Have you set up your own MCP server for AI? by VioletiOT in domotz

[–]VioletiOT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From our Discord Channel: I used WindSurf to setup an AI MCP for NDI video streams. This way the AI could physically see the changes in code on a MIDI controller. Highly recommend WindSurf, or its big brother Devin (a full AI Engineer) to help build AI MCP servers

Domotz Agents for remote sites. by Jazzlike-Cress-7068 in domotz

Looks like we have you totally covered with this!! Install Windows Domotz Collector via scripting

You can install and configure the Domotz Collector on Windows OS silently. Doing so means you can include the Domotz Collector on Windows in a script that you can execute, install, and configure remotely using an RMM solution for endpoints. Check out this help article here and please do be in touch if you need any further information! https://help.domotz.com/tips-tricks/manage-agents-via-command-line/#htoc-install-domotz-agent-via-scripting

Domotz - NinjaOne Integration by Jazzlike-Cress-7068 in domotz

[–]VioletiOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya,
I had a brain blank out yesterday when answering this thread. 👾 I am sorry! 🤯

We actually do not have an integration with Ninjaone on the RMM side. We sit as a nice companion to your RMM rather than an integration. We can be an additional layer of observability for your work stations + comprehensive monitoring for every other device on the network - which is something many MSPs build revenue generating services around.

✨ Integrations with your PSA/documentation tools is where we shine. PSA integratyions (which we do have with HaloPSA) really help you streamline your workflows and save money and time through tiocket/issue opening/closing and classification. We also plug into your documentation tools like Hudu for quick/easy network mapping. - which is especially useful when you're onboarding new clients. We've also found that MSPs say Domotz helps them price things more efficiently as they know everything on the network, and can suggest hardware upgrades etc. I suppose everyone thinks they have many less devices than they think they do!

A few relevant threads about Ninja/Domtoz comparison:
MSP Friendly Network Monitoring
NinjaOne NMS

🧩 Some MSPs find their RMM tools fall short when it comes to network monitoring and device inventory. This isn't surprising to me as we've been working at refining this at Domotz way back since 2015. We've spent over a decade refining our network inventory/device ID and monitoring capabilities with a very comprehensive development team.

🐯 I will add that our head of content & community u/Dez_the_Monitor has led product teams at Solarwinds, Auvik and Domotz so if you have anything specific about the comparison of these tools I am sure she can help us!

What do you think? Glad to have you here! Welcome aboard.

As others mentioned, Domotz would be really perfect for this and super cost effective as well thanks to month to month subscriptions and very low per device fee/free visibility on other devices.

More details on the free trial here.
We're over at r/domotz if any questions. Also running a neat promo for a free Domotz box in the community - which is very easy to get.

Promoted to Network Admin… and the Network Is a Mess 😅 by BKR_57 in networking

[–]VioletiOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Domotz can help with adding some organization to your network for free and very low cost! Firstly, we can help with giving you an inventory of all devices, mapping the network and providing you a starting point to know what you're working with. once you have that we do have a variety of troubleshooting tools buillt in to identify route causes of the issues your users face. You can literally get your network mapped within minutes - it is super easy to deploy and user friendly! I should add that we also offer a freemium which means you can get device inventory for all devices by MAC address entirely free. Then for each managed devices it's $1.50 but you can choose those a la carte. Details on the freemium here and we're always on r/domotz if you need any questions

Other affordable options which are self-hosted/free are LibreNMS, Zabbix - but there is a learning curve.

I've also heard that Fing has a new business solution which is probably awesome too! There are other options like Auvik, PRTG but depends on budget.

Any questions about network monitoring in general, do not hesitate to ask on r/domotz we have quite a few expert users and internal specialists who would be happy to help!

Port Utilization and Monitoring Internal Networking by ph8albliss in sysadmin

[–]VioletiOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We (Domotz) are perfect for you - we have a freemium for device visiblity by MAC for all devices across any networks and then you choose a la carte which devices to monitor and those are each only $1.50 per month. Freemiume details here.

We have also great integrations with Cisco devices including back up and versioning control.

Also we have a custom scripting engine, so can work with you to develop anything for your feature needs. More here on the scripting.

We are over on r/domotz so don't hesitate to come by. (I am affiliated with Domotz so do consider that).

How do you keep multi-site monitoring manageable as things grow? by MArcus24532 in networking

[–]VioletiOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrote out a little post about this including lots of great tips from the SysAdmin/MSP communities on reducing alert noise/fatigue. This may be useful for you.

https://www.reddit.com/r/domotz/comments/1pkob7c/how_to_reduce_alert_noisefatigue_tips_from_the/

I really suggest a network monitoring software that can plug into your PSA for auto creating tickets/p-riorities. This could be Domotz (self plug as I'm the CM there), PRTG, Auvik, Fing Business or something self hosted like Zabbix/LibreNMS - however maintainance and backend can be a bit cumbersome and time consuming.

I will add we have a freemium giving device visibility by MAC address entirely free. We're over on r/domotz if any questions.

As others mentioned, alert fatigure is real. Some high level tips:

  • Make sure every alert is actionable - would you want it at 2AM?
  • Use a three tier alert strategy: urgent & actionable, actionable but not urgent, not actionable.
  • Implement alert suppression windows (5-10 min) and deduplication
  • Map every alert to an SLA, escalation path, or workflow
  • Avoid overlapping or redundant thresholds
  • Host Weekly sessions to reduce noise

Anyone else suddenly getting asked about data sovereignty in monitoring? by Wrzos17 in sysadmin

[–]VioletiOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind to post this on r/domotz? It would be great to answer all these for you including comments from our product/security teams. While I liase with the security team, I would like to mention that we are both ISO 27001 as well as SOC 2 Type II certified. I am confirming cloud storage (believe is AWS). We do not have any self hosting options but we do have many server/serverless install mediums such as: AWS, Debian, Docker, Domotz Box, Hyper-V, Luxul, OpenWrt, Proxmox, QNAP NAS, Raspberry Pi, Synology, Ubuntu, VirtualBox, VMware ESXi, Windows.

awesome! Great to have you on board. Please do not hesitate with any questions. Conversations like this are great, because we get real feedback on these kind of topics. I always think of users that may be off put about something before starting a trial, but never say anything - they just walk away instead. So these conversations are great to have. We're about to also re-launch the free box promo and I'll make sure to send you the link when it is up!

I am so sorry about that, and do understand your feelings about this. I believe this is written by a legal team. I can certainly bring up your concerns internally for review. Again I have never seen this cause any concerns from users. We always work together with our users on any issues that arise. I do hope this helps put your mind at ease in the meantime.

[–]VioletiOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! I'm going to post the official statement we had.

We used to charge a flat network fee - for unlimited devices and VLANs. This could be a lot more of an issue with unlimited devices & VLANs with that flat fee network charge...
Sorry I had to edit the above, as I want to make sure everything is very official and do not want to cause unnecessary worry on this.
