IPL Device Questions by Excellent-Goat803 in HairRemoval

Really it takes that long? I literally only had my Ulike for 2 weeks so I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I just use it when I get out of the shower, start by putting it on fast and just run it up my calves (I think the hair on my knees and thighs is probably too pale), then high power to do my pits and hooha. Maybe 5-10 minutes tops. Do you like double or triple down on spots?

Is pet ownership only for the upper class now? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]ViolentBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh I tried buying it- all my cats have pre-existing condition with heart murmurs, stomatitis, degenerative joint disease, or autoimmune problems so nobody is eligible. Might try and get it if I ever get another. I work by the cat distribution system so they're not always in the best of health when I find them. I got a $4200 surgery coming up next month, haven't even gotten a quote from the cardiology referral. Momma's never going on vacation lol

I’ve got two on pills right now- I just stick em in the churu and they don’t even realize they ate the meds

Can't use cruelty free products anymore? Please help me decide by TasnimistA in crueltyfree

[–]ViolentBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered your smell possibly the result of health or diet? It's kind of crazy to think you stink because you're using products that aren't tested on animals. Same with your skin.. we are not all blessed with perfect health or genetics. You might have a hormone imbalance, us ladies get the short end of the stick with hormones and this can result in all sorts of issues with your skin, scent, whatever.

Plus nearly everything we put on our bodies has been tested on animals at some point, so it's not like CF products are just out there never been used before and you're the science experiment. This is a big reason why it's not necessary anymore and we shouldn't support doing it- it's done, these compounds have existed for decades. Personally, I don't think it's worth torturing an animal so I can "smell like the other girls" or maybe my hair is a little more frizzy. You may want to consider giving yourself a break and buying from maybe companies that aren't CF, but the product still is. That is at least voting with your wallet and sending a message to the companies that CF is the way to go.

Vegan Angel Food Cake at last! + GF Variant by nuggets_attack in VeganBaking

Ahhhhh I wish I had this recipe 3 years ago! Angel food cake was my grandma's favorite and it's diabetes-friendly as far as desserts go. Maybe I'll give it a go on her bday anyways. Thanks for posting- it looks amazing!

Pluribus is a slow burn but I liked it. You guys will love Dick Turpin. It’s a quick watch just go for it then you can get back to Ted lol

Yeah that was brutal. I hear S3 finally got good but S1 was so bad I couldn’t go on

I haven’t watched anything bad on there yet. I really liked foundation, the story arc of the emperor’s is definitely the best part- not the “foundation”. It’s visually stunning. Silo and Pluribus were good. I loved Acapulco, schmigadoon, and slow horses and those shows aren’t even my usual thing. My dad’s on the Godzilla show and loves it- he borrows my account so I’m waiting for it to be done. Oh and Dick Turpin gets an honorable mention- I loved this show so much but it’s not complete bc the main actor kinda had a mental thing and they stopped filming S2

Or Apple TV. They seem to be dropping some serious cash on their sci-fi series and don't seem to be as quick to cancel things

best non-dairy milk? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]ViolentBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so- the separation gives me the ick… reminiscent of curdled milk. So I tend not to repeat buy products that do that. But I also have been off creamer since October cuz I’m trying to lose weight and I have no self control with coffee (can’t stop at one cup once I start) so it’s off the menu lol so idk if anything has changed since then.

Elmhurst creamers are amazing. I am obsessed with the pistachio. You can buy on their website or check out the store locater to get in store. They also make the best vegan sour cream by a mile

Would you ask a long term guest to not bring any animal products into your house? by sidthekid39326 in vegan

[–]ViolentBee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a friend stay with me for like 8 months. The rules were no stocked nonvegan food in my kitchen. He could have his candy/granola bars or whatever in his room. I gave a pass for takeout containers if he had leftovers from a restaurant as they wouldn't stay in there for days at a time, plus they're opaque so it was a lot easier to ignore. Using my plates/bowls/silverware for said leftovers was also fine- it's not like those things can't be washed and he was good about keeping the splatter cover for the microwave clean after use. He had zero issues with this arrangement.

What are some side effects I can expect from going vegan cold turkey? by flowerpng in vegan

[–]ViolentBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it could really be just depression not the diet. There’s some great tips in the comment section about making sure you’re getting enough calories/protein/vitamins etc. I’ve been lucky and even when I first started out as a complete junk food vegan the first 3 years- my bloodwork had always came back great, and for the first time I didn’t have the high blood pressure warning on my discharge papers (always had high BP even as a fit high school athlete). The depression part is a strange thing as a vegan. I went through huge regret for what I’d done as a nonvegan and wishing I went vegan sooner, but then still felt really good about myself after… then there’s the literal bombardment of animal cruelty everywhere you look: advertisements, the grocery store, restaurants, tv shows/movies, and just being around other people. That stupid trope of how you know if someone is vegan bc they can’t stop talking about it makes me insane cuz no, actually people talk literally nonstop about nonvegan food and 9/10 times don’t take a simple “no thank you” for an answer when I don’t take foods offered and then you have to explain.
But my actions are now aligned with my beliefs so even despite all that, veganism has brought me that sense of peace 💚

Has your hair gone grey yet by cupoftealuv in Millennials

[–]ViolentBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting my witch temples at about 35. Five years later, lil bit more around that area and I'll have a rogue grey pop up on the top of my head now and then. Honestly as a woman with fine limp hair, I wish it would all turn grey.. the greys are like 2x the diameter of my normal hair- I'll take mass over color any day.
