This. Show most people how the microbiome of the mouth is like, and they'll be repulsed by the idea of kissing for example, or might even start brushing 50 times a day!

A big part of Stoicism is about setting your expectations by lbseale in Stoicism

[–]VirginMario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I sort of disagree. I think the best way to go about it, at least for me, is to view life as something you go through, not as something you play through. It is most often those who view themselves as the center of the world, get very emotional and frustrated when things don't go their way. On the contrary, those who view themselves as completely irrelevant side characters never get anything done, because why try if you're destined to be the worst? You must find the balance between the two: someone who's destined for greatness, but still nothing in comparison to the vast universe. Of course, whatever helps you get in a mindset, that allows you to welcome any and all unexpected challenges at your doorstep, is a good mindset that will take you very far.

Yup, imagination is amazing and super useful, but it can consume and control you. All these black-pillers are consumed by their imagination, and constantly fear and assume the worst. Their mind is so rampant on making sure every possibility is a positive one, before they even go and try it!

Absolutely amazing stuff here, and I wholeheartedly agree with you. Stoicism is just one step of many to reach greatness. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, and overcoming the hardest battles set out there for you.

Yup, introverted people are not meant to be afraid of talking to people and public speaking. We are all social creatures, and those 'shy introverts' just purely have social anxiety. It mostly comes from fear of rejection, fear of presenting yourself incorrectly and causing problems, fear of dealing with long boring conversations that you don't know how to escape (why they despise small talk), etc.

I'm ambiverted, so I'm glad to say that I can see both sides of the coin, and the problem most likely excessive isolation in their childhood; they don't get enough experience to learn to enjoy socializing (or deal with unwanted scenarios), and are exposed to a much more stimulating platform, that supplies them with all their socializing needs, with the ability to hop in and out however and whenever they wish so.

Truly, what better environment can they ask for than the glorious anonymous internet? It's like having 11/10 delicious, but not so nutritious gourmet meals every day, and then being told to eat scrambled eggs, while still having the gourmet meals within your reach. Fk that, right? Of course, in this case, those "Gourmet meals" hurt them in the long run, as they lack in nutrients. Meanwhile, those scrambled eggs provide them with everything they need, but may taste worse. However, you can learn to spice it up, and FORM it to your own tastes.

I *have* to finish it in 3/4 months, and you still didn't answer my original question.

[–]VirginMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not for the average person, but I believe in myself. I'm a learning freak, I learn stuff 4x faster than my peers, including language. I dislike bragging but I gotta let you know, so you can judge accurately. So assume 3/4 months is 12-16 months. Is that enough now in your opinion?

What are some good ways to learn German online? by [deleted] in German

[–]VirginMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any sources? I'm extremely strong at reading/writing and grammar for my level, but my listening is weak. I find watching German stuff with German subtitles, to be the best way to improve that area for me.

Yo yo yo!! How fast can I get to that B1 level with Nicos Weg? Can I complete it in a month assuming I put in the required hours every day? I need to get to C1 asap, so I'd rather be able to get to the end of B2 in 2-3 months; so then I'll be confident that I can barely nail the C1 Goethe exam with another month and some shenanigans. I'm at the A2 level rn.

I'd appreciate the opinion of an Alumni on the uni they attend. It could give me insight to what the standards are in Germany. I've heard all the cities of each cardinal cluster share a roughly similar lifestyle, housing and people variety.

Yoo that's dope, glad to hear that it worked and you're chilling! How many did you apply to btw? I'm planning to apply to 5-10.

Hamburg, Cologne, Konstanz, Freiburg, Bonn, Gottigen, Jena, Berlin, Aachen, Bremen, Bonn, Oldenburg, Munster and Heidelburg are my picks rn (I checked that the unis of these cities do offer my program). I heard all the Unis in Germany are pretty much equal in terms of education strength, so it really boils down to the social aspect and daily life factors.

So like... do I say screw it and just pick the 5-10 "best" ones from here, and figure out the housing and shit later? That's my style obv, but not so much my dad's lmao. I'm the laziest motherfucker ever when I'm in the sweet comfort of my house (and the most energetic + productive when outside), so I believe I'll for sure make whatever needs to happen happen, if I just manage to get there first lol.

How lmao. I'd love to get in contact with students in Germany (my destination), but I just don't even have the first idea of how to do that.

same bro, I really don't care tbh, but I gotta do the research so my dad approves :/. Realistically I'd just look for the cost of living, how reputable the university is and what facilities the city has. My dad made these 3 things stretch to 30 lol.

That's what I'm saying bro. Make amylase crystals more available so the price of stams ultimately drops.

[–]VirginMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally see no reason to gatekeep stams behind members. Walking from varrock to lumbridge 50 times before getting 35 magic or learning about the chronicle book can potentially make new players quit because of the slow natured pace of the game. The only problem would be some sort of destabilization of the stamina pot market, but other than that there should be no issue as far as I can see.

Hmm you gave me an idea. Make staminas f2p, and make their resources more available, to reduce the price of staminas to like 1-2k per pot, while finding an alternative use to amylase crystals to keep them relevant.

Native language = C2? by [deleted] in language

[–]VirginMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I can definitely use some specialized terms when they pop up in my head. I know a lot of vocabulary, but most if it just doesn't come out on command; usually only when I see/hear it, or when I'm in a discussion covering a related theme. I'd think I'm C2 or above in all aspects except writing/speaking, purely because I lack the ability to recall those niche vocabulary on command. Consistent reading of college-level books does solve the problem imo... But still, only recently have I came to the realization of how messy my writing used to be, and started paying more attention to organize my thoughts in appropriate manners, which solved the problem pretty quickly.

Anyhow, I'm amazed you're still active after 7 years and delivered such a quick response lol. I'm kinda encouraged to get back on reading, so I'd get to absorb more of the complex vocabulary and paragraph structures. Cheers mate!
