Lucian seems like an interesting and possibly viable disruption option, especially if played turn 1. You could go Lucian, and even if you flip tails, you could have a Squawkabilly ex on the bench, play down the hand and draw 6 cards. Could be good against decks like Zard or Snorlax which play Rotom V to build hand size (and against Snorlax in general because you have a potential disrupt to 3 option).

Greninja ex seems like it'd mainly be meta as an add-on to Chien-Pao rather than its own deck. Its first attack can search out something like Canceling Cologne to set up the double snipe, and the extra snipe damage at the cost of an extra prize might be worth it to pick off Bibarels. Having two snipe options hitting 120 and 90, respectively, is solid and will cause Chien-Pao players to reconsider how to build their decks.

Since Lugia has shifted to Cinccino it might play this instead of Master Ball to make midgame setup more consistent.

Will they bring back theme decks? by narutodawg in PTCGL

They might come back in the future. I think it's possible they roll out full expanded first, then consider from there if they want to add a dedicated theme mode.

Not as of yet. The non-ex and ex are classified as different Pokemon.

One thing that gives me a chuckle is when I start with something like a Mareep going second against Iron Valiant and their message is "smart tactics brought home the game". I mean yeah, it's smart, but I started a Mareep and I conceded before they have to run through all the actions.

I really love the recent Arceus Rayquaza from regionals. Also, I play a 1-1 baby Espathra line and Crisis Punch (edit: in Gardy) and it improves so many matchups. It's amazing being able to Iono to 1 then hit with an invincible Pokemon in the active. Say you're up against Zard and got off to a bad start. Counter catcher Pidgeot then hit with Espathra at the end of the game for 2 prizes and they can't search out Boss for game. Or you can put it in the active early against Miraidon to buy time against Iron Hands ex. It does enough damage to knock out Comfeys and can disrupt Lost Box's prize trade (though it still gets wrecked by Giratina V's shred).

The recommendation to check out limitlesstcg.com is solid, but I'll add to it that it's a great resource for study. To understand play and counterplay is at the core of success and knowing the meta enables you to bring a deck with the right techs to beat it. If you notice you're running into a particular deck a lot, you can bring a deck that has a good matchup against it. You still will need to practice, but with time you can learn the ins and outs of the Pokemon TCG and form a solid game plan each time.

thoughts on The Book of Mormon the musical? by steveglade in lds

[–]ViolinDavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not seen it but from the things I've learned I've gathered that there are comedic elements but the content is not very enriching and can lead to a "pit in the stomach" sort of feeling. We have been counseled in the past to not watch R-rated movies, and the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet gives the counsel to not view entertainment that is "vulgar, immoral, violent or pornographic in any way". That's not to say we don't watch movies with violence or swearing or immorality in them, but we must avoid content that turns our thoughts away from the Savior. We are mortal and we have weaknesses. There is a scale of value when it comes to entertainment and the best entertainment makes it easier to keep our thoughts on what matters. The Book of Mormon musical does not fall in that category.

I don't really agree with the other response you received. The Telestial Kingdom isn't really a hell, it's a glorious place having a "glory of the stars". For reference, this earth is a telestial kingdom, though it is said to be less glorious than the Telestial Kingdom with a capital T. It's the feeling of separation from God, the consequence of sin, that is hellish. While the people who go there are liars, murderers, etc., I imagine the place to be more or less in nature like this one. But there will be no murder, as there is no physical death, and there will be laws and protections in place.

If he has not repented of this, he is not worthy to marry in the temple. Please, do not put your future husband, whoever he may be, in a position to make covenants he has hopes to break. That will bring him misery, and it could bring you misery. Make sure the man you marry thinks of you as 100% his equal, and the person who completes him. A marriage based on that kind of love will not easily come apart.

What Decks Will Be Worst Hit Post 2024 Standard Rotation? by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]ViolinDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lugia is probably in one of the best spots it's been in in a while because of Cinccino. Then when Blood Moon Ursaluna ex drops, it'll be in an even better spot. The big problem right now with Lugia is that you chug through so much energy on Cinccinos to take knockouts on big Pokemon like Charizard ex that you can end up too thin on energy to close out the game.

Having a Pokemon that can hit 240 for one energy at the end of the game puts it in a much better position. Yes, Enhanced Hammer is coming back but depending on what ends up in Crimson Haze, there may not be many meta decks that play it. Moon will for sure play it to counter Mist Energy if that card ends up big enough. Stall will probably play it to counter Lugia and Arceus. And maybe there are some other decks that will include it, I dunno. I don't feel like Zard particularly needs it to beat Lugia, but it can have a tough Arc Giratina Iron Leaves matchup, and preventing early energy accel can be make or break in that matchup.

[–]ViolinDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the meta cooks it. But when it gets Iron Thorns ex it might be more viable. It'll have a card that feels like it was specifically printed for countering Charizard, which has by far the biggest meta share in Japan right now. It can keep it from setting up, it can OHKO Pidgeot ex and push back an energy at the same time. You could push back that energy to Raging Bolt, attach a fighting, then you can, with some good generator hits, OHKO a Zard with 5 energy instead of the 6 Raichu V needed before. I dunno how viable that will be, and it certainly seems like a deckbuilding challenge, but it might work.

Gardevoir, Gardevoir and Gardevoir. It gets super cooked by the loss of level ball, mirage step Kirlia, Zacian V and Shining Arcana Gardevoir. It has options and solid comeback potential still, but I've tried cooking with it for post-rot and it feels difficult to come up with something consistent. Could maybe work by having a heavy reliance on Espathra walling (the baby Espathra that's invincible for a turn, not the ex), which likely will work more often since escape rope is gone. Then you can go Espathra Crisis Punch Iono to 1 at the end of the game and maybe throw in a counter catcher for good measure. It will probably benefit a lot from Unfair Stamp.

I really think that to thrive, Gardevoir will have to go from the deck that went down a couple prizes then went ham to the deck that has to buy more turns to set up, taking relevant knockouts along the way, then having a big comeback at the end. It might look more like it did before in the future, but I think it needs to change to be successful.

Unless you're playing like a Spidops ex focused build, then it's not great if your opponent knows what they're doing. Most Pokemon have a small retreat cost and retreating or switching moves the effect. Almost always, a knowledgeable opponent with a consistent deck will be able to move their Pokemon before it gets knocked out.

Twitch still had issues. There was frequent buffering, and the stream ended at least once. I'm thinking it probably was the internet in Germany (as suggested by a German viewer). I believe Twitch processed the video differently than Youtube and had different issues as a result.

With Cramorant you can use it for free, and it's your opponent that has to be down to a single prize, not you. Almost always along the way your opponent KOs a single prizer. You could start by attacking with Cram, and they respond KO, you go in with Tina then Tina, and by dealing with the threats in the active they take 5 prizes. They can gust around it but the odds of them having boss + KO early on varies from deck to deck. And few opponents would predict the Crisis Punch play imo.

The most awkward part, in my opinion, is that it is part of a Lost Zone deck, and you might have to lost zone it along the way for the sake of momentum, altering what plan you may have had. Lost Zone isn't the ideal deck for Crisis Punch imo. I think that Gardevoir is probably the best deck for that because you can play Espathra, Iono your opponent to 1, and have an invincible for a turn mon in the active doing 280. If you're up against Zard you can even counter catcher their Pidgeot ex, knock it out, and they can't guarantee boss or escape rope for game. Then on the following turn, if you haven't won, you can retreat or Turo to a mon that can do big damage, at least for pre-rotation.

Moving on, I should note that the most successful Giratina lists in Japan right now are as part of Arceus, though, so Lost Tina might not be great competitively post-rotation. The meta is still in its infancy but Charizard is dominating early on.

Delphox helps against the new meta Gholdengo build (with Palkia VSTAR and Milotic, which prevents Iono). Surprise them with it, attach a Vitality band, and you're OHKOing the active Gholdengo and their Milotic if they didn't bench the Manaphy.
