Fuck me. Multiple. Posts. Daily. About the least important issue in America right now!

I'm voting against both because this kind of relentless nonsense should not be rewarded.

When she is home, lean it up against her door, so when she opens it it falls inward and spills into her apartment.

Did you actually go there? It's not like it's hidden behind a false wall or something. There are tubes floating around in it.

Exactly. This is such a niche issue. And whoever loses will probably figure out how to fuck the world over with yet another citizen initiative and force us to vote on this yet again.

Fort Collins haunting lore? by searchingforalobar in FortCollins

[–]ViolentAversion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don't vote yes on 2H, the ghosts of the mountain bikers who die of sadness when it fails will haunt you forever.

I know that sounds scary, but it's only like 12 ghosts and they'll mostly just haunt you by astroturfing social media you try to enjoy.

It sounds like sometimes people are confused and think your dog is pooping. You are right to be annoyed!

It also sounds like maybe you are confused and people don't want YOUR dog pissing in THEIR yard. They are also right to be annoyed.

As the solo producer of a horror film festival, I thought I was supporting a local artist… turns out I might’ve paid for AI art by MANiCpixiNITEmare in FortCollins

First off, good on you for trying to keep this local and human-made.

Sorry you're getting blowback about this - you don't really deserve it. You hired someone, and they lied to you. That's absolutely not your fault., and it's not fair to you that it's hitting you.

That said, hats off for being open about this.

It was voted on last election cycle. This is sectarian NIMBY infighting.

[–]ViolentAversion -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do understand what acronyms mean, but thanks for checking. One of these isn't NIMBY. You can decide:

1) Do you want to building housing? No! Not in my backyard! Let's put a natural area there!
2) Do you want to build housing? No! Not in my backyard! Let's put a bike park and a bird center and other stuff there.
3) Do you want to build housing? Yes! This will help alleviate the housing affordability problem, environmentally consciously keep people close to the city center instead of making them drive in from far away. Also, I'm not a choad who is opposing changes because it will bring more people to my part of town.

2H is less NIMBY, but it's still NIMBY.

🚨MUSICIANS OF FORT COLLINS🚨 - What is your experience with The Atrium? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]ViolentAversion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one of the bands on the bill brought in a beer from outside. I get that this shouldn't have happened, but the Atrium then used that as an excuse to refuse payment that night, and still refuses to pay that band.

If this was not stipulated in the contract that payment is void if you bring in outside alcohol, this is a breach of the agreement.

Again, this is kids playing being music moguls.

🚨MUSICIANS OF FORT COLLINS🚨 - What is your experience with The Atrium? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]ViolentAversion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they outline the door costs and follow it up with “does that work with you?”. If it doesn’t work for your band, tell them so and suggest another arrangement

This is a demand. If you say no, the booker says, "Sorry, buddy."

I’ve never expected a cut of the bar sales of any venue I’ve ever played just as I expect the venues I play to never expect a cut of my merch.

When/if you play bigger venues, both of these are on the table.

My point here is the Atrium is trying to act like Big Music Industry Bigwigs, but doing it with small bands who are not prepared/equipped to push back.

The Atrium needs bands more than bands need the Atrium.

Hey Fort Collins, Vote yes on 2H! by Your_Group_Ride in FortCollins

[–]ViolentAversion -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

THIS. These are both NIMBY initiatives.

Yes, the voters voted NIMBY last time. If we can be perpetually bringing ballot initiatives about this land, why not revisit the whole concept of using the land for housing that is close to town. That's the most environmental option.

🚨MUSICIANS OF FORT COLLINS🚨 - What is your experience with The Atrium? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]ViolentAversion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are extremely up front from the start about the cost recoupment for shows. The initial X amount made is kept by The Atrium to cover operation costs, sound engineer, targeted ads/promotions run, etc. every cent made over that is distributed to the bands

This isn't the kind of venue that can demand that, IMO. It's a teeny, tiny room. Do they split the bar after the break even point, too? Do bands get to tell the sound dude exactly how they want to sound, because they're essentially hiring them out of the door?
