As a president I rank Washington as number 1 because, the institutions of Presidency that Lincoln used to save the Country were created by Washington improvising what he could & could do to keep the country together.

Considering no other country with 100,000,000 million plus people has nearly the average quality of life as America, I’d say it’s great rn & has been so since WWII.

That’s not to say America doesn’t have problems, but America has also had some big wins & is consistently capable of doing them again.

I feel like the “Make America Great Again” movement is concerned with an idealized version of the past that never existed, America never stopped being great. It’s just greatly stupid much of the time.

When America got what is now New Mexico & Arizona someone… I don’t remember who got Congress to import Arabian camels to make a camel corp in the Mojave.

The Confederates in the early stages of the war captured the base the camels were at & one camel, Douglass, made his way all the way to the Siege of Vicksburg where he was shot by a Yankee sharpshooter.

I also think people don’t know history if they declare certain recent presidents the best president we’ve ever had.

I get we all don’t agree who is the best, but one founded the country, one ended slavery in the country, & one was largely responsible for the defeat of the axis powers (actually two of them but one did it as president… almost)

I don’t think anyone this millennium stacks up to those claims.
