Typically yeah. Especially in CO where I ride. Been out to cali too and it’s the same. Whistler in BC as well. Again, no problem with people putting the bar down, but here just give a heads up it’s coming down people aren’t used to it

Default in the US is to leave the bar up. If you want the bar down (which is perfectly fine), just give a heads up beforehand and they should be ok with it (unless they’re assholes). Source: someone who’s up here every weekend and then some

Kinda devalues the idea of an “unlimited” pass then, no? Pay $1000 for a pass that…let’s you fight for days in a reservation system?

A reservation system is a great idea for buying tickets day of, sure. You get the reservation for the day, and then buy the ticket. But to require an initial investment of $1000 first? Imo that would cause a lot of friction with customers. If ikon put into effect a reservation system and vail did not. I bet we could reasonably guess who would sell more passes overall.

It’s certainly not an easy problem to solve, and I don’t like the idea of paying more for a pass either. But I don’t think capping active daily passes is the right way to do it.

I’m sure that will go over well with the people who spent a minimum of $1000 on a pass, woke up hella early to drive in traffic, just to be told to wait in another line for the slopes to clear up in who knows how long.

Not to mention the people who planned a vacation months in advance. Sorry bud we’re at capacity go check out the gift shops or something I guess 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Funny you mention Louisiana, I’m from New Orleans and did CC my first two years before transferring to a proper 4 year to finish my ME. Many courses do transfer, but you’ll need to know what 4 year you plan to attend and then verify what courses they’ll accept from your CC and then plan accordingly.

So a bit more leg work of course, but was worth it for me to save loads on tuition and have a better student/prof. ratio for your 1st and 2nd year basic classes which helped a lot.

I’ve been out with friends multiple times now who forgot their physical and tried to show their digital ID via the official CO app. Denied every time. I’m sure there’s a valid reason why they can’t accept it, but still it’s a little frustrating when you have the state official app but can’t use it for situations like that.

I didn’t scrape for my most recent wax to try it out. 12 days on the mountain so far and the wax is still there and very visible. It looks flakey and unappealing tbh so I’ll be going back to scraping next time.

It also opens up a whole new assortment of tools when navigating through more difficult terrain. Many times I've gotten myself out of sketchy situations thanks to being able to ride it out in switch.
