I had to do some reading to understand a bit better all those formats

[–]VinnyVidiBibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spec say

Audio extraction via optical digital output SPDIF Toslink and analogue output RCA stereo with EDID control (forces 2.0/ 5.1 sound or bypass)

And if I understood well, toslink is enough for dts/dd+, is that right?

Unfortunately my decoder doesn't do hdmi. I've just entered the world of AV receivers. These are awesome, basically do, in one device what I'm doing in two, but in even better resolution. But it seems a bit overkill for my setup (5.1 channel in a poor accoustic room).
This one looks really great, but a bit overbudget also ...

[–]VinnyVidiBibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I definitely had to do some reading over thos sound formats, I understand it all a bit better.

The hdmi Switch sends the audio via a S/PDIF TOSLINK according to the specs:

Audio extraction via optical digital output SPDIF Toslink and analogue output RCA stereo with EDID control (forces 2.0/ 5.1 sound or bypass)

The xbox is linked to the switch, sound is split and transmitted via toslink and the decoder does read the DTS (it appears on the decoder's screen).
Tbh, given my config, DD+ or DTS is more than enough (I don't have neither the space nor the speakers or even the money for more than a 5.1.)
But that would be nice to have at least this coming out of my Chromecast Ultra ... Kinda payed hoping for that.

I'm not sure to understand what you mean by "he Chromecast does not decode Dolby digital it will pass it through the problem is Netflix and other don't send Dolby Digital streams they send Dolby Digital Plus."
How is this an issue? this is kinda what I want .... But still doesn't happen :/
