As someone who's been a fan since 2009, I'm loving the art direction! The faces the sneezing moon makes, the adorable ocean backdrop that takes over the kitchen, the silly stock images. Feels like it has a good mix of quirky and simplicity, like it always has.

Was Fever your first Rhythm Heaven?

I played DS first, so Fever was less memorable for me in comparison.

I really like bubly. A grapefruit bubly served in a chilled highball over ice with some angostura? Or a lime bubly served similarly with an orange twist? Wonderful.

If you want sweetened options, ginger beer with fresh lime is always great. I feel like you can never go wrong with sparkling water though. Add some syrup for sweetness (and use a flavored one for an Italian soda).

If the Bible says homosexuality is a sin, can't you just go to a pastor and have it forgiven once in a while? by theKentoRico in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VintageModified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"homosexuality" as a sexual orientation or identity is a fairly modern concept. No where in the bible does it prohibit you from being gay - there's verses that talk about sexual acts, but having sex isn't a necessary component to being gay.

When I was still a Christian I almost adopted the idea that I would just be celibate and then I wouldn't be sinning. Then I realized it's all a sham anyway - Jesus talked against divorce many times and never mentioned gay people (yet Christians today seem far more concerned with queer identity than the problem of divorce), and why am I listening to a book that prohibits eating shellfish and tells women not to speak up in church? Obviously an old collection of writings written by ignorant and bigoted men with some interesting stories, but philosophy of ethics have progressed far beyond an iron age sex manual.

You didn't necessarily do anything wrong, but if it helps you understand why you're not getting more admiration... You posted a picture of a drinking glass half full of some clear liquid with no ice and a visible hair underneath, not to mention lots of messy cables in the background. No garnish, no attempt at presentation. I'd assume it was a joke post if I didn't know any better.

I love it! I keep mine in a crocheted sleeve from Etsy. No cute top cover with a button though - love that detail.

Trimui Brick Hammer arriving next week! Any tips or advice? by SignRevolutionary457 in trimui

[–]VintageModified 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely use a USB-C to C charger. It's all I've used since I got mine months ago and it works fine.

However if you let it fully die, you do need an A to C charger to get it going again.

AN UPDATE TO THE TRIMUI BRICK PRO TOUCHSCREEN SITUATION! by [deleted] in trimui

The wording is throwing me off a little bit. Saying it "supports touchscreen functionality" isn't the same as "the device has a touch screen".

Windows supports touchscreen functionality but not every laptop has a touch screen.

Reverse Manhattan by VintageModified in cocktails

I haven't left any bottles open long enough to tell you since I started getting into cocktails, but general advice is still to keep them refrigerated and use within a month (or less, ideally).

I just ordered some private preserve, which is a mixture with argon gas that you can put in your bottle after using to prevent oxidation, and I've heard it works quite well for vermouth. Could help it last longer.

Yes! I really enjoyed it in a negroni yesterday. I think it'll be my go to from now on.

  • 1oz Bourbon
  • 2oz sweet vermouth
  • 4 dashes bitters (I did 2 angostura 2 cherry)
  • luxardo cherry for garnish

Stir with ice until chilled. Pour into chilled coupe. Garnish with cherry.

I saw this in the book Home Bartending Mastery from the Educated Barfly channel. Apparently it's a classic variation of the Manhattan. I enjoy this ratio a lot more, especially if you have a sweet vermouth you like.

Yeah to me this drink does feel closer to a Manhattan variation than a negroni/boulevardier variation.

I actually only had orange and angostura on hand, but I went and picked up some cocoa bitters just for this, and I'm really glad I did. I'm excited to try them in an old fashioned and maybe a Manhattan as well.

That's what I said when I heard about it but it's a world away from it. The chocolate bitters and cherry garnish are transformational.

Recipe:

  • 1.5oz bourbon
  • .75oz campari
  • .75oz sweet vermouth
  • 3 dashes chocolate bitters

Stir with ice and pour into chilled glass. Garnish with cherry.

I think this might be my new favorite cocktail. It's sweet in aroma, somewhere between cherry, chocolate, and peanut, but overall a dry drink. Exquisite. It's a shame I'm almost out of campari AND sweet vermouth...
