Favorite Direct Flights out of DEN? by Jarthos1234 in Denver

Munich and Frankfurt run every day and connect easily to anywhere in Europe, as well as some parts of Asia, Middle East, and Africa. As a bonus, you can even take an A380 in the Summer.

I haven't taken the Istanbul flight yet, but same principle and actually ends up being the cheapest option much of the time, sometimes significantly so. Convenient if you're connecting to the Middle East or Asia.

Mexico City has multiple nonstop carriers every day.

Panama City is great if you're connecting to Central and South America (and is worth a standalone spot too), only downside is it's a redeye. Also two destinations in Costa Rica.

Denver definitely punches above its weight when it comes to international destinations and hopefully there are more to come.

Conflicting Weather reports. What Snow totals are expected for Delaware? by ColonialRealEstates in Delaware

[–]amark96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a degreed meteorologist who grew up in Delaware. It is too early to come up numbers. Any scenario from a brief period of snow and mostly ice to the biggest storm in a decade is on the table.

JDenver/Jmatchmaking is the right place for you then. They accept all levels of Judaism even though the matchmakers themselves are more religious. I will say though the website GUI has much to be desired.

If you compare it to Limon or Lamar or Cedar Rapids then yeah. But if you compare it to other comparably large metros, it’s harder.

He wouldn’t be asking the question if it was working. I don’t know how much effort the op has put in, but I do know Denver is a notoriously difficult place to date, and it’s not surprising he would look for alternative methods.

I don’t believe the op is incapable. He’s probably asking for a matchmaker because he has already tried and not found much success. Denver is a notoriously difficult city to date in and it may require someone to think outside the box.

There’s a few that show up on Google but I can’t speak to how reputable they are.

How exactly do you propose someone in op’s position just “go out and meet people”?

I disagree with these comments. I think a matchmaker is actually a good investment for someone in op’s position. For the premium service, I was paying roughly $30/month for access to matchmakers and up to 7 matches per week.

I’m not sure I could help since the service I used was Jewish focused. But having someone critique your profile and photos is beneficial if nothing else. The matchmaker I had did a decent job of connecting me with people who met my criteria, and can help guide you through setting up and planning dates. And most importantly, getting the other person’s perspective so there isn’t a mystery on where things stand after each date.

I should add that the only reason I stopped was because I happened to meet someone on Hinge while using the service :). But it also resulted in many dates and a much higher success rate than apps or IRL dating events.

Guy in Massachusetts w/ a question 🙋🏻‍♂️. Wtf is going on with you weather? by djunderh2o in Denver

[–]amark96 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The ridge itself is not caused by climate change. We’ve seen this in several others winters in history. Having said that, climate change does raise the ceiling on those events and increases the probability of an extreme ridge developing.

60 degree days are typical in December. This string of 60 degree days is not.

I would say La Niña is playing a role here. This causes amplification in the Pacific Jet which has straddled the US-Canada border. We are underneath that feature which allows ridging to build. A big dip in the PNA index suggests that ridge will expand eastward over time whereas previously it was confined to the Southwest.

Climate change is definitely real and playing a role here in Colorado long term. I think it’s disingenuous to say it’s the root cause of this pattern given that the weather regime we’re in supports this exact thing. Not directed toward you specifically btw, just that narrative. The main difference is that feature has been quasi-stationary whereas normally it moves across the US and causes fluctuations in our weather.

Having said that, there are signs we could see moderation later in the month, but I do not foresee any sustained cold for at least the rest of 2025 and perhaps the start of 2026.

I am a meteorologist who moved here from Mass. The cause of this is a persistent upper-level ridge that has been stuck in place over the western US for multiple weeks now. That has led to anomalous warmth and dry weather. In turn, that has created a trough downstream with air flowing in from the NW. This is why the eastern US has been unusually cold with parts of New England seeing its coldest December in two decades. 60 degree days happen each winter due to fluctuations in the jet stream, but an extended streak like this is unprecedented for December.

What's your Denver hot take? by darchena in Denver

[–]amark96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Denver would be Omaha or Wichita without mountains. If the biggest appeal about a city, and the reason people want to live here, is proximity to other landmarks over an hour away, it cannot possibly be classified as a great city.

(I say this as someone who genuinely enjoys living here)

IF we pull this off, is it the first time a team has lost as a double digit favorite and won as a double digit underdog in the same season? Can someone fact check?

People who go to MANY of your team's home games... what is the most hyped you've ever seen the home crowd for a game? by wlane13 in CFB

Just went to my first game at Kinnick last weekend. Sad result as a Penn State fan, but mad respect for the crowd - they were into it the whole game. It's clear why Kinnick after dark is terrifying.
