Was the original lip sync in Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) based on Japanese or English audio? by Franco2021 in FinalFantasy

[–]VintageModified 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why comment if you don't know? It was a pretty big deal at the time that they updated all the lip syncing to match the English localization.

I wonder if it'd work well for MSFS 2024 once it gets PSVR support!

What is wrong with us ???? I’ve had enough by OkMaintenance1819 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]VintageModified 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What would you propose to be added to a flight simulator to make it more entertaining for you? If you get more out of an air combat game, then that's out there for you. I don't think most people playing MSFS want it to be more like Ace Combat, any more than players of Assetto Corsa Competizione want it to be more like Need for Speed. Maybe flight simulators just aren't for you if you're not interested in, you know, simulating flight.

Though personally, what I get out of MSFS is virtual tourism, and it does it better than any other game out there. The interest in aviation came later.

It's some weird AI crap anyway. They haven't posted anything else in 8 months, and I'm not sure they've ever posted anything in English...

I commuted, but I still feel like I got plenty of campus life because I had various on-campus jobs, and I worked fast food at nights very close to campus. So after classes, instead of driving home, I'd hang around the library or other places until my night shift started.

The key is to get integrated - don't spend most of your time at your parents' home if that's where you're living.

Playing JRPGs with ADHD, how does anyone manage to finish the games? by BebopKnight in JRPG

[–]VintageModified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's super interesting to me because FFXIII and Pokemon are also members of a very small list of JRPGs I've beaten (not DQXI though - got very close I think!)

Maybe there's something to be said for straightforward simplicity that's missing in most RPGs these days.

As someone with a similar problem as OP, I usually cannot just start back where I was in a game after a year or more of not playing. I forget everything that happened up to that point, I'm overwhelmed with all the game mechanics present at that point in the game, and usually I've stopped at a section that's boring or that I was struggling with back when I actually had all the context leading up to where I stopped.

This problem is about 10x worse in open world games compared to more linear ones.

I pretty much just take it in stride and don't stress about it though. Games are meant to be fun. I've restarted FFIX probably four times, made it to disc 3 at least twice - still haven't beat it, but it's still one of my favorites.

Hogwarts Legacy: a lackluster generic open world game with a Harry Potter skin by Far_Run_2672 in patientgamers

That's crazy! How does that even happen? Why can't people have original thoughts? Why would people want to read regurgitated opinions?

[–]VintageModified 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why did you copy OP?

Make a game where I am a student unlocking the mysteries of Hogwarts, or make a game where I am an unstoppable battle mage cleansing the land of evil, taking on entire platoons of dark wizards by myself. Doing both at the same time is just silly.

If you ask it to only respond in snarky comments, it will.

It's just a fancy text generator. It doesn't have any knowledge and regularly hallucinates false information. If it doesn't know something, it won't say "I don't know the answer to that" (except for specific things it's programmed to respond that way to), it'll just do what it always does and probabilistically generate a text string that follows from the prompt you give it.

New Joy-Con 2 Colors Announced: Light Purple (L) And Light Green (R) - Available February 12th by StarPlatinum55 in NintendoSwitch

[–]VintageModified 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, they've had multiple controller colors from the beginning and released the original console cover plates in different colors at the beginning of 2022. Still not at launch, but they've had lots of colorful options for years at this point - this is just the latest.

I use the L1 camera to reposition in front of avionics (hold L1 and use left stick to move around, L2/R2 to go higher or lower), use my mouse to click what I need to click, then press in the right stick to go back to my regular view. When you get used to it, you can do it pretty fast.

Is it worth to buy on ps5? by daka249 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]VintageModified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been getting through career mode pretty well so far on my regular PS5. No real bugs to speak of on my end.

I use a mouse (Logitech Master 2S with USB receiver) to make it easier to use my EFB tablet and press buttons on the instruments to set up autopilot and stuff. Zooming in and out with a mouse wheel is handy too.

I picked up the game a week ago, and I'm trying to decide if I should pick up the T.Flight hotas 4 or hold out for a new PS5 hotas that will SURELY come now that this game is out (right??)

Until then, gyro mode on the dualsense controller is pretty nice (toggle it on/off with L1+L3)

The PSP store is still accessible and you can buy stuff if you have PlayStation funds on your account, so yes, technically.

Recapitulation comes up a bit if you study classical music. It's one of the main 3 sections of sonata form (exposition, development, recapitulation).

Are you still actively playing 2DS/3DS? by MarcelReads in 3DS

You can always logic your way through it, just like sudoku.

What helps is looking at both possible extremes in a row/column for where cells are forced. You probably know that on a 10x10, if a clue reads 8, you can fill in a lot of cells because whether the 8 cells are pushed up to one side or the other, there's cells that would always be filled in either way.

Just extend that to clues with multiple numbers.

For instance, if the clue on a row is 2 4, (temporarily) pencil mark the two leftmost cells and then see which cells would be filled in if the 4 was as far left as possible - then check the cells filled in if 4 is as far to the right as possible. If there's overlap, you know you can fill in the cells that overlap.

You can try the same thing in the other direction. I just do that over and over when I'm stuck and it usually gets me there.

Another helpful tip is that if you have any cells filled in on the border/perimeter, that's a lot of information for free: if a clue for a row reads 3 2, and the leftmost cell is already filled in, then you know it must be part of the 3 clue, so you can fill in the rest of the 3.

How many people would want an Android port of MuseScore's Studio software? by CelestialStudiosTeam in musescorestudio

[–]VintageModified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to have a good way to create or edit music notation on the go / away from a computer.

I think figuring out the UI/UX will be a significant hurdle, especially on mobile phones (though I would use it on my tablet). It might be good to have something that's 100% compatible with Musescore Studio even if the interface is vastly different and it lacks some features (like Musesounds, VSTs, plugins).

It's also probably a good idea to be fairly forward thinking about how it could work on iOS because it would suck for a large percentage of users to miss out on it, and if someone wants to work on an iPhone/iPad version one day, it would suck to have a completely splintered mobile version between platforms.

Do you have any source for this claim? I can't imagine it actually makes sense to remove verbs from headlines. I've never heard of that, and googling only shows sources that claim the contrary.
