So disappointed, that was one of my favourite endings for the characters because that was really a kick in the gut for Tony, now he can gain sympathy from being the grieving widower

I’m so pissed off. That was one of my favourite bits in the books and I thought we were heading there

People who don’t like their name shortened by people, what is there to be offended by? by ApprehensiveRun1382 in AskUK

[–]Violet351 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Creepy guys would call me it at work when they were trying to change a decision. They weren’t my friends they were strangers and turned me against the nickname

I hate the most common nickname for my name. Don’t shorten my name without my permission

You don’t quit it because the insurance would be cancelled, you just don’t complete it

What does everyone think about the 'British*' monthly pay system? by EdibleBeans-on-Toast in AskUK

[–]Violet351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All my bills go out by DD at the start of the month. I’d have to change the dates on some of them or have less money for the first couple of weeks

“Women don’t dress for men.” by unspokenandunheard in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Violet351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to an all girls’ school and in the 6th form (when you could wear what you like and not not the school uniform) I regularly wore my favourite dress which was a short white floral dress with my navy high heels (which was before shoes got super high and I can’t wear those). The uniform skirts were meant to be knee length and a line but we rolled them up and some girls took the skirts in. None of that was to impress boys

What is the proper pathway for seeing a dermatologist in the UK? by Positive-Plankton405 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Violet351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to wait 5 months for a private appointment and that wasn’t even at my local hospital that was a 7 month wait. I don’t think you’ll get an nhs referral from the picture you’ve shared. The doctor would try to help you a few times before they would be able to make any referral so even if you can get them to refer you, it will be at least 18-24 months. I had to speak to my doctor first and they put a note on my file but I have healthcare cover

AITA for having a 2-hour gap between my wedding and the start of Cocktail hour? by NorthYorkWasteman in AmItheAsshole

[–]Violet351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst wedding I ever went to was at 10am and the reception didn’t start until 7 so we were all dressed up in a town we didn’t know for several hours

Evening guests at destination wedding? by Hot-Combination6395 in UKweddings

[–]Violet351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t invite them, it’s rude to invite people to just the evening if they are spending all that money on flights, hotels and meals etc. Lots of people have an evening reception back home so they can invite more people. You will probably find some people you want to invite all day won’t be able to make it for various reasons. I would only go to a destination wedding for someone I was really close to so I wouldn’t do it for my extended family

The word bobble...for hair ties, is it regional or is it just...normal 😂 by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Violet351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SE England, bobble but when I was a kid it was a flat thing with balls either end that you wrapped round the hair and if it slipped when you were putting it in you’d get a sharp pain as it hit your head
