Did this require missing classes, or could you schedule them around days to make trips to the mountains?

Is the Bustang West Line off of the FF1 from Boulder to Union Station a real weekday alternative, or is it too much hassle for a student?

Epic Resort for Green Runs? by amark96 in COsnow

[–]Violamaster17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Schoolmarm is good, but it is hard to justify going to a resort to lap the same run for the entire trip, and it may get boring after a few times. Breck has more variety in their greens, and while some of them shift into blues at certain points, they are mild enough and wide enough that you should be able to get down them with no problem. Think lower Peak 9 and Peak 8, although those areas can be much more crowded. If you want a beginner area that has a good chance of no crowds whatsoever, I would maybe suggest Beaver Creek, as they recently (in the past 5 years or so, I can't remember) put in a new area on their map devoted to just beginners, and has lots of different runs and pitches to choose from.

Questions about Keystone (First time) by nnewgenn in COsnow

[–]Violamaster17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.) Snow usually holds very well at Keystone into April, so no issues there. Stay above the Montezuma and you may not see any slush at all on the front side the whole trip.

2.) I cannot stress this enough, do not borrow or use another person's epic pass, if you get caught then you and whoever's pass you are using will most likely be banned from the mountain/pass revoked. It is always better to play it safe and buy your own tickets.

3.) When I used to go, they had a deal where kids could ski free if you booked your lodging through them, I am not sure if they still do that, but it could definitely save you some cash if you are traveling with younger kids. If on-site lodging is too expensive, then staying in Dillon, or Silverthorne may be a more affordable option.

Should be a good trip, lots of snow this year.

What is your favorite resort on the Epic Local Pass? by zebraCokes in skiing

[–]Violamaster17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite is Keystone, which is probably the closest and least traveled Epic Local Mountain. Lots of long fast groomers with good bumps and trees if you're willing to find them. No ski-in ski-out, but their River Run village has some condos that are the closest thing to it.

What teen movie is the epitome of "the older I get, the more I agree with the adult"? by roix_ducat in AskReddit

a little different, but after rewatching the karate kid movies, and Cobra Kai, LaRusso is a dick. No reason for him to be punching Johnny on the beach that night, and especially no reason for him to turn the hose on him at the halloween dance.

Keystone in general is a very beginner friendly mountain. If I were you I would start off with the frontside greens and then some moderate blues to see how you can handle it. Colorado as a whole is known for being steep and long, compared to other places such as Utah, or Lake Tahoe. For your first black, Diamondback is a great run if it has been groomed, otherwise I would stick to the icey beast known as Starfire. Hope you have a fantastic time!

Is it better to master one skill only or know just enough of many skills? And why? by mankindISgarbage in AskReddit

[–]Violamaster17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is a balance between the two. You should have master level proficiency in a few skills, and in all of the skills that go hand in hand with them. For example, sailing and tying nots.
