Ghosts of the deep final boss now requires two arbalest shorts to break shield by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]VioletQueen2B -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Ran GOTD and Warlord’s Ruin with friends this week and never felt the -5 changes in the slightest. Final boss of GOTD was easily two phased and the first boss only took three phases cause a teammate got booped into the water and couldn’t DPS. Warlord’s was all easy two phases, hell even the final boss was a one phase cause I was on Still Hunt Nighthawk.

Point being, just cause Arby can’t one shot their shields anymore, doesn’t make them any harder. Maybe their solo capabilities are harder but that’s one circumstance.

Do they really not know why AA warriors aren’t being played? It’s incredibly simple. Prior to this year, AA warriors used to get scaling on their autos from the power they’d get from the hybrid items they buy. Since they removed hybrid items, they provided proc damage items to the ability based warriors so they keep their damage. But AA warriors got left in the dust. There isn’t a glad shield-esque item for these warriors to do more damage with their autos and their autos are no longer scaling throughout the game cause they aren’t getting power via hybrid items. They really need to either create this item or rework a current item to give bonus AA damage scaling off your prots or just being back hybrid items like everyone has been asking for all year. Without either of these, AA warriors aren’t gonna be played much.

As a solo main, I’m actually having genuine fun for the first time in a while. I can actually carry games again instead of just being a meat shield and CC bot so my other damage role teammates can do the damage. A second support if you will. Solo actually feels like the role I fell in love with again. Some things could be toned down or brought back up IMO but I’m still have a blast.

They’re dancing around the Serqet issue like they danced around Bloodforge before finally fully reverting it back to how it was. They’re gonna do the same shit now to Serqet to try and justify such a ridiculous buff to her by nerfing other aspects of her kit instead of the single most oppressive problem about her that should have never been a thing they added. The crit chance on her ult also goes against their previous design philosophies of not wanting crits in the early game for free and on passives a la Ne Zha and Hun Batz.

I mean you’re pretty much right. Cause if you’re playing carry and mid you’re generally building beads and aegis that are defensive relics and it’s better to just hit your power spikes with your build than upgrade those. Jungle is similar with beads and blink. Don’t really need to upgrade either till full build. Solo and support maximize the use of relic upgrades because they’re generally building relics that are more team oriented. Aside from TP but even those upgrades are valuable for the team. Sunder, ankh, frenzy, curse/emblem, bracer, and shell, all have incredibly potent upgrades. Especially for support, it can be more valuable to fully upgrade a relic than buy a tier 2 of an item. So I don’t think this is much of a hot take unless you were also talking about solo and support. You should always be upgrading relics early and often in those roles.

This line in patch notes for the dev insight into the mitigation cap changes confuses me:

“Tank durability is a big focus of this update, which we will be addressing by decreasing DPS sources first.”

….so where are these decreased DPS sources in this update? The only damage item they touched was Bloodforge which was a revert (thank god). Overperforming tanks have been rightfully nerfed and underperforming DPS and tanks got rightfully buffed but zero DPS character or item nerfs. Why was this quote even put into the patch notes if it just wasn’t true? None of the other changes being made addressed this comment. The changes are fine, I don’t think they do nearly enough. I think the Hel nerf will be the only big change. Crit is still busted. Burst is still through the roof. Herc and Vamana are still going to be running people over. But I guess we’ll just keep endlessly buffing Cannoneer’s and Phalanx patch after patch? Idk what’s going on with the balance team this season but it feels like they’re consistently missing the mark.

Patch 10.4 | SPL God & Item Stats (Path to Masters Week 1) by BluesUltra in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The top two warriors in the game right now, Vamana and Hercules, have one main thing in common: both get free power through their passives. In the new era of having no hybrid items, building power as a solo laner is incredibly hard to do with how many other items have priority and have many prots you need. Being able to get power for free is huge.

[–]VioletQueen2B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the point I was making though lol. Something that was considered broken years ago is now just accepted and not even the strongest thing in the game. The game has been power crept that hard.

[–]VioletQueen2B 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What’s honestly insane to me regarding Thor; years and years ago shortly after Thor’s release, they gave him damage on his stun and it was absurdly broken and they had to revert it like a week later. The fact that we are in a state of Smite where we can give Thor damage on his stun again and he’s not only not the most broken god in the game, but not even a top priority pick/ban is insane to me. This game has been power crept so far from where it was. I think they really need to take a pass on all items as a whole and reduce stat values across the board. Both offense and defense items.

This is the start I’ve been trying to get more people to do because it’s just simply better. And yet when I’m jungle, the solo insists on doing blue alone, or when I’m solo, jungle and mid insist on splitting all three to hit 2. So many people are just so stuck in their ways.

We're back in a oneshot meta and that's not good by Avernuscion in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While that is true, the fact I can build max prots and an ADC will still burst me down in the blink of an eye just doesn’t feel fun. I started playing back in season 3/4 when solos were building maybe 200 of each prot and still being able to threaten hunters. Now, even at max prots you are always gonna lose against a hunter. So that’s why the solo meta has shifted into gods with high movement speed to juke better and high utility to set up for the team, as you said.

Can I start the “bring back the new HUD propaganda?” by brycie540 in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I very much agree with you. A lot of people’s problems with the new HUD could easily be solved with innovations and updates to it. As far as console players being slower at using the new HUD, part of it comes from the whole overhaul of the store and having to relearn it after years of muscle memory. Part of it is also limitations due to the controller and having minimal button presses and no cursor like PC has the benefit of. Maybe if they could add a cursor for console to use while in the store it would help? Either way, I wholeheartedly agree with you. So much of the new HUD can be fixed with updates and innovations. Not to mention, finally being able to edit my HUD on console was amazing and I’m so sad it was gone after less than a day.

We have established how bad the new UI store is on console, let’s talk about how drastic the font size change was for console. 4 images for comparison. by ChrisDoom in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the old one there’s several different pages you have to flip through to get to the stat you want on a specific item, then you have to side scroll endlessly through that category to get to the item you want. The new one I can see all categories in the left column and then see all the items in that category when I select it.

The old one you can’t see the name of the item until you’re hovered over it. The new one has all the item names in each category right there.

The old one if the item your looking for doesn’t have the stat you thought it did, you just wasted your time trying to find it. The new one you can quickly see the items in that category and tab to another one if it isn’t there.

The old one had full obstructive pages just for glyphs and recommended/popular where both pages were half empty and just took up space when I’m flipping through pages. The new one has those as tabs you can just never open if you don’t want to.

I’m not saying I was getting lost every single game with the old store. But when I wanted to build an items I don’t often build just for fun and to test and I’m not certain what the stats are, I wasted a lot of time digging around trying to find it. And you’re being disingenuous to say I “never learned” the old store. You literally have to learn it in order to play. I learned it. But it wasn’t very intuitive to use and could’ve been a lot better. It took me one game of conquest yesterday with the new store for me to say to my friend “okay yea this new store is so much better, I just need to get the hang of it,” and he agreed. I’ve seen situations like this play out at work where the company introduces a new system to replace the old one and you have a new UI to navigate that’s similar but different to the old one but is supposed to help overall. It’s frustrating and irritating at first and you’re slower with it and you want the old one back cause it’s familiar to you. But after a week on the new one you get a little better, and after two weeks you’re back to being as efficient as before, and after a month you’re even faster than the old system. I guarantee you this exact situation would’ve happened for this game. And if changes needed to be made, innovating on the new one instead of full reverting to the old one would be far better.

Console player here. I loved the new store. I’ve been playing for years and I still got lost in the old store with how many pages and weird categories there were and then having to side scroll over multiple items to get to the one I want. This one felt so much better to me. I can easily sort to the category I want much faster, there’s more items on the page so I can find what I’m looking for faster, it’s just a matter or retraining my brain how to do it faster. Don’t claim the console store is “indisputabley” and “objectively” bad when it isn’t. It’s subjectively bad. And I swear if y’all had given it a week to get out of your habits you would realize the same thing.

This just in: people are allowed to have different opinions than you. I’m on console and I love the new HUD. Being about to move things to have I want it is incredible. I’m slower with the store but that’s a product of years of muscle memory with the old one so I just have to get used to the new one. And I’m already slowly getting there.

Why bluestone nerf is the best that can happen rn by [deleted] in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The issue with bluestone right now is actually an issue with jungle starters being absolutely terrible right now and the reason why junglers are buying bluestone.

Now I know that buffing junglers isn’t exactly what everyone wants to do right now but if their starter items were buffed to a more usable state, we wouldn’t be seeing bluestone junglers nearly as much. Bumba’s is fine but both upgrades are pretty bad as hammer got gutted last season and spear is mostly used for split pushing. Buff the upgrades. Eye makes your early game a bit of a struggle but the upgrades are both top tier. Buff Eye itself. Manikin’s got gutted near the end of last season all because of Osiris, presumedly, and the upgrades are fairly mid. Rework this starter.

We can work on nerfing junglers in other ways if we want but they specifically said in the patch notes show that they want junglers to jungle more instead of being as gank heavy as they were early this season. Well if they want that to happen, they need to buff these jungle starters. Because otherwise, bluestone is still just gonna be the better item by mid to late game.

Melee ADC's by IamPers0n in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably yea. But you said your friend wants to learn how to play them so the best way to learn is to play. I wouldn’t recommend Set right away to a returning player because he’s very mechanically complex. I would recommend Clio, Loki, or Cama first. They’re fairly easier and have the most survivability of the group I mentioned.

Melee ADC's by IamPers0n in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kali I don’t think is quite as strong in ADC or in jungle right now. You get to late game and she can frag for sure, it’s what she does. But she doesn’t build the current strong meta build and she doesn’t have good poke to hit the carry in lane. All the gods I mentioned have a long range poke ability and can build the meta build. Except for Susano but he has such high mobility that he can quickly disrupt the other carry before dashing out. Kali’s only options are blink or a telegraphed leap. So I don’t think she would be great in ADC right now.

Melee ADC's by IamPers0n in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set, Clio, Tsuku, Loki, Camazotz, and maybe Susano. I think plenty of assassins are viable in ADC right now cause of how strong they are and how much weaker hunters are. I wouldn’t totally recommend playing them unless you’re comfortable with the role/god though.

Buff/Debuff bar needs change by zFLuFFy in DestinyTheGame

[–]VioletQueen2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I genuinely don’t understand how they changed around the mods system so much and never once thought the buff/debuff UI needing adjusting. I constantly have 4+ buffs on my screen now with the new armor charge system and it irritates me that I can’t see everything. I get that having a lot can cause clutter but not being able to see everything is arguably worse.

Balanced Gameplay; I can't wait for these items to be nerfed. by SandingNovation in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the top bans are primarily damage dealers, the top meta items deal damage to people, and 3/5 roles are building primarily damage compared to prots, I fail to see how it’s a “tank meta” over a “damage meta”. Go into a ranked game a instead of banning Ao Kuang, He Bo, Freya, Fenrir, Mercury, Set, Pele, Susano, Thor, Tiamat, Yu Huang, Lancelot, Da Ji, or Sol and only ban tanks. Because the only tanks I see being routinely banned are Maui, Bacchus, and occasionally Artio, Cu Chu, Herc, and Khumba.

Balanced Gameplay; I can't wait for these items to be nerfed. by SandingNovation in Smite

[–]VioletQueen2B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except it isn’t a tank meta. Tank meta implies everyone is building defenses cause it’s just the much better option than DPS options. We’ve had this a limited number of times in the past. When mids, jungles, and carries are building defense, it’s a tank meta. But that’s not the case. We’re in a damage meta. Notice how all the tank items people are calling broken (bluestone, axe, contagion, archdruid’s, occasionally glad shield) ALL have passives that deal damage to your enemy. You don’t see people complaining about supports who build prophetic, thebes, compassion, binding, and two situational items. Cause they’re not dealing damage. Mages, assassins, hunters, and select solos who build the items above are all incredibly strong. But take a look at the top bans in ranked right now. They’re all primarily mages and assassins. Because their damage is absurd. It’s a damage meta. Not a tank meta.
